Hard no on Buildzoom
Sooo, apparently BZ didn't like my review and had it removed. Likewise, they also removed my critical review from the BZ website because "the contractor disputed it". Conversely, BZ, Trustpilot and other review sites seem to have no issue with posting positive reviews for BZ that are vague, brief and offer little detail. I will note that the company employed a contractor to do work that he was neither qualified nor permitted to perform resulting in multiple violations and costly repairs on our behalf. When I notified BZ of this they ghosted me. Interestingly, this was a company that somehow had a rating in the 180s (excellent rating). According to BZ's website, their criteria for rating companies is primarily work experience, customer feedback, licensing and certification, responsiveness and communication, and "additional factors". My experience was that this company failed in at least 3 of those categories. BZ decided to ignore my feedback in not posting my experience with this contractor and the result was that their rating was not impacted and other customers will not have the benefit of knowing how this company (aided by BZ) does business. I am truly beginning to wonder whether review sites like Trustpilot and BBB are really more about aligning themselves with businesses and protecting their own self interests than in advocating for and being a resource for consumers.

Sneaky, Snaky Company
We have a contractor profile/account with them and all they do is steal money from small businesses. Pretty sure they have no customer service reps, can’t access our payment methods, can’t pause leads or delete the account. I have called 4 times, sent a email and even sent a website submission. Nothing. We were charged for a job out of state! No one to assist with this. Most leads we received were garbage (a small number we provided estimates for and/or won) and they changed the way they charge for them. We had to decrease our job mileage radius to 0 miles and our job max cost to $2.00 so we quit getting charged. Bogus, sneaky, snaky company. And I have the evidence to prove it.

Do NOT USE Buildzoom
I contacted Buildzoom to help me find a contractor to renovate my bathrooms and floors. After paying them $5400 they brought me three bids and reviewed the bids. They advised me based off my scope of work to go with GM Development but stated that it was my choice. I hired Buildzoom because I have no idea who to trust and have no contractor experience. Buildzoom looked over the budget and contract and said it looked all good.
I then went ahead and paid the contractor $5K and it has been a disaster. The contractor continued to harass me for money without doing any work. What work did get done (demo of my master bathroom) he stiffed all his subcontractors and never paid them resulting in the subs coming to demand the money from me. In one case the sub showed me a text from the contractor saying to ask the homeowner for the money, even though I had already paid the contractor for the work. The list of breach of contracts goes on.
Buildzoom this whole time washed their hands of putting me together with this con-artist and when I asked for their help all they would say is to compromise with the contractor. When I asked them to look over the Client Termination Clause to cancel the contract (at this time I had already lost over $10k) they said they would not and that I was on my own.
Save your money DO NOT USE Buildzoom.

We're sorry to see that you had a poor experience after you hired a contractor, our goal is always for property owners's to find reliable contractors. Our property owners are in full discretion of who to hire on their project. When someone reaches out for help, we reach out to the contractors because there are always two sides to every story, and contractors are our customers too. If we find a contractor is acting in bad faith, they are removed from our network. Our team and myself have been responsive in assisting you in navigating post-hire support during this time.
Since we're not a regulatory agency, it's very difficult for us to do anything beyond giving property owners resources and guidance on what they can do on their own (such as filing claims with state recovery funds if they are available, contact info for their state attorney general, how to file a complaint with the state licensing board etc.)
However, we're not able to look over any legal documents, such as a Client Termination Clause, and the support we can give is recommending people reach out to a legal professional to review those. We provided you with a list of options and recommendations for how to move forward.

The current Montana State Licensing information was provided to them to verify that the plumbing business is in MONTANA and not in Texas.

I was excited to be able to leave a great review for contractor Billy Linneman. Via your website, he has been able to provide a lot of information that I searched for online but couldn't find when I initially hired him (like his licensing, Workman's Comp Insurance, etc.). A year ago I hire a general contractor from zoom builders reference list.. everyday I got email from zoom builders to rank a service even my GC did not start yet to do work. A. GC “E square development” absolutely irresponsible people. They screwed my 40000 project. When I called and e mailed to zoombuilders for help they
immediately turned into helpless people who were not responsible for their actions. I did not get help from them.
Thinking twice or seven times before hire this irresponsible people from zoom builders.

At BuildZoom, we carefully evaluate contractors based on multiple factors to ensure they are a good fit for clients. The contractors found on BuildZoom are not employed by BuildZoom, nor does BuildZoom have its own network. We evaluate contractors based on a lot of different criteria to determine if the contractor is the best fit for your project and how reliable they are. Things such as (but not limited to) the number of permits they’ve filed in their lifetime (and in the last 12 months), the number of jobs they’ve completed, the types of jobs they completed, the reviews they receive on different review platforms, the number of years they’ve been in business, their bid-to-hire rate, their licenses, and how responsive & engaged they are with both their clients and BuildZoom. All of these factors, and more, go into their BuildZoom score that ranks them among other contractors in their local area.
While contractors listed on BuildZoom are independent and not directly employed by us, we take contractor accountability very seriously. When concerns are raised, as in your case, we investigate thoroughly.
In response to your claims of BuildZoom not responding, on March 19th, a few days after your initial contact with us, we responded to you with a set of regulatory interventions you could take against the contractor. We do not tolerate this type of contractor behavior on our site, and when we find out that they have been acting in bad faith, we block them from receiving additional leads, which we have done with E Squared.
We regret that this situation unfolded and that our response may not have met your expectations at the time. We are again sorry to hear this has happened, and please reach out to us again if you require any assistance with completing the list of regulatory items we sent to you.

Great service & price
Not sure why I am being asked to write this review a second time. The service we recvd from Dave, @ Ed's plumbing and electrical was excellent. Bathroom emergency, toilet let go, came timely, professional job, very reasonable price for replacement of both our toilets, and did bring what I requested, comfort height toilets with slow closing lids. Neighbor recommended them and we were very happy with the response and results
