We were looking for a specific gate and side panel and found just what we wanted online at Smiths. Messaged to ensure they were in stock as we needed asap. Tom messaged straight away to confirm they were so we ordered them. The delivery arrived even before an email advising they were on the way!
Our contractor arrived to install them and sadly there was a part missing from the latch accessory. I messaged Tom to advise and he immediately offered a refund to cover the cost of latch which was so much easier than having to wait for a replacement and pay for another day of installation charge
Problems obviously do occur but I was very impressed with Tom’s service and professionalism.
Would absolutely recommend them

Having first checked that the goods could be delivered within 2 days for a time critical use, the order was placed. When the goods did not arrive I chased up with Smiths. The manager repeatedly chased up the delivery agents but when all hope was gone he jumped in a wagon and delivered them himself. All the way from Newark to Birmingham. Never before experienced such dedication. Thank you Robert.

Message on friday Confirm the order for Monday after 9am waited all day no timber no reply to my message not professional at all could have message me saying can't do it or something like that price change when message them so except that Tuesday got back to me tried charging more so cancelled the order

I’ve never experienced a company that takes on an order before providing the bill first.

Their game is to provide a cheap/decent outlay for goods, then take on the order without providing charges for delivery. Extortionate delivery charges are then added post-order, massively inflating the price to be paid.

I cancelled the order clearly, after being charged over twice as much for delivery as the goods themselves! Delivery was £117.60. Delivery from other sites that actually quote their charges…£30.

I only found out your delivery fees after I had to order the product and setup an account, and then it was way to expensive. Waste of my time.

I feel I have to add this, as after my message above, Smiths Timber messaged saying: "Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and have taken onboard your comments." I was very impressed by this, and thank you for being open to feedback. I have adjusted my score to 4. Well done :)

Placed my order for various pieces of timber in between Christmas and the New Year when the yard was closed and requested delivery on the first working day of 2025… Items were delivered before 11am on that day allowing me to get on with my project… And the timber was good quality - straight and true… I’ve bought from Smiths before but this was great service in my opinion… Many thanks
