Long-time customer—disappointing experience and rigid policies

I’ve been a Frye customer for nearly 30 years, which makes this experience particularly frustrating.

I recently ordered the Carson Piping Bootie in the same size (8.5) as a pair I already own. The new pair fits materially smaller. After raising the issue, Frye acknowledged that this is effectively a different version of the boot with a different fit—despite being sold under nearly the same name.

I requested a simple exchange to a larger size (which is in stock). I did not ask for a refund—just a size exchange so I could actually wear the boots.

Frye refused, citing their “final sale” policy, even after escalation and review.

Policies are understandable, but they should not override basic fairness. When a product’s fit changes without clear disclosure, customers should not be left with something unusable. At a minimum, an exchange should be offered.

This was an easy opportunity to stand behind both the product and a long-time customer. Instead, Frye chose rigid policy over reasonable resolution.

Very disappointing—and enough to make me reconsider the brand going forward.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent purchase from Frye. While the Carson Ballet flats appear to be well made, they run larger than expected. When I attempted to exchange them for a smaller size, I was informed that exchanges were not permitted. It was only then that I learned the item was final sale. Despite the $115 price point, neither returns nor exchanges were allowed. I wish this policy had been communicated more clearly, and it significantly impacted my overall experience. For the hefty price and terrible experience, I will not be purchasing from the Frye Company again.

Their harness boot is a total piece of junk. Its not leather. Mr. Frye would be spinning in his grave. This company must be owned by private equity who are sh***ing on the brand history.
Go buy another boot (like tecovas justin dan post or durango)...anything but this junk.

Frye boots are NOT true to size. ORDER SMALLER

Frye boots are NOT true to size. I normally wear a size 9 and ended up with a size 8. I purchase 2 pairs and still didn't get the sizing right and ended up purchasing from Amazon because Frye didn't have my size in stock and frankly I was tired of dealing with them. I purchased one pair on December 1st and the 2nd pair Decmeber 8th and DID NOT SEE MY FULL REFUNDS ON MY CREDIT CARD UNTIL FEBRUARY 3, 2026. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT RECOMMEND. The boots are great but FRYE CANADA is AWFUL to deal with.

I would give zero stars if that were an option. This company is a scam. I was under the impression that this is a legitimate company. But when you contact the customer service, the first thing they say is that they will send us a $100.00 Walmart gift certificate if we give them our checking account number. When we decline that and to pursue our call, if this case to return the boots, we get immediately hung up. This has happened repeatedly. This is wrong on so many levels and dishonest.

This is the absolute worst shoe company…

This is the absolute worst shoe company I’ve ever dealt with in my life. I bought a pair of $400 shoes seven months ago. The heel came off of them. They were purchased at Nordstrom‘s but I was past the 90 day return policy. I called Fry understanding there was a two-year warranty on all shoes and was told that there is absolutely no warranty and they would do absolutely nothing to help me. Worst company ever. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy any shoes from them.

Horrendous customer service. The boots themselves are ok, but they are not true to size and they will not let you exchange your purchase for a different size.

We never received our package and have had difficulty trying to get either a new order shipped or store credit or our money back. The customer service is very unhelpful and consistently states that they will call us back and never does

Horrible experience. Bought two pairs of boots. Ordered one in stock size by accident. They said it is a final sale so they will not exchange for the correct size.

Bad manufacturing

I wore the boots twice. something is wrong with the oil applied to the boots.I purchased them on Saturday 12/13/25 I did not get the boots wet.
I let Frye know i was happy to send the boots back to them. They told me there was nothing they could do as they were bought by a 3rd party company but it is in no way their fault they merely sell the boots they do not manufacture the boots.

Their size description is so in accurate then unlike the boots I’ve gotten in the past. This is cheap leather. Nothing like the old ones done. I bought many times before. Yet the price is astronomical now. Then they lie about sizes that are available. And then they want you to pay to send backthe product that they can’t accurately describe. I hope the $12 in shipping and shitty new leather was worth losing a lifetime customer

I am deeply disappointed in Frye

I am deeply disappointed in Frye. I purchased a purse and about four months after purchasing the anchor holding the strap came loose. I contacted Frye in accordance with the WRITTEN warranty policy (before the expiration of one year) that came with my purse. I requested repair or replacement and provided them with a copy of my receipt and a copy of the warranty and pictures of the broken anchor. I was told that Frye does not honor their WRITTEN warranty. I responded that because they will not honor what they put in writing I will never purchase another Frye product. I had purchased several Frye purses over the years and now that I know they will not warranty them I am done.

These boots are made for taking your money!

I tried to return a pair of western boots that don’t fit. I followed the return process on the website and they can’t find the order. I searched the Internet to find a phone number as their website does not list a number. I called the number ((800-926-3793) five times to try to generate a return. Each representative generously wanted to give me a $100 shopping card directly to my checking account if I would give them my routing number. I told them I only wanted to return my boots and get my refund. They said they would generate a refund and then hung up. This happened 5 times with 5 different representatives. They obviously have no customer service. Please don’t waste your money and time with this company. I will turn the boots onto expensive planters.

No help! Inconsistent or potentially counterfeit!

I purchased a pair of FRYE Cognac Carson ballet flats directly from the FRYE website. When they arrived, they did not fit correctly, so I ordered a second pair in a half-size smaller to compare. When the second pair arrived, I immediately noticed that the two pairs did not match in quality, construction, or appearance, even though they were sold as the exact same product.
The first pair was stamped “Made in Mexico,” came in the typical Frye packaging, and reflected the craftsmanship I have always associated with the FRYE brand. The second pair, however, was stamped “Made in China,” came in a completely different style of box, and the leather and overall quality were noticeably inferior. The shape, stitching, and feel of the shoes were also slightly different. These inconsistencies strongly suggest that the second pair was not the same product or was potentially a lower-quality or knock-off version being sold as authentic on their own website.
I contacted FRYE customer service and provided detailed photos showing the clear differences between the two pairs. Despite this, FRYE refused to take responsibility or offer a reasonable solution. They apologized but stated they would not accept a return because I was past their return window, even though the issue was not simply a matter of fit—it was a matter of receiving an inconsistent or potentially counterfeit product. Their only suggestion was to use their FRYE Exchange Program or resell the shoes myself, which is unacceptable for a product purchased directly from the brand at full price.
I have been a loyal FRYE customer for years and have purchased multiple pairs of boots, purses, wallets, and bags. I trusted this company, and I never expected to receive two completely different versions of the same shoe or to be dismissed by customer service when I raised legitimate concerns. Their response included excuses but no actual resolution, leaving me stuck with shoes I cannot wear and do not trust.

I made a purchase of a pair of shoes online and then immediately after the purchase they emailed and said it was a final sale. What?! I never in a million years would ever purchase shoes with a final sale! Never. These people are crooks. Do not buy from this company! They emailed and said they will not allow a refund or exchange and on top of it added a website to sell my shoes online on thefryeexhange.com Lol what a joke.
