Up until a two weeks ago I would have given Thunderbird a 4.5. It had been my email client for maybe ten years and rarely did I have any problems, and when I did they were easy to correct.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed I was no longer receiving any emails! BIG PROBLEM! It took an hour of digging to find out that Thunderbird was now requiring OAuth2 security. Interesting was that I had received no prior notification. I'm guessing that something in the latest update triggered something that, instead of saying 'you've got two weeks..blah, blah, blah" it just shut me off.
It will take me about 30 minutes to solve the problem. Went to my email provider, two hours later that's set up. Went back to Thunderbird. TWO DAYS LATER and still can't get it to connect!!! Then I find out on the internet that there are major issues setting up OAuth2 if you don't have one of the top four email providers!! I don't, but have never had an issue. The problem is compounded by the fact that there is NO HUMAN SUPPORT any more. Basically I'm on my own to try and figure out why it won't connect. I have scrutinized each and every setting and tried every option I can find but NO CONNECTION. So now I'm faced with having to change email clients.

Ich habe bei Google meine pin geändert und darauf hin wurde mir Zugriff auf Thunderbird von Thunderbird untersagt. Der Zugriff auf Thunderbird wird schon seit 2 Tagen blockiert und bei jedem Thunderbird Aufruf bist du ein Neustart zwingend.

Seit mehreren Versionen treten unter macOS (aktuelle Version) reproduzierbare Probleme mit Thunderbird auf.

Beim Versand von E-Mails kommt es zu inkonsistentem Verhalten:
Nachrichten werden teilweise nicht zugestellt (bleiben ohne Fehlermeldung im Postausgang oder werden scheinbar versendet, erscheinen jedoch nicht beim Empfänger) oder werden doppelt übertragen. Es entsteht der Eindruck, dass SMTP-Bestätigungen nicht sauber verarbeitet oder Verbindungsabbrüche nicht korrekt abgefangen werden.

Auch beim Empfang über IMAP/POP3 zeigt sich ein unzuverlässiges Verhalten. Teilweise werden neue Nachrichten nicht automatisch synchronisiert oder erst zeitverzögert angezeigt. Ein manuelles „Abrufen“ führt nicht immer sofort zu einer Aktualisierung.

aktueller Thunderbird-Version
aktuellem macOS
unveränderten Servereinstellungen

Subjektiv hat sich die Stabilität mit den letzten Updates verschlechtert.

Funziona bene e credo che al momento sia il miglior client di posta elettronica. Il fatto che sia open source è un chiaro valore aggiunto.
E' disponibile in Microsoft Store, aggiungendo la comodità che si aggiorna da solo.
La cosa che davvero manca, a me come molti altri utenti che chiedono la stessa cosa a gran voce nei forum, è la possibilità di sincronizzare così come avviene con Firefox in modo tale da avere più installazioni di Thunderbird su diversi pc e che le impostazioni, gli accounts, ecc... restino sincronizzati tra i vari dispositivi. E' una funzione che da molto tempo aspetta di essere definitivamente implementata ma che alla data odierna non è ancora purtroppo disponibile. Spero venga presto resa disponibile ma aspetto da molto tempo questa funzione e ancora non è stata implementata.

Les deux plus gros défauts de Thunderbird :

Les anciens messages reçus sont en gras, ainsi que les nouveaux. Alors que les nouveaux devraient être en gras et les anciens en écriture fine.

Impossible de transférer un message individuel vers des contacts groupés.

I downloaded thunderbird to see if it could replace the horrible new outlook program from microsoft, regret to say no it can't. Adding an email address is fairly easy but I struggled to read the font in the messages column as the font size was microscopic. I tried altering the font size in the settings but this would only change the font in the reading pane which ruined the spacing between the lines and appearance and readability of the message. They need to spend more time on getting the basics right and less time on adding bells and whistles.

Thunderbird is crap when you ever want to search (or find) anything. It will always show results in some form of crappy 'summary' which just in the way. Want to search something special: not working.
Clear which search you are using: hahaha, there are three searched within an inch of each other and all behave different (or the same if you want it to really find that one specific email).

Hoping that i will sync all folders with your mail provider? Not happening.

Not an outlook competitor and with this attitude that will also never happen.

Thunderbird checked all my boxes. I have it installed on Windows 11. It integrated very well with my iPhone contacts, my shared calendar entries, and has an excellent view of all my email inboxes. And it's free. I gladly donated.

nach 3 stunden Suche kann ich immer noch nicht die caldav. web.de Benachrichtigung ausschalten obwohl ich das Konto gelöscht habe. Hilfe aus dem Netz vollkommem sinnlos

Thunderbird este clientul de email pe care îl recomand oricui vrea o soluție gratuită, sigură și fără reclame. Spre deosebire de multe alte aplicații, aici nu ești bombardat cu bannere sau oferte ascunse – ceea ce face experiența mult mai curată și profesionistă.

Ce mi-a plăcut cel mai mult la Thunderbird:

Este complet gratuit și open-source, fără reclame și fără costuri ascunse.

Poți gestiona cu ușurință mai multe conturi de email dintr-un singur loc.

Oferă extensii și teme pentru personalizare, ceea ce îl face foarte flexibil.

Sistemul de căutare și folderele inteligente te ajută să fii mult mai organizat.

Este stabil și funcționează excelent chiar și pe calculatoare mai vechi.

Configurarea inițială:
Unii utilizatori pot considera că setările IMAP/SMTP sunt mai tehnice, dar în realitate nu este o problemă – în câteva minute poți rezolva totul. Mai mult, poți apela la ChatGPT sau alte unelte AI pentru instrucțiuni pas cu pas, ceea ce face configurarea mult mai ușoară chiar și pentru cei fără experiență.

Concluzie: Thunderbird este o alegere excelentă dacă vrei un client de email gratuit, fără reclame și cu funcționalități avansate. Îl recomand tuturor celor care apreciază siguranța, libertatea de a personaliza și mai ales liniștea unei aplicații care nu încearcă să îți vândă nimic. Pentru mine, a fost și rămâne un instrument de încredere.

Der Kalender springt auch nicht automatisch auf die aktuelle Woche, alter wo leben wir denn...

Ich komme von Outlook und das war ja schon beschämend, aber wie ich sehe gibt es Gründe warum Thunderbird kostenlos ist, da niemand für den Müll bezahlen würde.

Wenn man solche Dinge wenigstens einstellen könnte, aber nööööö

Nutze Thunderbird seit rd. 20 Jahren. Macht was es soll und hat nützliche Add-ons (Quicktext). Allerdings nerven mittlerweile Meldungen über fehlende Zertifikate, die sich nicht ausschalten lassen. Auch die Übersichtlichkeit hat in letzter Zeit gelitten

Mittlerweile verwende ich Thunderbird schon seit über 10 Jahren. Klar gab es hin und wieder mal kleinere Probleme. Diese ließen sich zum Glück relativ schnell beheben.

Alles in allem, funktioniert aber alles zu großen Teilen problemlos.

O.k. Thunderbird ist kostenlos und somit (leider so gut wie) alternativlos. Ansonsten gehört es zu den sieben Plagen der Neuzeit. Allein der Versuch, die Mail-Adressen in vernünftiger Form zu exportieren oder gar auszudrucken - ein Routinevorgang eigentlich - führt zu groteskem und unbrauchbaren Daten oder Papierwust. Wie sagte schon Helmut Schmidt mit Blick aus seine Wasserrechnung (die für ihn unverständlich war): "Es gibt zu viele Leute, die sich nicht in die Lage anderer versetzen können!" Den Begriff "Nerd" gab es damals noch nicht...

A word of warning to those who have an icloud.com email account. After using Thunderbird several years suddenly I was getting Authentication Failed messages, reinstalled the latest Thunderbird and was still unable to log in. Neither could I log into my Mozilla account to seek help. So I decided to uninstall Thunderbird for the last time. If you have iCloud stay away from Thunderbird.

I've used Thunderbird for years, probably more than 15, after it being recommended by a relative. It WAS fine, but more recently, it has become unusable! My laptop is not the quickest anyway, but TBird has in the last year or 2, chose to "not respond" for 2 or 3 minutes, and I recently reached breaking point. First option was to search the support pages, but it seems TBird's creators have chosen to blame AV software, rather than address the issue. Funny, I've just installed the free version of Outlook, and on the same machine, with the same AV setup, it works fine, being no more laggy than other programmes on the same machine. The creators keep asking for donation, and I was tempted a while back, but I'm glad I didn't, maybe lack of funds IS the issue, but I feel it would just be throwing money away. Surely their days are numbered unless they get a grip on reality!
