Protection from property fraud and more!
I registered a single rental property with Title Guardian for free via the NRLA (a sort of landlords club). I'm an accidental landlord and getting on a bit so anything which would keep me at arms length from property management is a blessing. I was surprised, and a little shocked, to receive an alert from the Title Guardian app on my phone regarding a company director registered with my name and birth month. So I'm now pursuing this with Companies House to find out whether it's fraud or not.
Putting the shock aside, I'm impressed that Title Guardian flagged this up for me even though it doesn't apply to the property that I own. So I feel reassured that I would be similarly alerted to any potential fraud related to my property. I get this free for one rental property through NRLA membership but I can imagine that it would be worth subscribing for any landlords with multiple properties to track. Title Guardian provides reassurance that attempted fraud regarding ANY property - not just rentals - will be trapped and the owner notified.
