Beware!

If I don't get a heart attack from my experience with trying to get a home construction loan from this company then I will consider myself lucky. Like many other reviews have said about them, they are a nightmare to work with. My loan has taken almost 6 months to get approval. They constantly want you to send them monthly copies of your credit card bills. They'll lead you on by telling you that you are almost done then they ask for the same things over and over again. I was also never told that I had to use my own money first for the construction of my house because it was a partial loan, but I found that out at the very end even though I had told them over and over again that I planned on using the loan money first. By the time you realize it's not worth it you've invested too much time and money to back out. They will act as nice as possible to you over the phone or through emails but what counts is what you are actually getting. If you can bank or get a loan from someone else I highly recommend doing that.

If 0* were an option it would be zero. Most of their people (especially on the phone) can't answer even basic policy and logic questions let alone anything more. There was one good worker at the Aspen branch but she was like winning the lottery after 40 years getting fake tickets.

They Put a Hold on Payments from Other Banks at Random Times

Made a $1,300 payment on my TD Bank credit card from my Bank of America checking account. They decided to put a 1 week hold on that payment. In the process, several of my other payments were declined. When I called them, they put me on hold 3 times only to tell me they can't release the hold until after a week. They told me that if the payment comes from another bank, it will put a hold on the payment. I made a dozen payments since getting the card in December and this is the first time they put a hold right at the time where I had a huge plumbing bill to pay from frozen/burst pipes!

terrible loan officers. will take you months for approval and they lost or misplace docs. customer service is terrible. do yourself a favor and dont even start the process. they really don't want to be in the heloc business.

TD CASH VISA CARD IS NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE

I have been a TD CASH VISA CARD holder since 2017. Always paid my statements on time in full.Due to some computer glitch I failed to receive the 11/25 and 12/25 e-statements. I was out of the country at the time. Received a form letter on 12/29/25. When contacted the Bank blamed ME for the absence of the two monthly statements. I Paid off the entire amount instantly. The Bank DID then credit the late fee back. I also cashed my reward points. Ten days later I received another statement with more "late payment" fees. When contacted the Supervisor refused to explain the rationale or cancel the egregious charge.
After 45 minute back and forth I canceled my card. TD CASH VISA ended a 10 year relationship with a A++ client for the sake of $3.99.
ADVICE : Don't carry this Bank's Credit Card

DO NOT OPEN CD'S THRU TD Bank. They actually make you have to go into the branch to transfer the CD's to your checking or savings account. No problem opening the cd online. No need to speak to anyone, but VERY hard time to get your money back. They have you speak to numerous people to try to talk you into opening a wealth account, stocks, bonds, etc. They said that is the bank's process. Spoke to upper management and said the same thing. DO NOT BOTHER WITH TD BANK. You have been warned.

There should be a "zero stars" option!
I just called the td credit card line and spoke with 3 different people but none who actually helped me. The second person I talked to was working from home in what sounded like a construction zone and I could barely make out what she said as she put me on hold 3 times. I had already verified my full account number and the last 4 of my social twice on the automated system then she asked me while working at home to give her my full credit card number, which I did not. The manager was equally as useless and transfered me to another line that only had one option and was a dead end after yelling me sge was sending me to a different dept. I have had this bank longer than they were even called TD and it has turned into crap all tbe way around. On top of that they raised the minimum on the account from $100 to $250 starting this January without explanation or any added benefits!

Beware

Beware, if you are a business owner this bank has a horrible customer service, my business account was closed without any notice. Run! All employees, from the tellers to the branch managers, have blank faces and disregard what you have to say. Or, G-d forbid, if you want any explanation, they stop talking to you and walk away from their desks. I am talking about every single branch that I visited throughout the years. The worst bank, unprofessional customer service.

After spending 3 years of fighting my…

After spending 3 years of fighting my loss from TD Bank by complaining to BBB, CFPB and several other ways, the end result was that I took on a consumer loss and that there was nothing TD Bank could do about it.

I moved my money out and closed my accounts only to find them continuously sending me email bank statements about accounts I no longer have and also, for a credit card they already closed 4 years ago. Still, to this day, I get monthly statements for that closed credit card.

Also, when I needed to wire all my money out, they made me go to the branch and wait on a 4+ hour line only to tell me they have a limit and cannot transfer all the money at once, so it was a tedious multi-step process that dragged for multiple different days. Other banks let you do it on the app.

Needed help at customer service. 1 person available. she never looked up from her computer. Teller never acknowledged me either. I finally walked out. I am a handicapped senior citizen and walk with a cane.

TD will not give us our money

My father had a trust account. He died. They don't want to provide the money to his heirs. We dealt with many other financial institutions that were fairly easy to deal with, but after four years of working with TD, still nothing. His account even specified who should receive the funds and the percentages. They keep asking for more and more ridiculous things that are not legally required (gave them death certificate, gave all the legal documents from executor, they required us to come into the office in person). The people I have dealt with seem incompetent, but when I put it all together, it's not just incompetence. They seem to want to keep the money.

I lost 10K because they were understaffed. Bad bank.

I buy and sell homes often. I was purchasing my 12th home this past summer. I went through TD Bank. My lender changed my closing date 3 times, assuring the sellers it is because she was understaffed and there were no issues with my loan. She said "I am absolutely going to be approved." I own a home with my daughter in FL. I am the only one on this loan. They asked me to prove my daughter paid the mortgage for the past 24 months. I proved it. Two days before the 3rd extension date and the 47th day, 2 days after the contract expired they declined me. They said if my daughter paid me the mortgage money and I paid it I would have gotten the loan. I lost $5500. of the 10K deposit I gave, (The owners gave me half back) and I lost the $3,000 I spent on the inspection. I almost sold my home, which would have left me homeless. I went to two other private lenders, both told me everything in 2 days. TD Bank dragged this out 47 days. I would not have lost my money if they told me this in a timely manner. Their excuse "its summer people are on vacation." A bank?? Summer is when people buy homes? They couldn't account for that? Mind you in 12 homes I've purchased this has NEVER happened to me before. Worst bank ever. They can comment back about this or that, but the bottom line it should NEVER take a lender 45 days let alone 47 days to give you a response. Bad, bad practice. I hope they go out of business.

It becomes most inconvenient bank

It's so sad that our favorite bank becomes American most inconvenient bank. Our family 3 generations everyone has an account with them since Commerce Bank. Recent years, we have had so many troubles with them, locked ATM card, extremely hard to get issue solved by phone, limited small amount withdraw abroad ATM, high fees for non-TD ATMs and foreign transaction fees, etc.
The worst is the customer service by phone. My dad's card was locked and was out of country. He called the customer service. To verify his identity, he was asked 3 ridiculous questions by a woman manager:
1. what is you credit limit? --there isn't credit limit for debt card. How could she ask this question?
2. which branch was your account opened? --so many branches around, how do you remember at which one you opened your account 20+ years ago?
3. what's name and amount the last check you wrote? --barely writing a check nowadays, how do you remember?
So he failed verification, he was told go to the branch although she knew he was in a hospital bed. My dad requested to verify with the latest statement but was rejected. He also asked to talk to her manager and the answer was she WAS the manager and no more managers. She was so rude during the conversations.
Bottom line is if you can't physically walk in a branch, no problem can be solved. In other words, you must be healthy and be able to walk, as well as not be out of east coast where TD has branches.

No Service, poor representative of TD Bankhe bank is holding up payments to me…

The bank is holding up payments to me from Amazon and zelle .
Forget about getting anyone to answer phones ive been calling from 8:30 to 10am no one answers phone.

Whats going on with this branch???
The worst service ever. I lived in Port St Lucie West , NY and PA. Never had such poor service or lack there of

Ultimately I will have to physically go there to try to get anything done. Im 77 year old veteran, not well enough to physically go there i will get a friend to drive me

Disgraceful representative of TD Bank.

Formal Complaint – Unprofessional Conduct at TD Bank Branch (214-32 Jamaica Avenue, Queens Village, NY 11428)

Dear TD Bank Customer Care,

I am writing to formally report an extremely unpleasant experience I had at your branch located at 214-32 Jamaica Avenue, Queens Village, NY 11428.

During my visit, I was treated in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner by the customer service staff. The two customer service representatives used inappropriate language and spoke to me in a rude and demeaning way. When I asked to speak with the branch manager, the situation worsened — the manager himself was dismissive and insulting, calling me names and supporting the staff’s behavior.

All I wanted to do was deposit a business check into my business account, yet I was met with hostility and humiliation. Such treatment is unacceptable and unworthy of TD Bank’s reputation for professionalism and customer care.

I strongly recommend that TD Bank Headquarters review the conduct and management practices at this branch and take appropriate action to ensure no other customer experiences such disrespect.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and corrective action.

Gallactically deplorable customer service if you call in.

What I can say is this. You should add a zero satisfaction rating option. Lengthy hold times with an option to have them call you back. When I selected that option this morning, the recording said "callback option cancelled, you can stay on hold to talk to customer service" TD Bank customer service is deplorable. Last time I needed to talk to them I waited so long I hung up and went to the branch, where everyone is very nice. They told me they had to call the corporate call line to help me and said that they have to call in the same way I do, and it's terrible.

Poor customer service

When there is a problem with a recurring value on my credit card the branch refers me to the banks customer service phone. When prompted to talk to an agent the line goes dead. Its been that way for weeks. As I said the branch will not help in Union NJ. The clerk tried when I was sitting at her desk and did not get through. I already have started a new checking account at another bank but its a real pain due to my auto payments.
10/16/25. Finally got through to a voice, this was a pain, will limit future business.

I’ve been a loyal TD Bank customer for…

I’ve been a loyal TD Bank customer for 13 years, and recently, I faced a government shutdown that delayed my paycheck. I overdrew my account by $200, and despite my circumstances, TD Bank kept piling on overdraft fees until my entire check was consumed. When I requested fee reversals, they only refunded a fraction, leaving me with significant financial strain. They didn’t inform me about any government assistance programs, and their customer service was extremely unhelpful. In total, I was hit with over $700 in overdraft fees, and they refused to refund more than a minimal amount. This experience has been incredibly disappointing. Additionally, TD Bank recently pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering and agreed to pay over $1.8 billion in penalties for violations of the Bank Secrecy Act. Given all of this, I strongly advise others to avoid TD Bank. Their practices feel unethical and lack genuine support for their customers.
