James and Ben at Samba Soccer Schools…
James and Ben at Samba Soccer Schools at Westcliff High School for Boys are absolutely fantastic. They are incredibly patient with the children and have a wonderful way of making every child feel supported and included. They take the time to explain each skill clearly and, when needed, work one-to-one with the children to make sure they really understand and build their confidence.
Teaching a group of young children is no easy task, but James and Ben handle it with such positivity and enthusiasm. They cleverly incorporate fun, playful activities into the training, helping the children develop coordination, football skills, and teamwork without it ever feeling like hard work. It’s genuinely beautiful to watch how engaged and excited the children are throughout each session.
Since my son started attending, I have seen him improve constantly. His confidence, coordination, and football skills have all come on tremendously, and he always looks forward to every session. It’s wonderful to see how much he enjoys learning in such a positive and encouraging environment.
The skills they teach are incredibly valuable, and the care, patience, and dedication they show to every child really set them apart. I couldn’t recommend Samba Soccer Schools highly enough. James and Ben are true gems and a real asset to the programme.

I have had a very disappointing experience with Samba Soccer Schools
I have had a very disappointing experience with Samba Soccer Schools. I booked a free trial session for my son at the Clayhall, Ilford venue and attended today’s 11:00 a.m. session. When we arrived, I informed one of the trainers that we were there for the free trial. He acknowledged this and said the session would begin in two minutes.
However, when the session started, he called only the existing children and did not invite my son to join. After I encouraged my son to go in, the trainer showed very little interest in welcoming him. There was no introduction, no support to help him integrate, and no effort to make him feel comfortable. My son was clearly uncomfortable, and it was disappointing to witness such a lack of professionalism.
It appeared that the trainers lacked proper coaching qualifications or training, especially in areas such as welcoming new learners, creating a positive environment, and supporting children during their first session. Their attitude came across as rude and disengaged. Young children are sensitive, and the way they are treated during activities like this can have a big impact on their confidence and mindset.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. I had a similar experience last week with a different trainer from Samba Soccer Schools. It gives the impression that new joiners are not welcomed, perhaps because trainers are paid fixed pay and not recognised or incentivised for supporting additional children.
I want this review to reach both the trainers involved and the management of Samba Soccer Schools. If you are running Facebook ads to attract new customers and offering free trials, the experience should reflect your brand values. Otherwise, it not only wastes your advertising spend, but also damages your reputation.
My time was wasted, and more importantly, my son had two consecutive negative experiences that affected his confidence. I strongly urge Samba Soccer Schools to invest in properly qualified, professional trainers who understand child development, know how to welcome new participants, and can create a safe, supportive environment for all children.
Based on my experience, I do not recommend Samba Soccer Schools. Please consider choosing a coaching provider with trained, child-focused staff who understand how to support and integrate new learners effectively.

We place a strong emphasis on welcoming new children warmly, helping them settle in, and ensuring their first session is a positive one. I am sorry that this was not the experience your son received on the day.
For context, after your first trial, we relayed your feedback to the coach, but unfortunately he was unable to attend last minute due to a family emergency. The coach who stepped in had not coached at this venue before and was focused on running the session safely and consistently for the group as a whole.
We understand that first impressions are everything, and we are very sorry that your son did not receive the support needed to feel fully involved. All students were new to the coach covering the session, and we understand that you left with your son shortly after the warm-up match at the start, before he had the chance to be properly integrated with all the students and receive the 1-to-1 attention he deserved.
You mentioned that the other coach showed a high level of enthusiasm and that your other son enjoyed that session, which we were pleased to hear. The contrast between the two experiences hopefully shows that this negative experience is not reflective of the standard of our classes.
Many families attend our sessions each week and consistently experience the care, professionalism, and enthusiasm our coaches provide. In addition, we are proud to have many positive reviews on Trustpilot and Google from longstanding members who enjoy our sessions week in, week out. While we take all feedback seriously, we feel that this review presents a particularly harsh reflection of our business and may give readers an unfair impression of the experience we aim to provide. We are genuinely regretful that you weren’t able to experience this first hand.
We work hard to develop the confidence of all students who attend our sessions, whether for a free trial or as members of several years. We apologise again that this experience had an adverse effect on your son and sincerely hope we have the opportunity to work with him again to provide the positive experience we aim to deliver.
We will be addressing this directly with the coaches to ensure that all new joiners receive the supportive introduction they deserve. We remain committed to providing a positive, safe, and welcoming environment for every child and appreciate the opportunity to improve.

My son attended SSS at Mulberry School in Bethnal Green for the past 2 years. He absolutely loved the Saturday sessions and has significantly improved his skills on the ball. The atmosphere is fun, the coaches are super friendly, helpful and great with kids. Highly recommended.
