Super friendly and efficient delivery
I was kept informed on my delivery and the gentleman who delivered it was super friendly and efficient. The whole process of buying from utility from picking fabrics to delivery has been great. Such warm, knowledgeable and honest interactions with all staff. Not just trying to get that sale.

Unfortunately, these items were placed during the summer holiday period, when many manufacturers operate with reduced capacity, which did slow things down. The whole experience with ultility team…
The whole experience with ultility team has been a pleasure. From leadership team being amazing hosts in the showroom, knowledge of team and advise and the delivery guys, also very knowledgeable of product and assembly. They have been 3 times recently and really care about assembly, complementary on purchase and take all excess packaging. 1st class

Terrible comms
Bought a HAY balcony chair in red on 3rd August. Was first told this item was unavailable in galvanised steel… which was never the colour I ordered. Then when this was cleared up I was told there would be a wait of 1.5 to 3 weeks. Well it’s 12 September and there’s no chair. I’ve emailed twice for an updated and been ignored. Not good given the price I paid!

Hello and thank you for providing your order number. I’ve reviewed your order and can confirm that the Hay Balcony Lounge Chair – Hot Galvanised option was mistakenly shown on our website listing which was the option you selected. Our team emailed you on 13th August to clarify this, and after further correspondence, we confirmed the correct colour was Iron Red.
Follow-up emails were sent to you on 14th and 15th August,
Once your colour preference was confirmed, we placed the order with HAY. Their own stock was temporarily depleted due to their summer 20% discount sale, but we now have a confirmed shipping date from Denmark of 15th September.
Please rest assured your chair will be delivered as soon as possible, and we will ensure you are kept fully updated moving forward.

Appalling company
Appalling company, I recommend avoiding purchasing from them online. I ordered some Jellycats, they use DPD to deliver, no email from the company or text from DPD. They were returned to Utility Design by DPD because I wasn’t in, no notification or ability to have delivered to my neighbour, a pick up point or left in a safe place which is standard. This company is now who trying to charge me £20 for the privilege.
Luckily I paid via PayPal and am charging this back - clearly trying to scam customers, there is no way that a small parcel would’ve cost £20 to deliver. There are plenty of other great online retailers selling Jellycat, this is not one of them.

I’m really sorry to hear you’ve had a frustrating experience with your order. We use DPD for all deliveries and according to their delivery log they attempted delivery on three occasions, leaving calling cards and sending text notifications each time. Unfortunately, when parcels are returned to us after multiple failed attempts, DPD automatically charges us both the outbound and return delivery fees, which we are then obliged to deduct from the refund as set out in our terms and conditions.
We completely understand how disappointing this must feel, especially for a smaller order like Jellycats. As a small independent business we always try to keep costs fair and transparent, and we’re always looking at how we can make this clearer in the checkout process to avoid surprises. However, we have refunded you in full.

Order confirmation NOT honoured!
Today I ordered two '&Tradition Flowerpot Pendant Light VP1' in matt black on the website of Utility Design. Price per lamp: £132.
I paid £264. in full by debit card and forwarded the order confirmation believing that everything was in order.
90 minutes later I received a phone call that only one lamp was for sale at the price of £132. The second lamp would cost £178. The person that called me stated that it was an error on their website that allowed me to order two lamps. Utility Design did NOT want to honour the ORDER CONFIRMATION that they had emailed me earlier in the day.

Hello - Please accept my sincerest apologies. The lamp you purchased was in our clearance sale as we sell off surplus stock at 40% off. You purchased 2 though our stock holding is only one in this colour. The sales team had offered to order another one for you at our standard sale discount but as this is a clearance item (surplus stock) obviously we would not be ordering another to sell at a loss but they offered this option to you even though we will not be stocking this range again. We can of course refund you for both if you would prefer. Perhaps you can advise the sales team how you would like to proceed?

Brilliant service and gorgeous products
