I would not recommend this place to anyone. They said that they would do routine checks on each locker daily and let me know if anything happened as I was living out of province. One day I got an email about how my locker was found unlocked. It took me 2 weeks to figure out what happened because they were so understaffed and unorganized.
My friend was going to go to my locker to close it for me, which the staff planned on meeting him there to escort him to my locker. When he showed up no one was at the front for 15 minutes and he tried to find the locker on his own but never did.
Eventually, I got back into town and cleaned out the locker to find out my snowboard and all my gear were stolen out of it. After filing a report with the police to get clearance to review surveillance footage of the locker the staff just said: "they were understaffed and did not have time to do so".
Overall, I am out of a snowboard and expensive equipment and disappointed with the business.

The issues:
1) consistency of staffing;
2) client hours;
3) billing.

I was storing some of my mother's furniture etc when she moved from Assisted Living to long term care starting at the end of 2012. I chose the Barnet Highway location because it was close to my home. I was good at first and convenient but over the years that changed. It seems they had frequent staff turnover and a number of times I could not get in because the office was closed. There were also several times when I would get a message that my account was overdue. I e-mailed the company and was told some weird reason--- something to do with being a non business day but the rent was always due on a Thursday and it was automatically deducted from an account. I was not happy with that. My mother passed away so I emptied the locker. I had not been in the locked for over 2 years but when trying to open it, the sliding latch was bent which created problems. Once open, we could not slide the latch back. I have to say that the 2 women managing the site at the end were very good --- one was the area manager who normally works from Surrey I think.

I’ve had a locker with this company for 2 1/2 years. They didn’t clearly explain billing cycles. It is not rented by the month, but every 4 weeks. This means they get an extra payment each year. The increase in rate was almost doubled in that time. It went from 105.00 without the locker insurance to 182.00. That is ridiculous. I’ve given my notice and I’m in the process of emptying my locker. When I’ve called it’s taken more than one call. The recording says they’ll get back to you right away and I never had that happen. It took 2 - 4 calls and the last time, I never did get a call back and had to go into the office to get my questions answered. The response was definitely not acceptable. Shelley was helpful and apologetic when I went in, but their history of not responding didn’t help. The lockers are well kept, but no place for garbage unless you pay for it. With the high cost of rental and no place to put garbage, lack of clarity and poor communication I’m not able to recommend this company. These things didn’t happen at other storage facilities I’ve used.

I only paid $14 a month for my locker back in 2013 and now I’m paying $42 a month. The billing cycles aren’t even a full month. I get billed every 28 days which adds up if you’re a long term customer.

I have not had ANY issues at all with your Surrey location employees, in fact they’ve been extraordinary! They should all get raises for their good treatment of your clients being on the frontline of your company.

I do have an issue with the billing cycle because of being on disability and only being paid once per month. If there was a way to be more flexible with your payment options, like making smaller payments to catch up that would be much more helpful. I have been behind for sometime because of the 4wk billing v. once a month. It creeps backwards and that’s been leaving me with late payments and additional fees which then leave me short for the rest of my bills like food.

Having said that, I do appreciate that simple communication can remedy it and keep my stuff in storage (even if in ‘overlock’) BUT I would like to be able to pay something towards it as I can to catch up/keep it current and your plan/schedule doesn’t allow that, only full 4wk lump sums and pretty soon I will be a paying my last month fees as soon as my current fees are due.

Again, your Surrey employees are wonderful, helpful, courteous and very friendly and they do a wonderful job!

It works just fine for me. 10 minutes from home and easy access to my storage unit. Staff is helpful if I have any questions. They patrol the units to make sure all units are locked,etc. N o complaints from me!

Staff are great. Hours are great. Price is a bit steep but you get what you pay for which is security and knowledgeable staff.

A little expensive, but great customer service.

my mother and I have been clients for about 10 years, every year the price goes up, yet you give a discount too new clients and your loyal clients, you take advantage of, not good business!

Every interaction I have had with this company has been very poor.

Do not rent here if you have long term rental. Instead if better service or keeping long term tenants happy , they regularly gouge you and raise rates, in the name of better service. I’m out in the spring. Had enough

Customer service is what gave this place 5 stars! They made it so easy and convienient to find a unit as well as check out of one. I was in the office once and that is it. Things are so well set up that a person doesn’t need to keep going in to sign papers. Once the initial set up is done ( which takes 15 minutes) that is it!

Some good features but there are security issues. Also, I found someone running a fitness studio in their locker. Biggest issue is the monthly rental isn't monthly! Charges are taken every 4 weeks so an additional month is charged each year - that's sneaky!

Most accommodating and helpful. Facility is clean and tidy, well maintained; accessible location off highway. Staff are well versed in the storage business, personable and very professional.

Rent was competitive with other companies when I first moved in, but is now significantly more expensive than other places. They keep increasing the rental fees. Also they charge something like $10/month insurance on top of the rental fee, charged per unit, not per account. So if you have 3 small units you pay $30/mo as opposed to $10/mo if you have one large unit. Seems like basically a scam to get more money from customers. Mice/rats. Looks like it's time to throw out some stuff and downsize or maybe even stop renting altogether.
