First off, years ago, the first time I used Better they sold my location and told me "tough, your membership is cancelled." Albeit with a month's notice.

Then my company had a corporate rate so I rejoined. However, a few months back, they simply migrated my account to my local council without notification/approval. I then had to call 3 times to speak to someone who would approve my membership remaining with GLL. That should have been the second indicator you're not dealing with a serious organisation.

Today, I receive the email with the subject saying:

MEMBERSHIP CANCELLED.

With the body of the email simply stating:

The reason for the membership being cancelled is as follows:

unknown

I've paid my dues through March. So one of two things will happen here:
1) you reinstate my account and extend me into April.
2) you refund me 3 month's worth of membership fees.

Frankly, I prefer the latter so I never have to use you again.

It was very good customer service. Fast and easy to change the Time slot for My daughter.

I found from the reception of the Vauxhall Leisure Center kind and helpful member of the staff. All the desired information was presented to me. To the activity chosen by me everywhere is clean and tidy. It is very pleasant around. The staff members is always besides, taking care of our safety. My gratitude to them

So far iam enjoying time at gym, and service has been great.

Really enjoy the Vauxhall Leisure centre. Staff is lovely and very helpful and keep the space tidy. It would be 5* if they would speak with some users that are occasionally rude and also consider that closing a lane for one swimming lesson is annoying as we have to crowd the other lanes and it's not pleasant, especially as some of us have disabilities.

Joined for the year at the Vauxhall site and it’s been a BIG mistake. Most of the other centres were not included as they moved under lambeth management.

At first I didn’t think this was a problem because the centre looked amazing and I was quiet smug that I’d gotten a good deal by signing up for the year (there was a discount as I am on Universal Credit.)

At the time the fee worked out cheaper than my standing charges for electricity and gas so I felt like it was better to shower there. Turns out that’s all I did and I must be smelly because I rarely showered there or made use of my membership.

I couldn’t sign up to classes on the app because they was no availability. When by some miracle, I was able to sign up, I was charged a cancellation and late fee. This was probably because my card had not scanned properly. When I complained to staff they did waive the fee but it took a lot of hassle and multiple attempts and emails.

Then I noticed things were broken: soap dispensers, hairdryers, lockers. I reported them but they were not all fixed. Those things you could say are luxuries and not essential but it was still annoying. However, the lift has been out of use for months and they have taken no responsibility for it and have blamed the Atlas building next door for it.

Good luck trying to swim or use the sauna (never able to do it) because it’s severely restricted and only open a few hours a day.

Then after all of this they have the cheek to up their prices. I cancelled and still haven’t received my partial refund for the 5 months I paid upfront.

I can’t afford to waste more energy worrying about how much I’ve lost and changing their staff online or at their centres. That is if you can find their staff, you have to ring a bell and they can’t wait to get rid of you or point you to the useless app. Perhaps they just don’t enjoy their jobs, I wouldn’t if I were them to be fair.

I’ve lost my money and the opportunity to get fit in a gym. Please don’t think Lambeth will be better. As for private gyms, Im sure they are cheaper or more convenient but who will you talk to when something goes wrong?

This has been a hard lesson for me but it doesn’t have to be for you. Stay away from this so called “charity organisation” (it has charitable status so pays no tax) because it won’t even allow disabled people to use its gym thanks to the lack of lift access. Of course, most people will only care if it happens to them.

As for anyone from better reading this, I’m sorry you have a soulless job where you are just a puppet for lining the pockets of your bosses at our expense. I’m sure if he’ll exists there is a special place for you and I will enjoy torturing you there. Ooops it doesn’t because hell is already here on earth and justice doesn’t exist.

It’s so bad, I almost want to end it all but that costs money too and well the state can’t afford to pay for my burial either. Serves me right for being stupid enough to sign up. If you read this then maybe freedom of speech still exists, who knows these days…

I left in the past as when renewing my corporate membership they froze my membership and I wasn't able to book any activities for a week. This time it went really well and Ben was very supportive and helpful.
Also, I'm really pleased to return to the Vauxhall leisure centre. I really love it there.

The pool and the changing room were very dirty
