Takealot refuses to help customers and shakes responsibility

Sold me a broken product then when we went to get it replaced, they wouldn't take it cause it broke lit after 6 months and now we are chasing other companies cause takealot keeps handing it over to them and won't help us at all, even when the company they got the product from said they would replace it and all we would have to do is pick it up. But takealot doesn't want to take responsibility. If you ever want to buy from takealot just know they won't help you. Rather buy elsewhere.

Fake campaign

Fake campaign. Purchased a product where if purchased with a certain banks credit card, there will be a 10% credit returned. It has now been a month and still nothing. I have reached out to them, and they all just say they are going to raise it further up the chain, but nothing happens and no one ever gets back to you. Horrible communication and service.

Takealot should increase the pre requisite to be employed. I purchase a product from takealot in white. Takealot delivered a blue. I logged an exchange for the correct colour. They exchanged a blue for another blue. I logged an exchange for the 2nd time. I received the same item in the same wrong colour. Absolutely appalling that the staff either can’t read or can’t see colour.

Disappointing

While the website offers (or rather, appears to offer) many enticing products, do not be tempted.

Products are listed as in stock when they are not. Fake delivery dates are shown.

Once you pay (yes, they have the nerve to take your money knowing they can't deliver), they tell you the product is not in stock. Or there is 1 product that for unknown reasons delays delivery of the rest of the shipment by so long that you no longer want it.

To summarise, Takealot goes to alot of trouble to keep up the charade- in the process, creating unnecessary work for itself (having to issue refunds) and fraudulently creating expectations.

Just stop! It's ridiculous. I will never order from takealot again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Close Takealot down

This business is an abomination and should be closed down!

Ordered a stand from Takealot, item was listed as heavy duty, item I received was so poorly made it would have buckled under the weight of a match box.

Returned item, ordered a different stand, new stand arrived, it was about 30cm shorter than what was advertised.

Contacted Takealot, again. Email queries were ignored, simply just kept getting copy/paste answers that didn't address anything I queried in the emails.

Asked to escalate issue to a manager who asked me to send pictures of item including packaging, then, in the so-called manager's words, "we can offer some options of a preferred solution."

Sent pictures, manager responded simply with, "Please return item before we can proceed." No options for a preferred outcome as offered in the previous email.

Email conversations went back and forth several times, each time was simply a copy/paste response from Takealot. How is it it possible for customer service to be this abysmal? Untrained elephants could do a better job.

Requested my account be deleted twice now. Under the POPI act they have a legal obligation to action this request and delete the customer's personal data, but they conveniently can't even manage to do this as my account is still open. Response to my emails go unanswered....

It seems there are so many bad reviews about this company that there is no way to leave a review on Google. Why can't people leave you Google reviews, Takealot?

Allow me to extend my gratitude to Takealot for their groundbreaking interpretation of next day delivery. My order, promised for the 1st of May, was thoughtfully rescheduled to the 20th of May—because apparently, my parcel needed more friends in the delivery truck before it could leave the warehouse.

It’s refreshing to see logistics treated as a social experiment. After all, why should a customer’s payment guarantee service when it can instead guarantee suspense? The irony is that I paid the same price for next day delivery just a day earlier and received my order promptly at 12pm. Consistency, it seems, is far too mainstream.

Of course, I wasn’t left stranded. I simply ordered from Amazon South Africa instead, where “next day” still means next day. Imagine that—delivery services functioning as advertised.

So thank you, Takealot, for teaching me patience, irony, and the art of lowered expectations. I eagerly await my next “express” delivery—perhaps arriving just in time for the next season.

Takealot does not deliver even when you pay extra

dered a power station yesterday, 26 April 2026. I paid for next day delivery, today, 27 April 2026. I have been without electricity for 5 days. It was very urgent that I get the power station. By 13:45 today, the app said that the power station had been shipped. But then I got an sms indicating the power station would only be delivered tomorrow. I phoned customer services, the first person undertook to check with the branch and get back to me. She never did. I phoned again at 16:00, again the promise that they would contact the branch where the power station was and get back to me. Not a word back, and clearly no power station. So money wasted on priority delivery and I’m still sitting in the dark with a melted down fridge. The damage is so much more than a R75 delivery fee. My freezer was on its very last legs, it was functioning like a tepid fridge rather than a freezer and needed power tonight. People should be very careful about believing next day delivery from Takealot.com

Takealot is awesome

Takealot is mostly awesome . Ive had some negative issues esp with call centre im last 2 yrs but they do what they say, they sort out issues and have handled all issues ive reported so far really well or made it up to me in some way. Love the platform. Delivery also is good andvpuckup po8nts near..prices at times are better than origional sellers website. Love it

Their service does not even deserve 1 star. Lack of communication, lack of customer service, lack of everything!! They cancelled my order a day before delivery and the order was meant for my daughters birthday. Now she does not have a present!!! I have to wait 5 days for my money which they did not wait for. And this is not the 1st time. I had the same experience 2 months ago. Now I thought to give them another chance and look where it got me.... The most pathetic service ever!!!

I am extremely disappointed at the unprofessional and poor service I received at takealot.com the entire online store is advertising items they do not have the wig suppliers are unreliable even if you buy a month early it will still be a month late and get an update a couple of days prior the estimated delivery which is an inconvenience to us as customers. They lack professional communication I am extremely disappointed 😞 I bought a items on the 25th of February 2026 and only today I receive an update of cancelation which is 3 days before they have to deliver these items the date changed from the 24th of March to 15 April this is insane. It's another month of waiting they must stop advertising items that they don't have.

Takealot - takes a long time to deliver.

I would review them 0 stars. They honestly don't prioritize deliveries. It seems like they would only prioritize your delivery if you pay the monthly subscription fee. It is a south african company but the deliveries take longer to get delivered in south africa. I do not know why takelot has to be so inexperienced and have such bad customer service.

The service is trash

The service is bad. I bought an item there and they took 2 weeks to deliver it. While waiting in limbo I tried to cancel my order but they wouldn't cancel it, instead they sent me an email stating that they'll look into the matter. Guys I just want my money back! It's beens days now and there's no follow up.
Takealot, your service is trash!

Refund not replace

I placed an order with takealot. The incorrect product was sent and i returned it. I still want the correct product but receiving it is not an option because it is no longer on special. They refund me and if i want the product i need to pay the new price. Shameful behavior.

Overall experience

After the first order arrived missing components , the 2nd replacement order arriving missing to only a 3rd time order the same thing , just different version to also arrive being faulty....Then have to replace a 4th order to then go and collect a distance away from me....Definitely has me shocked at what an overall customer experiance this is...Sure right why go and reorder and continue to purchases if Im not happy with service and purchase, the thing is when the matter becomes a reason of integrity and keeping a promise as a gift I'd have hope to been able to rely on Yourselves and services as your business states ... Very disappointed with everything ....
