The Arches is truly a 5 star house. We usually use Premier Cottages as their standard is always very high, but they didn't have accommodation in the High Newton/Low Newton area, and I am so glad that we found The Arches. Our family have spent a wonderful week there. The accommodation was excellent in every way - it was spotlessly clean and the fact that each bedroom had its own bathroom made it perfect for our family of my wife and I, our son and daughter-in-law and two granddaughters. We were slightly concerned that there wasn't a garden, and although it stated in the literature that the house was dog-friendly (and this was one of the reasons for booking) we were worried that there would be nowhere for the dog to be outside. That did not prove to be a problem as the gravelled area at the front of the house was perfect for the dog, and in any case the beach is only a 5 minute walk away. Another perfect thing about the house is that its next-door-neighbour is The Joiners Arms and we spent a good few afternoons sitting outside the pub enjoying a drink after our long walks. The food there is also excellent and cannot be recommended highly enough (especially the take-away fish and chips).

Smallburn cottage was perfect for a relaxing stay in Embleton, comfortable, extremely clean & well equipped, the beds were more comfortable than we have at home!
The only thing that would have improved our stay would have been a fenced area around the seating as our rather athletic new dog was able to jump over the low part of wall in rear garden but that is all.
Will certainly stay again & will recommend to our friends, thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Our second visit to The Arches, because it’s so good. First class quality holiday home, warm, 3 luxury bathrooms, top quality furniture/ bedding and spotlessly clean, great kitchen and in a perfect location for walking the coastline and next to 2 Pubs
The Joiners Arms next door, our experience of the food last November was not good in fact it was terrible, maybe just a poor chef that day, but we avoided it this time and walked 5 mins down to the beach to the Ship at Newton by the sea, great food and local beer, great staff although a little expensive for the size is fish and meat portions, but very nice indeed.
The Jolly Fisherman at Craster was the best food and value, we walked 3 miles along the coastal path and beach and booked a taxi back as it was evening.
Don’t miss out on staying at the Arches, you’ll be hard pushed to find a better quality holiday home, no views but if you’re out and about all day the thought of returning here makes up for that.

Maureen, the owner was brilliant about a very minor confusion and she went above and beyond what she needed to do / thanks for that, it went along away though it really wasn’t necessary.

We shall definitely be returning in February 2023 for a week and I’ll be looking to secure a booking very soon.

Second visit to The Arches perfect in every way once again. Cannot recommend this place enough. Maureen is a fantastic host. Cannot wait to return for our third visit very soon and hopefully many more to come.

I cannot recomend The Arches highly enough. It is very well positioned, the accomodation is imaculate and has everything needed for a great holiday. We appreciated the lovely Christmas decorations, and enjoyed our Christmas break very much.

The house is beautiful a true home from home. Lovely furnishings and exceptionally clean. It's position in the village is great for either just staying local and walking and relaxing or visiting other places of interest. Will definitely recommend and return.

Lynecroft is a very well appointed bungalow which suited our family of 5 adults, a toddler and 2 dogs perfectly. The location is great for visiting many nearby local beaches and some excellent places to enjoy the local cuisine. Highly recommended!

Absolutely the most comfortable house I have ever stayed in .This is our second visit to The Arches and I will certainly be returning again .My Mum and Dad had a fabulous stay and My Dad said he did not want to leave 😊
The layout of the house is fabulous and love the fact there is three bathrooms .Private space for all the family .Its also very well cared for and super clean and cosy warm.
Will be returning again next year .

The Arches is the best holiday cottage we have ever stopped in. Perfect location for fabulous beaches, castles and walks. Lovely quiet village. Accommodation finished to a very high standard.

The Arches is a first-class holiday cottage in a wonderful location on the Northumberland coast. There are two beautiful beaches (and two good pubs!) within easy walking distance and Newton-by-the-Sea makes a great base for exploring the region, with Alnwick (and the supermarket) only a twenty minute drive away.
The house itself is very well-equipped, especially in the kitchen - it is super clean, with comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms and a fantastic space for eating outdoors when the sun shines (as it did for us). My truculent children appreciated the fast wi-fi and the big screen! We felt very well-looked after and that if we had had any problems (we didn't!) they would have been sorted quickly.

Fantastic cottage. Immaculately clean, an amazing location and all the facilities you would need. We will be back!

This cottage was lovely. Really clean and extremely well equipped. Close to the hotel for food and drink and it was a great walk to the beach which is beautiful. Cottage really well positioned for exploring the stunning area. We would certainly stay again!

Outstanding property on the beautiful Northumbrian coast.
The cottage is extremely comfortable with a fabulous garden. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. I have already booked again.
