Very good online lessons with good backup - faster than stated on reply to queries, exam setting and obtaining results. Minor point - more emphasis could have been put on using symbols when plotting on chart for exam.

Clear and well structured lessons. Diagrams and videos are also thoughtful and helpful to understanding the concepts. The narrator was a little humorous too which was nice. Platform easy to navigate. Exam results came back well before the expected time!

The course was well explained, annotated and presented. There were plenty of examples where calculations were used and the support I received was quick and helpful.

A comprehensive course taken at self-study pace, allowing reflection and embedding, and with good staff responsiveness and feedback. Buying two courses cuts the cost!

It was a great experience with both theory classes and hands on practical training with only few people in the courses. This way it was a very efficient training process. I can definitely recommend the courses at the SWAC. Thank you Pete, Alan and all the colleagues of the Chieftain team.

I found it really useful to use. It’s easy to navigate, there’s a lot of information available, and it’s simple to go back and find anything you’ve missed. It helps you pick up on the little details that are easy to overlook before the exam. Overall, it just makes the whole revision process much easier and less stressful.

I used Skippers Online for my Coastal Skipper shorebased course. I have previously done the Day Skipper with another provider.

Great content and very quick instructor feedback (questions, mock exams).

The platform for exercises is not well structured and involves a lot of manual work to check the answers.

Having just completed the Day Skipper practical, the aim of the course is to prepare yourself for the practical. The online courses really focussed the skills needed to enable the instructor to rely your core learnt skills and engage meaningfully knowing that he can say “ok guys we are going to that island today, we are anchoring here and I need a course taking into account tide, wind, weather, depth, obstructions, restrictions CTS etc... whilst we are sailing ensuring safe passage, preparing the boat, doing a brief, checking the engine, briefing the crew”. This is expected day one as the practical homes in on learnt skills from the courses, I.e how to sail the yacht practically.

Really well paced course, with helpful interesting side stories to keep it relevant, useful formats, being able to follow the notes to read or go back on things that weren't clear. App was also useful for listening too while travelling (although that doesn't work for the modules where you need a chart!). I took lots of notes as it helped me to reinforce learning. Lots of subjects and topics covered and I enjoyed it. A bit more than 40 hours though! ;) [I took the day skipper theory]

The course is comprehensive and very clear. You can do it and redo it at your own pace. There are mock exams. The exam itself is beeing corrected and well documented. I recommend highly.

I did the internet based RYA Day Skipper course. Overall it is a very comprehensive course full of practical information to supplement the course syllabus information. There are lots of worked examples and exercises for the student to do. It is well structured and you can see the progress you are making. The course prepared me well for the actual exams. I only gave it four stars because I would have liked some summary information to help me revise. In the end I wrote that summary revision information myself from the course information. The team responded quickly to any questions. It might be a bit harsh to give four stars and I would recommend this course to anyone.

A course for those who lacked older family mebers or friends in the sailing world, and need to be taught in a warm welcoming and at the same time professional environment! Thank you!

Really good course, there is a lot of content to cover through the course and the prerecorded lectures are well structured and paced. Given how many hours you are going to be listening to him the instructor is clear, easy to understand and engaging. Practice questions really test your understanding so you are very well prepared for the final exam.
Very quick turn around on posting out physical materials, marking exams and issuing certificates.
Would highly recommend, and would advise to give yourself a decent period of time to complete if you are doing this in your spare time.
