University Hospitals Birmingham

The complaints procedure at this hospital leaves a great deal to be desired. From a very simple complaint lodged at the beginning of December is still to be resolved with an apology.
I had an appointment on 5th November but as was about to leave home received a telephone call telling me not to attend as the clinic had been cancelled and would receive another appointment shortly.
My GP subsequently received a letter stating I had failed to keep the appointment!
Now what is the answer when told not to attend when the clinic apparently was not cancelled. Who is at fault here? All I am asking for is an explanation or is this asking too much of the NHS?

Highly unlikely to find worse…

Highly unlikely to find worse degenerates, even in the worst countries in the world. NHS is killing me and my fellow humanbeings. I am very sad to know that the NHS wants people to suffer and die rather than doing a decent job. No words are enough to describe this useless lifedeminishing nonsense of a setup.

I was told by the Kingston Hospital…

I was told by the Kingston Hospital Dental section that because I needed, wanted a calming injection, I would have to wait 6 weeks and that was when I already had a pretty violent toothache. I only had four teeth left and after I reluctantly accepted their six-week delay, I was then given an appointment ... 'tomorrow morning, half eight', I tried to explain I was on blood-thinning pills and needed at least four days to stop them, but it came across as, come in when we tell you or don't come in at all!
Having bitten the bullet and attended this appointment I was then told 'You can't have the sedation, and you either have them out now, or I don't know when. Maybe, two now and two some other time?
I elected after so much time had passed to go with having them all out at the one sitting, two on each side of the mouth. And then she got to work. I can't explain what the ordeal was like and I've no intention of trying to, except to say, I'm an ex-soldier, and in my time, have been shot at on more than one occassion. Guess which one I prefered?
"Don't worry," she told me, "it will take two to seven days for your mouth to settle down but it won't hurt much in the meantime."
This is day eight and there is no sign on my mouth starting to get better. I am still in a lot of pain, I was bleeding for at least three days and I still can't eat more than soup and I lost half a stone in just two days. Thank you, you money-grabbing bunch of butchers. I, and people like me, cannot help having no money to pay your exorbitant prices. Your profession holds the ordinary older citizen of this country to ransom, and you should be shot! Remember this, you nasty greedy scum! We're the generation who made it safe for you to attend your posh schools in order to become dentists, I, and people like me, faced getting shot and killed for this once proud empire in Borneo, Aden (and for those of you who don't know where this is, probably because you're too busy counting your houses, it's in Yemen! And the non-military people of this nation worked from sun up to sun down to give nasty specimens like you an education! You ungrateful bunch of scumbags. Thank whoever is up there, I won't be needing you anymore in this lifetime!

Utterly unacceptable service

Good evening,

I have recently attended an appointment at The Royal London Hospital on Whitechapel Road , the Ophthalmology Outpatients Clinic 2, on Thursday 9/02/2017 at 9am.
I absolutely understand that the appointment was free but I would still think that the staff should treat their patients with kindness and compassion and most of all respect.
I must say that I was not pleased with the process nor the way my situation was handled.
After a few painful tests and one of the three doctors that saw me handling my eyes like they were potatoes (I do not remember his name unfortunately) I have been told that I may have glaucoma in one eye. I am 27 years old. I was terribly shocked and scared. I did not know what to say, or what questions to ask and how to ask them and the doctor did not care. He acted like I only had a cold.
When I handed in the form to the receptionist I was told that I can be seen in about 7 weeks. She was absolutely rude and did not even look at me, instead she was chatting and joking with the other receptionist. I nicely asked if she could book me earlier as I was scared that my condition would worsen (which it is getting worse by the day). She rolled her eyes at me and just said ‘’There are no appointments.’
So I left the clinic in shock, barely seeing as my vision was blurred and being very scared of my future.
Since attending the appointment I have felt utterly depressed and unable to go on with my life.
I do hope you will respond to me and let me know how you will deal with this issue. I assume your doctors have taken an oath to protect and not bring any harm to living beings but I only see the opposite of that. I do not think that the way your staff treat patients is right. If your patients feel the way I feel at the moment, then you have a very serious problem that needs your immediate attention.
I look forward to your response. Thank you
