Wrong product and poor service
I have been a loyal Takealot customer for several years.
As part of my recent purchase, I ordered a badminton set. To my astonishment, instead of receiving the correct item, I was sent a 25kg bag of dog food. While mistakes can happen, I find it quite baffling how such a completely unrelated product could have been dispatched instead of what was ordered.
I could understand receiving the wrong badminton set, but this error goes beyond a simple mix-up—it suggests a lack of care or attention in the packing process.
As a loyal customer, I expect a level of accuracy and reliability that reflects the standards I’ve come to associate with Takealot. Unfortunately, this experience has fallen far short of those expectations.
To make matters worse, their returns process suggests that I may not receive the correct item for several days.
I doubt I will ever buy from them again.
Appalling Takealot.com after sales service
I ordered and item which has a table and chairs on the blue dot sale at 70% off. When it was delivered only the table was delivered - no chairs. I have been requesting for 2.5 weeks for the chairs to be delivered, and I get told that I have to return the item, I will be refunded the amount for the item, and then I can reorder the item again, except at the now non-discounted price, so I lose the discount because takealot made an error in the delivery . . . does that make sense? I have spoken to 7 different customer care people, each of which has promised to escalate the issue and request a supervisor to get back to me within 12 to 24 hours later. Well, it is now 2.5 weeks later and no communication whatsoever and no calls from any supervisor. Is this the level of after care service you want to be known for 😟
Worst experience of my life
Worst experience of my life. What was supposed to be a scheduled delivery on Mon 2nd Dec. Turned out to be a nightmare. Today is the 6th Of December, Still waiting for my order of R5500.00. No feedback from takealot and no answer to emails. Useless company

Takealot used to be my “go to” for online shopping but lately it is a disappointment!
I have two orders that were meant to arrive today. it is now 8:30pm and i still don’t have my orders.
Not the first time this has happened.
It is the THIRD or FoURTH time that i pay extra for delivery on a specific day and i receive sms’s saying delivery will happen before 7 but delivery doesn’t happen. ANGRY
Driver had attitude and didnt want to deliver my order.
My order was supposed to be delivered yesterday and wasnt. Today the driver called and said that they dont deliver where I live. Yet I've ordered on takealot before and had no problems with delivery. Driver had attitude and was being rude. He refused to deliver my order. I havent received my order. I want a refund since they dont want to deliver my order. I want my money back.
Great service
Love shopping at Takealot for their quick delivery times. It was unfortunate though one time when I bought a hair glue and received a counterfeit from a seller. But aside from that, the service is generally great, even when it comes to handling refunds.
ABSOLUTE DISGUSTING "CUSTOMER SERVICE"
I made a purchase on Takealot for a set of 3 MiTags on 17 July 2024 (3 MiTags & cases for R699). I received a "delay notification" email on 20 July 2024 in respect of this order. On Monday 20 July 2024, I received a cancellation email regarding this order, stating that the seller was "out of stock". However, I noticed online that these items were still indicated as "in stock" at Takealot Jhb & CT, but at a purchase price of R999. I placed a new order on 25 July 2024 for the 3 MiTags (with cases) at R999. No issues with this new order.
Regarding the first order, this is just plain disgusting business practice. The price displayed is the price at which the item is purchased. Had this been in a physical shop, there is no way the seller could cancel the order just to obtain a higher selling price (this item never went out of stock and therefore my first order being cancelled was very clearly an attempt to obtain a "better" price for the item/s).
Secondly, I was contacted by email by Takealot on 22 July 2024 @ 14:33 regarding a refund (requested by me on my app as I needed the funds and didn't necessarily want app credit), requesting my banking details. I work for a living and didn't see this email until a couple of hours later ****erally a couple, if even that). At 14:33, I also received an email from Takealot (from a different staff member) advising me that the refund had been processed (to my bank card, not my bank account, via PayGate), notifying me to allow 3-5 working days for the refund to reflect in my bank account (via my card). I initially contacted Takealot on Friday 26 July, confirming with them that the refund was indeed processed, as it was still not reflecting in my account.
There have been tons of emails going back and forth between myself and Takealot now, since Friday 26 July. I have phoned my bank numerous times and they couldn't see any refund lying anywhere, specified for my account. I have excessive attempts to relay these details to Takealot, but to no avail and Takealot simply couldn't be bothered to investigate the matter properly. It got to a point where I simply wasn't even getting a response to my emails from Takealot (same thing yesterday, I emailed yet again and till now, absolutely no response whatsoever). My bank eventually put me through to a different department, who could identify that a refund had been attempted to my card, but that it had indeed failed, and that the refund would need to be reprocessed. The bank confirmed this information by way of an email, which I sent to Takealot as well and asked them to essentially "pull their fingers out of their backsides" (excuse the crudeness, there is simply no other way of trying to express this) and investigate the issue properly. I had previously asked them, on numerous occasions, to check that the funds hadn't "bounced back" to Takealot, yet I received very generic emails in return, with this issue not being addressed anywhere!
I have now just received an email advising that they will check with their Finance Department (AGAIN!!! - how many times does one need to check?). I have done tons of business with Takealot in the past, but this "customer service" has been dismally appalling, to say the absolute very least!
Firstly, I should have been able to purchase these items at the advertised R699, but have now spent an additional R300 purchasing them (despite them actually NEVER being out of stock with the seller/supplier)! Takealot should seriously reconsider doing business with this seller/supplier as such disgusting business practice ultimately reflects on Takealot! And secondly, more than 3 weeks later, I am still waiting for my refund!
DISGUSTING TAKEALOT!! You should be ashamed! On the contrary, I think I need a job at Takealot and it seems one gets paid to do nothing!
No feedback what a terrible experience
I ordered a duvet and the driver broke the bag it came in, I didn't even take the item out of the packaging and logged a return. I was refused a refund but eventually told that they would courier it back to me (not sure why) and then I needed to log the return AGAIN and then they would log an exception.
Sounds good, but they don't reply to me or the courier who told me they need an auth code to collect it. Why on earth would they need to return it to me and me return it again (wasting more time and money), not reply to me or the courier and treat me this way?
Takealot isn't what it used to be, not sure who manages customer services but they need to be fired.

Unprofessional and Unreliable Service
I had a very disappointing experience with your DPD delivery today. Despite my contact number being on the package, I was never contacted. The driver arrived at my house and blared his bakkie's horn instead of calling me. There was no prior arrangement or scheduled time for delivery. When I called DPD's support, they only confirmed delivery but did nothing about the unprofessional behavior. Takealot needs to ensure their partners provide better service to avoid these incidents
Placed an order for an ‘in stock’ item…
Placed an order for an ‘in stock’ item on the 17th of July, delivery only took place on the 25th. Because of the non delivery, I already bought the same product from a different supplier.
Took photos of the packaging before returning the item, as it was slightly damaged (had problems previously ).Return was denied due to damage to product. I immediately contacted Takealot and was informed via e-mail that I just had to contact them, when I received the delivery again and that a refund will be granted.
Item received in much worse condition, raising the question if the Takealot couriers are maliciously damaging parcels. Once again supplied Takealot with time and date stamped photographs to substantiate the damage.
Now I am being told that the call centre is unable to assist, they need to wait for a respond from the warehouse.
How can a company make a commitment, both in writing and verbally (with recorded calls) and then not honour that?
Very disappointed, total lack of customer service.
Disgusting dishonest company
Disgusting dishonest company. I have spent tens of thousands of rands at takelot and I am furious with what they have done to me. They delivered a faulty and clearly opened product which I obviously returned. They then accused me of breaking it and refused to refund it. They are trying to lay the blame on me when they sent me the faulty item in the first place? These people can't be trusted. So dishonest.

They sold me fake AirPods Pro 2, they warrant even usb-c as the ad claimed. they warrant even the better fakes, its worse fake. it was not the first time this happened, they rejected my review their fake product the last time this happened. be careful on Takealot.
It was also clear that the AirPods have been opened and tried then returned since they have marks on the case, but they sold them as new, how disgusting.
The "Ultimate checkout" promotion was…
The "Ultimate checkout" promotion was just a disgusting way to promote their new subscription service! The only way that you could really save during this promotion was if you had a "20% discount voucher", but you could ONLY get it if you had a PAID subscription. I tried to get a paid subscription this weekend but it only gave me free trials. So thank you Takealot! You are living up to your name.

In June, 2024 I ordered a product online from Takealot South Africa I JHB. I was charged twice for the same product. Even though I have sent them proof numerous times their Financial department deny that they have received the payment twice. They keep on blaming the bank. Numerous proof of my bank statements numerous correspondence with them on their FB messenger and still they make me to be a liar. Their name says it all "TAKELOT" SAYS IT ALL. TAKELOT FROM CUSTOMERS. I was contacted by a Manager with the name James who told me that their customer care will contact me I have to wait for the call. I received a message on WhatsApp that they try to call me regarding my refund. While we we talking on the phone suddenly I received a message from my bank and another amount was taken out of my account. I still furious because I contacted this Mr James and he told me their was a problem they will sort it out. Then they start to ignore me. Now I have not paid one time for my product but 4 times. Still no feedback nothing. People should be aware of this company. I will never ever buy from them again. They advertised cheap to rip you off. People be aware of Takealot South Africa
Takealot is manipulating us to subscribe to them
Takealot has launched a subscription service and ever since then their orders take up to 3 weeks to be delivered. Even if it says 3-5 days for delivery after payment an email will be sent confirming your order with a delivery date that's 2 weeks or 3 weeks from date of payment. It almost a scam what they are doing

Have no product and no refund
Was a Kalahari client and have been a Takealot customer since its inception.
Bought an inverter. Item box (not inside Takealot packaging) was delivered unsealed. Did not think to photograph the item when it arrived (my mistake).
Opened the box, charged the inverter and tested it but discovered that the charge only lasts for a short period and that I needed a more powerful inverter. Logged a return within 7 days.
Takealot collected the item.
Takealot rejected the return on the basis that the item had been 'opened' and 'used'. Not sure how it is possible to test and item without opening it!
This matter has been ongoing since March 2024 with Takealot refusing to refund my money.
I don't have the item and don't have my refund
It has been a most unpleasant experience.
I will never shop at Takealot again.
