Soft plastics

For several years, I have been happily recycling my soft and hard plastics at my local store. To my surprise, I discovered today that the recycling section at the Arklow store has been removed—without any prior notice or explanation. When I inquired at the customer service desk, I was told it was removed because people had been disposing of household waste in the bin.
I find this disappointing, especially since I’ve often observed staff replacing the bags, and the volume of soft plastics being recycled was remarkable. Given the growing issue of plastic waste, shouldn’t the responsibility for recycling soft and hard plastics lie with these stores?
Has anyone else noticed the removal of this service at their local store?

Tesco Mahon point, on multiple occasions the price labels are either incorrect or not scanning properly at the till. Employees would benefit from proper traning.

Tesco rush

Tesco rush has the most rude, nasty manager (blonde woman) & customer service desk worker I’ve ever encountered. Absolute despicable attitude from both of them, wouldn’t receive that from any other store. Shocking behaviour will never be back.

Lovely new girl in Tesco Express…

Lovely new girl in Tesco Express Shankill. Pity about the men working there. I'm local and have been going there for years but they never make eye contact or ever say 'Hi'. These things are important. Time for more staff changes, i think.

Mouldy grated cheese for sale

Mouldy grated cheese for sale - Tesco own brand. Over two weeks in date - bought on 21st Feb. Date on pack was 10/03/25. Huge lumps of mould in the pack and it ruined our family lasagne after I had put the grated cheese on the top layer. Really disgusting. Some big flaws in the supply chain or refrigeration leading to huge food safety issue.

Just had another home delivery from Tesco Bloomfield. Excellent without a doubt. Lovely guy delivered our shopping which was complete and well packed. Thanks Tesco Dun Laoghaire!

Tesco in Killarney… Rude staff member

Tesco in Killarney… just met the rudest checkout lady! Unfortunately did not get her name. Asked my daughter who is 31 for ID to buy wine. She would not accept photo ID on her phone even though it has previously been accepted by other staff members and snapped at her saying ‘ I don’t have to accept your ID’ She ended up getting the wine elsewhere and wasn’t asked for ID . We spend a lot of money in Tesco most days of each week but will certainly be looking at alternative shops. Very disappointed as staff are usually so nice!

At Tesco The Crossings (Adamstown)

At Tesco The Crossings (Adamstown), after I paid for my shopping realized I had forgotten to bring a bag, which generally isn't a problem.

Turns out, they had none of the usual 99-cent bags in stock. Staff told me they were on order. The only options were:

* Paper bags, which were useless since I was commuting by bike.
* €6 reusable bags, which felt unnecessarily expensive for a last-minute fix.

I even ran through the section where bags are normally kept, and an employee kindly walked back with me to check, only for both of us to confirm that, yes, there really were no standard bags available.

At this point, I asked to speak to a manager, because I genuinely couldn’t understand how a large Tesco store runs out of basic shopping bags. The manager (Silvia? Sylwia?) was polite but had no real solution or interest.

The only options I was left with were:
- Pay €6 for a bag I didn’t need.
- Get a full refund and leave without my shopping.

What surprises me is that Tesco would rather process a refund for a €50 purchase than find a simple workaround like waiving the cost of a bag or offering an alternative. Feels like a total lack of problem-solving mindset, and honestly, it was just frustrating.

I would like to express my…

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the recent online shopping and delivery experience I had. I placed an order for delivery today, Sunday, 23/02/2025 with the expectation that it would be delivered as scheduled so I could cook and prepare my meals for the week.

Unfortunately, the delivery was not made as expected. I spent the entire day at home waiting for the delivery, without any food available. I had to call the costumer service after 1 hour delivery late. I had to call customer service myself, spending over 10 euros on the call, waiting to be attended.

So the drive said he ranged the bell, nobody answered. No one rang my doorbell at any time during day. I only missed a phone call, and I called back a few times, nobody answered.

I dind't receive no further communication about the situation.

After trying to resolve the issue with customer service, the only solution provided was that the delivery would not be made, and it was suggested I cancel the order, as they didn’t even know if the delivery could be made the following day. I was told they would leave a message for the manager to review the situation on Monday.

This is the worst service I have ever received from a supermarket. I usually order by Supervalu, Lidl. I tried Tesco and i am very disappointed. Now, it’s 18:30, and I’m still at home with no groceries and no resolution in sight. I want to have dinner, i have to order fast food or leave my house this late to shopping. I placed my order was before 10a.

I am extremely frustrated with the lack of commitment and communication on your side.

Re Tesco Ardkeen Waterford.
On visiting the above store on Wed 12th Feb 25 c 5.20pm it transpired your staff checkouts were all out of order and we had to use self checkout. Pandemonium ensued but your staff, in particular, SALLY went above and beyond to create calm in a very stressful situation. She helped all those in need, listened to complaining voices, kept her composure and her usual friendly self. A huge 👏 and a massive thank you to her & Angela who was at the entrance door advising people of the problem while being generally ignored by some very rude customers. Both ladies are a credit to your store and if bonuses are given they deserve a little extra. As I'm complimenting your staff I need to make an extra special mention to Thomas. He is ALWAYS so friendly, kind and very helpful to every customer he encounters. You are lucky with all your Ardkeen staff but I think anyone who goes above and beyond needs an extra mention. Your Ardkeen store manager Andrew is a true gent also and I've noticed it's never beneath him to help customers and his staff alike. Well done all and thank you for making my shopping at Tesco Ardkeen, Waterford, such a pleasure.

Went shopping today in Tesco, i asked girl who was working in the veg area where can i find aubergine and courgette and she asked me if that is kind of fruit??? i was so suppressed that their staff can't recognise fruits and vag, looking at their job application and millions of questions i am wondering who they hire for the job...

I visited tesco in wilton tonight. My child ended up in CUH while we were visiting my mum here in Cork after getting everything I thought I needed my contract less phone payment wouldn't work I was in an awful state. This beautiful lady on self scan name Arlene came to my rescue after trying everything she could and having rude customers shouting at her because at the time she was on her own she actually paid for my child's things with her own card and told me just go and see to him that was more important than money. She excused herself a few times from me to deal with the others but came promptly back to help me. Never have I came across such kindness from a stranger I'm my life. I've since returned the money to her but she made such a horrible time in my life not so horrible. I hope to see this lady again before I go home. Tesco I would like to say I don't use your shops in my area because I find the staff rude please keep this in mind. Your staff are what keep customers not your name. Patricia

I purchased a 15 Euro prepaid number…

I purchased a 15 Euro prepaid number and it's not working. Arrived without credit. Customer success is not helping & they provide misleading information on the webpage. Looks intentional.

UPDATE:

After endless talking with the customer service without getting a solution, I just did a chargeback for the transaction.

NEVER TESCO MOBILE AGAIN.
Unless you like horrible service.

I was in Tesco and picked up some roast beef,the sticker said half price so when I scanned it in, it came up 20 euros,I called one one the supervisors and she scanned the meat and said that the price is 20 even though it said half price, so unless the beef was 40 euro originally ,which is impossible she lied,extremely unhelpful, Tesco rob their customers with fake offers, customers beware,avoid Tesco in clarehall

After filing a complaint against an employee in the Tesco maynooth store in November I believe I was told I would receive feedback from the manager in regards a very curt employee and come January I have not received a word.

I have been shopping at Tesco for decades I considered a very bad form
