Operator offered a service I did not know about to save me money. The process was seamless. Consolidating my expenses is a big plus. Volusion has been very receptive to my needs.

Platform is outdated,. Reporting convoluted or impossible.
Significanttly better SaaS platforns out there.

Largely a good experience. Every ecommerce offering has its plusses and minuses, and it's hard to get the best of every one in a single service. With an upgraded account you have access to good import/export utilities and the google API which makes it simple to make bulk changes and publish your feed to sites like google, et al.

I'm not a fan of the walled garden of images and pages. If I have a few hundred or thousand images to manage, the thumbnail and alternate image sizes are not trivial to change. You must resize them on your own and store them using the Volusion naming scheme, as only those file names are used for the specific image types…for example we recently changed templates and the file sizes uploaded were not appropriate for the new template. Files needed to be re-exported out locally from master PSD files and saved using the Volusion scheme and re-uploaded. Sure, it's a simple Photoshop batch operation, but one that shouldn't have to be done.

And, other cart software may allow a designer to make specific changes to category and product pages as far as content goes. But, with Volusion if the field is not specifically outlined as one of the sparse variables you can enable/disable, then you're out of luck. We wanted to display our part number--a common field in the database-- on our category pages and in the shopping cart. In other software it may have been as simple as editing those page templates and adding the [productnumber] field. But, with Volusion it was a clumsy hack to get them displaying on the category page. I'm still waiting to hear from the dev team as to how we might get it listed in the cart.

But, it's not all bad. Those two negatives notwithstanding, the experience has been positive. The free templates offer a good starting point for those with modest CSS and HTML experience. The API generates good code that uploads to google well. Managing the SEO at a product level is fairly straight forward, if not for a slew of clicks to get there on a product by product basis. Once done, our rankings on the search engines rise quickly. And, customer service is responsive and usually able to offer constructive suggestions.

Great ecommerce platform and good support. The lack of a user forum to share ideas brings it down a star for me. We've been with Volusion for over 10 years with 3 stores and we are happy with the service.

Although it has a lot of capabilities, I am vey computer literate, and use all kinds of software in my job all day every day, and it was not user friendly- too complicated and time consuming to learn. I chose shopify instead, and it was much easier to do the same things.

Andrew in sales was phenomenal, and listened, and helped, and was so patient, and in general the customer service team was very kind and; but not as knowledgeable as I would have expected, given the complexity of the back end of the site.

I have been using volusion for over 10 years. I like the platform and the costumer service is great.

Volusion continually makes changes without informing customers, which often has an adverse effect on the customer's website. Also, when contacting support, I will get different solutions to the same problem among various reps. It's very frustrating. The USPS integration has also been a major issue because it either doesn't work, or has major issues at random times.

Volusion was great when I had them. The themes are nice and the website functions well. The major issue I had was that I needed assistance with EVERYTHING. The platform just requires too much backend knowledge and without it, you can't do anything on your own. I would have to make a list of things I need done and call customer support (again, great customer service and the people know their stuff) to get them all addressed so I don't have to make 18 different phone calls. It took me almost a full year to get my website how I wanted it. What threw me off was the loss of features when I downgraded my account and the annual SSL renewal. In the end, I switched to Shopify because the platform was easier and all costs were included. I pay less now than I did with Volusion, I get a million more features to offer my customers, and it took me 2 days to completely rebuild my website and inventory with no help from customer support.

Difficult to handle large amounts of products. My store has roughly 30,000. Also, Volusion software only connects to a very limited amount of add-ons, you are constantly having to find and pay for connector services or have a developer custom make one. For example, Volusion doesn’t connect to MailChimp without paying for a connector called Vextras. Gets expensive to run you business the way it should. Volusion doesn’t even connect to Trustpilot, need to hire a developer to make that happen.

Volusion has a wide selection of options to fit almost every website no matter how unique. Our website is very unique and we are able to use some of the options to do what we need. We definitely push it to the limits.

I have to commend the tech support team, specifically the overnight staff. Stephen is by far the most amazing, Will is great too. These two have been a huge asset to my website!

I've had an online business for over 16 years and I've been with Volusion for about 6 years. Prior to moving my site to Volusion, I had headache after headache on other platforms. I have over 4,000 products, each with multiple options for colors and sizes and customization. My customers comment on how easy it is to find and order what they want. When a problem arises, I have no trouble reaching Volusion support. The staff is knowledgeable and quick to help. I could not be happier with the way my website looks, how it works and the cost.

They have been very good making all meeting and answering all our questions. However I can’t find my website doing a web search so I’m sure others can’t and they can’t tell me why.

Since I have found Volusion I have been extremely happy with the tech help that they have. Every one has been very helpful and actually acts like they are glad to be able to help and to please get back a hold of them if I ever have a problem. This is very unusual. I have had a website for 10 years before finding volusion and NEVER have I had the tech help like I get from Volusion. Their prices are reasonable. I do have one complaint and that is the charges that you get charged if you go over your alotted bandwidth usage. I read a lot of reviews before signing up with Volusion and each one warned about the problem with the bandwidth usage. I have around 1500 products that I have had to put on and so, of course, have used a lot of bandwidth but in the first 3 months that I have been with Volusion I have been charged right at $1,200.00 for their hosting and the overages on the bandwidth. Needless to say, that hurt big time. I think that for the 1st month they did reimburse me for $500.00 which really helped but that is a tremendous amount of money to have to spend when you at just getting your website set up. Other than that, they are a wonderful company (in any way) to deal with. I would recommend them to anyone. But, I would also have the warning about be aware of the bandwidth that you are using. It can kill your budget.
