Would I recommend these? Certainly not!

I renewed my bike insurance with them. Paid for the policy in full. I sold my bike shortly after the policy started. The policy had run for less than 4 weeks and they refunded me just 22% of what i've paid! Absolutely terrible. I'll make sure I never insure another vehicle with this company again!

The service level on the phone when I called in for some clarity before starting a new policy was exceptional

I would give zero stars if I could.

Over a decade never had an issue (never this con merchant) bike caught fire while insured through them as they just take money off the top to be the contact center. But bike caught fire called up told it’s all covered etc. then came there 3rd party denying the claim without seeing the bike claiming he knew what happened and how the fire started. Long story short fca got involved and claim continued thought all going ahead.

You have to declare claims which I have zero but now there trying to deny the claim not telling them of flat tyres on the side of the road, if you drop the bike, if your bikes crashed into while stationary but not needing repairs etc and petty stuff like that.

The manager has since gone silent and when I call from my number the wait time just climbs but called twice from partners and got through while still waiting on mine and then both times they take my details and suddenly are having problems hearing me.

I wanted to pass along some positive feedback about Queenie. I spoke with her today regarding a mid-term adjustment to my motorcycle insurance policy, and she was genuinely excellent. She was clear, helpful and informative throughout, and helped me achieve exactly the outcome I was hoping for. What really stood out to me was the level of customer service she provided, along with her care and attention to detail. As someone who has worked in customer service myself, it was very apparent that Queenie takes pride in her work, enjoys helping customers and is genuinely passionate about what she does. She represented Principal Insurance extremely well, and if there is any opportunity for her to receive recognition, praise or reward for the service she provided, I would be very pleased to know that this feedback had contributed towards that. It would certainly be well deserved. As a result of my experience with Queenie today, I am extremely pleased that I am continuing to choose Principal Insurance for my motorcycle insurance.

If I could give a zero or a negative rating I would have. I requested the forms to cash out my account because I left the company that it was with. Principal contacted me and said the were missing one of the four pages I sent in. It was 2 sheets of paper. 2 forms on each sheet, back to back. The page they said they were missing was my personal information. First of all, how can you be missing one of four pages when it was 2 sheets. Each sheet, 2 pages back to back. Second, how did they contact me went they said the page that was missing had my name and contact information?????. Two months have passed since I started to try to cash out my account with Principal. No luck so far. I would never willing give my money to this company.

spent over 90 minutes on hold, constantly being told I would be answered within 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 2 minutes, then back to 10 minutes. Apauling wait time, I'm sure they have 1 person on the lines, I am cancelling out of Principal!

I renewed my motorhome insurance with Principal for a premium of approx £300 and sold it two weeks later.
I applied for a refund of my premium and expected to pay for the cover I had had for two weeks plus admin costs.
I was advised I would receive a refund in a month but was not advised of the amount.
Over 3 months later I was asked to provide my bank details to pay me a refund of £49.
I wouldn't have minded a charge of £100 or so for temporary cover and admin but £250 is exorbitant.
OK, I should have read the T&C's more closely but going on past experiences of having refunds from many, many other motor insurance I didn't feel the need as all the other companies were very fair in respect of cover and admin costs.
If you are considering buying any kind of insurance from Principal Insurance please, please check the T&C's with a fine tooth comb and ask questions about refund costs if you have any serious doubts about insuring anything through them.

Easy to get a quote off a comparison site. The best price for my circumstances.

i insured my van with principal insurance i have never in over 45 years of driving ever had to give an insurance company my driving licence they only told me that i had to give them permision to look at my licence on .GOV 2 weeks into insuring my van i also have my HGV licence to i also tried to contact principal insurance by phone but it cost me a fortune waiting on them anwering the phone so i had to hang up i also tried to contac them online again had to wait for a long time so i gave up on them they have now cancelled my insurance a disgrace of a company do not insure with them { it prob says in there small print that you need to show them your driving licence but doesent say on the comparison sites before you take out the insurance with them not happy with this company

The phone wait is not good,the information says `wait less than 2 minutes` i waited 14 minutes and was cut off,the second time I called after the less than 2 I waited 23 mins

I had the worst experience ever with a broker insurance , they ask me to provide documents for period from last insurance until I start the new insurance that you can't provide document about no claim or something else, and about that woman who I'm speaking with , she had a really bad attitude and she close the call straight away she didn't solve the problem, and now probably they will cancel my policy just because they request document that you can't provide this is crazy .

My renewal letter stated I had not chosen AUTO RENEW. I was annoyed to find Principal insurance ignored it & took payment without my permission.

Taher Boxwala was extremely helpful and patient helping me amend our motorhome insurance.

These are an insurance broker and use multiple insurance companies. Just read the small print before you purchase. I cancelled my insurance after 6 months after selling my motorcycle and expected around 40% of the premium back but was surprised to only recieve £31 returned to me from a £800 policy. Total rip off. Would never use again.

Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Principal Insurance

I am extremely disappointed with the way Principal Insurance handled my policy and my request to cancel.

My policy started on 05/09/2025.

I contacted Principal Insurance because I had decided not to proceed with their insurance and wanted to discuss cancelling the policy. Instead of handling my request properly and providing clear information about the cancellation process, their customer service team cancelled the policy immediately and without any further notice or confirmation.

What is even more concerning is that, after the cancellation, I requested a No Claims Bonus certificate, which I need for arranging alternative insurance. Principal Insurance refused to provide the certificate, leaving me in a very difficult and frustrating position.

I find this level of customer service completely unacceptable. A customer should be given clear information and treated fairly when cancelling an insurance policy, especially when important documentation such as a No Claims Bonus certificate is requested.

I have tried to resolve this matter directly, but I have not received a satisfactory resolution. I am now taking the matter further through the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that potential customers think carefully before choosing Principal Insurance. The way my cancellation and No Claims Bonus request were handled has seriously damaged my confidence in the company.
