I stayed at the Country inn in Onterio Ca. I would not recommend it to anyone. Upon arrival i was asked to stay in a different room than the one i Booked, if i wanted the a different room i would have booked the other kind, she didnt say why she wanted to put me in it but im guessing from all the kids around and the ones playing football outfront in the parking lt they needed the one I booked, I overheard something about a soccer tournament or game. I took the smaller room just so i could get into it i just had driven 6.5 hrs in LA traffic. Was exspecting to hear the kids all nite because i did hear them in the hallway for awile but i didnt after about 10pm. The place is not a quility place in my opinion, there was alot of broken tiles on the floor in the lobby area and i also noticed quit a few in the at the elevator entrances. My room had a funky smell but not enough to try and hassel another room, i got use to it. There was multiple broken/cracked tile in the restroom as well, the scary part was the crack in the rimm of the toilet, as i sat i was crazy nervous that it was going to collapse and id get all cut up from it, could you imagine calling for help (if i could get to the phon) and have to have people come to me from the toilet collapse. The bed wasnt bad pretty comfortable i guess. Over all from the lobby then my room didnt have a good clean feeling. The breakfast the next morning was gross, water eggs and rubber sausage, should have opt for the dry cereal but didnt typical 2 star hotal breakfast. Was a little nervouse because all the parking in the front was full so parked in back and there was a several homeless people around so bit nervous from that. I real problem i had was there "policy" I had booked my stay for 4 nights for work though rewards on my credit card and paid for it, I got my work done early and was checking out 2 days early so the night before i left i asked about it and was told no problem they would refund it to my card but I had to do it through my card which i did and called them, The lady called the hotel to verify and the lady said no problem but had to do it through the hotal manager and had to call after i checked out. Exactly what I did but guess what NOW its not the policy to refund if i leave early, after i was told it was no problem. My credit card travel talked to the Manager and same thing, so now aftr i check out and they can rebook my room to somebody else and get the revenue twice because I left early and no refunds for me. DIRTY CROOKEDD & DISHONEST. The manager could have worked with me on it because i will be returning to area in a month but insteed wanted to be hard nose. So now they will loose the revenue from my next trip to area and the neg review here and other sites and all the pepole im in contact with in my travels and friends and family, They loose MUCH more than if the would have worked with me or just refunded they days I didnt use, VERY poor "Policy" and management, Ther are multiply other better scale Hotels in the immediate area that will get my future and friends business. I really wish i would have takin pics but didnt think of it till after.

My room deposit was never returned. $200 taken and not paid back

I went out of my way to stay at Choice Hotels for around 5 years for their "stay twice, get a free night" program. A few times, I got a free night but there were enough times where there were various reasons not to reward the free room that I finally gave up and now avoid them.

I booked one particular night , they send me a confirmation for another, absolutely different day!!
the "hotel" I've got was a sort of Motel 6 for an overblown price. These are SCAMMERS!
avoid if you can.

I made a mistake with the specific weekend and called to request a modification. Not a refund, just alter the dates. They refused. The gentleman I spoke to was extremely pleasant but was adamant his hands were tied. I called the front desk of the actual hotel and they were very happy to switch it for me at no additional cost. Phew.

I booked a room in Santa Rosa. Two weeks later I received a cryptic email stating that Choice Hotels sold the hotel, that they don't know who they sold to (I am not making this up: "While we don’t know the new name of the property..."), that they don't know the status of the reservation and that they will NOT issue a cancelation. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with various Choice Hotel agents who were all very unclear on what will happen now to my reservation and charge. This is beyond unprofessional behavior. What a waste of my time.

I've left reviews, contacted Choice Hotels, and done a BBB complaint. They have ignored everything. They will not refund me for my terrible stay in April. Many things were wrong with the room but the worst of which was the bed bug bites that developed and were all over my body. Their website promises a response in 24 hours. It's been a month and nothing. Someone quickly responded to my negative feedback to their survey then vanished after I said an apology was not sufficient for this severe issue. After waiting weeks and sending follow up emails with no reply, I used the contact us form on their website that promises a response in 24 hours. I looked at their BBB complaints and numerous ones mentioned bed bugs. Stay away from this chain! They are awful and then ghost customers. I have pictures of my bed bug bites and have offered to send them to multiple people at the company. They would really rather lose a customer than just refund less than $200. Nasty and stupid company.

I tried booking a room over the phone and they charged me for hotel points that I never received- saying my card declined.

They have not reversed the charges. They ran my credit card for $288.40 three times.

I used to travel a lot. And I stayed at choice motels all the time. This is my first time-traveling in a long time. I stayed at 4 different places. Only one place was really good. The first place lost its power, which was not their fault. The third place was so dirty. I wouldn't even take a shower or eat the food. Even though they had high ratings of 4. The fourth place I stayed 2 nights. After the first night I requested to be moved to a new room. The air conditioner was not working and making lots of noise. That kept me up half the night. The vinyl floor with sticky. The shower was dirty. And I just so happened to look under the bed. I took photos of what I saw. Don't look under the bed. You will not like what you see.

Beware: My Room Was Robbed – No Help, No Security, No Accountability

I stayed at MainStay Suites Las Vegas Convention Center (3045 S Maryland Parkway) in May 2025 and had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. My locked hotel room was broken into sometime between Saturday evening (around 6 PM) and Sunday morning (9 AM) while I was out with friends attending a concert.

All of the following was stolen from my room: • My green card • 8 bank cards • $2,000 in cash • 2 luxury handbags (~$2,500) • Balenciaga sunglasses ($500) • Jewelry box (~$2,000) → Total estimated value: over $7,000

Even worse than the theft was how the hotel manager handled it: • He refused to check the CCTV, claiming it “wasn’t working” • Wouldn’t file an incident report or escalate to anyone higher • Said theft is the guest’s responsibility • Refused to show electronic key card logs for the room • Was rude, unhelpful, and dismissive throughout the process

This is extremely concerning because I had lost my room key earlier that day (05/17/25), and the same manager issued me a new one. He knew my room number and also knew I’d be out all evening. The room had no safe, no security protocols, and apparently no functioning surveillance system.

I filed a police report and contacted Choice Hotels Corporate but I want others to be aware: this property is unsafe, the staff is unprofessional, and there are zero protections for your belongings.

Think twice before staying here — especially if you value your safety, security, or belongings.

Walked into the lobby to check in and it smelled like they had used an entire warehouse of Fabuloso cleaner.
All of the lamps in the room had such low wattage light bulbs you couldn't read comfortably.

People were smoking on the balcony and it smelled horrible. I don't consider this as being smoke free.

I went to take a shower and the bathtub was dirty. There was hair and other things I couldn't identify in the bathtub. We had to use the sink to wash, yuck.
The second night we stayed, we were woken up at 3:00 a.m., to a lady yelling and cursing at someone.

To say we were happy to leave is an understatement.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Scammers!! They said they would charge $90 and then took $120 out of my bank without any paperwork or authorisation and are refusing to refund. Taking up with my bank and will also be looking into legal action to take these scammers down. I have clear paperwork saying $90 so BE AWARE. They blame the motels saying its individual responsibility of each motel when they promote a lieing scamming choice hotel discount membership free if you sign up to a newsletter online.

I regularly use BOOKING.COM normally and just thought I would try some different companies, but please trust me when I say BOOKING.COM is a million times better!!!!! DO NOT USE THESE CHOICE HOTEL SCAMMERS, someone needs to get them shut down.

It's crazy. I'm traveling due to death in a family. I drove from 4:30 in the morning until 5 in the evening I was tired. I wanted a room and I say I'm a platinum member and these people are full of choice rewards and then they say there was 15 people took all back in head of a line. Inform me and I never gotta call back someone I call today. I guess they're offshore. There may be Filipino or Asian people who is very brazy. Brassy and had an attitude talking about what we're doing our best. We're doing our best to help the customers last night. Your best is not best for me. When I had to sleep with my Lexus. As you need, give me a break and then all I get it as an attitude which you guys. I'm getting pretty fed up with this fool machine this week. Comfort and sweets and they're reward program. And then I still didn't get over that situation that happened last summer, where comfort Inn on Bush River Road in South Carolina accused me of smoking in the room when I had went to the hospital the day before only extended the room out. Because I didn't have the fortitude to go get another room high in sight. It would have been better to do that because they moved me from A. Roach invested hotel the night before comfort Inn suites to the one on Bush River Road and end up keeping my deposit because I emptied my purses. I used to model and we're a different person every day sometime 2 purses. I mean, who would be dumb enough to smoke in the world when there's no smoking, when I could have purchased a smoking role, they want to tell a lie and live on it. Greed is something else.

No blankets in the room. Had to request, and they provided old frayed ones. The room reacked of heavy de-odorizer spray or the like. Went to put some food items in the refrigerator and the unit light was on but was not cold, checked the temp setting and was on the coldest setting, otherwords was not working or working properly. Went in to take a shower shortly after and no hot water.. called the front desk and they suggested to just run the hot for about 30 MINUTES.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I then mentioned about the refrigerator not working (properly) and she said they would a send a technician to look at it tomorrow. That might work for the next guest, does little for my stay. I will NOT recommend to anyone to stay at CHOICE HOTELS.. Not to mention the paint patch spots all over the room and bathroom, the overspray from painting on the bath window and around the baseboards. Not even going to check for bed bugs or the like, let someone else have the pleasure.
I am relatively easy and have had some good stays and some issues with rooms in the past, but for the expense and with today's technology you would think 🤔 these things would be better by now. I want my money back, and maybe all of it as I made these reservations well in advance.. You OWNERS better take note, or maybe you just don't give a sh*t...

Choice Hotels @econo lodge christiansburg, VA your hotel is disgusting! I booked a night on 4/15/25 and the room was so gross! Water damage, smelled terrible and there was fresh BLOOD on my blanket! When I called to complain I didn’t even get an apology! The hotel offered me a 25% refund! For fresh blood on my blanket, you should give me 100% refund! When I called @choicehotels I was offered 8000 points and that doesn’t even cover a one night. Stay anywhere nice! Do better this is disgusting! I would have given zero stars if possible!

Choice hotels directed me to bluegreen vacations which is also a part of choice and my money was taken I was not allowed to utilize the vacation package and my money still has not been returned to me in over a year

Choice Hotels are one of the world's largest hotel franchisors, representing over 7,000 hotels in 41 countries including the Radisson, Cambria and Quality Inn. Their rewards program allows you to transfer points to a number of airline rewards programs such as British Airways, United Mileage Plus, Qantas Frequent Flyer, and Velocity. You earn points for hotel stays plus you can buy them.

It was not long after I purchase 230,000 points when I received an email to say I had earned a ‘free night’. But when I tried to claim the free night, it was refused.

Despite the e-mail and promotional material I had received that clearly stated I had earned a ‘free night’ – in truth there was no free-night. Choice Hotels claimed I misunderstood the offer, and it was to redeem points to book a free night. But my points were paid for not a reward for a hotel stay, so if I used them to book a hotel room it would not be ‘free’. If I were to apply their explanation of using points for a hotel room then it should have said 29 nights not 1.

I don’t believe this was a deliberate attempt to deceive, but a case of a poorly designed marketing campaign implemented with little thought and without the necessary legal advice.

So, given the ‘you didn’t understand’ response I received, I filed a complaint against Choice Hotels with NSW Fair Trading. Rather than apologise and honour the offer, the initial reply by Choice Hotels to Fair Trading said this was 'a user error in the redemption process, compounded by incorrect advice being provided by the call centre operator'.

In other words – it was my fault.

It’s fair to say, their response is not acceptable to me, nor has it been acceptable to Fair Trading and the case continues.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Fort Erie on Hospitality Dr. It’s one of the worst hotels that I have ever used. On checking in I was asked for my credit card to pre- authorize for incidentals. I asked how much they were going to pre authorize and was told they do not know, it could be up to $400. After the pre authorization was done, they still could not tell me how much was authorized. The final blow came when I went to take a shower only to find out that there was no hot water. After waiting over 2 hours. The problem was not fixed and they had no idea when a plumber would show up.

We stayed at the Comfort Suites in Humble, Tx for three nights. The first night I couldn't sleep due to the room being so close to the Sam Houston Pkwy freeway and the noise from the traffic was extremely loud, we wondered if the window was open, but it was not. The last night we found a giant cockroach in the bathroom and once again I didn't sleep well due to wondering if the hotel was infested with cockroaches. The management said there is nothing they could do about the cockroaches. I called the hotel before booking the reservation and asked if the pool was open, and they advised that it was open. When we arrived, the pool was full of green/black water and the sign on the gate to the outdoor pool read, "Out of order". I asked for some type of a refund due to not sleeping well for 2 nights and the mis information regarding the pool, but they said all they could do was give us "additional" points. I explained that wouldn't work for us since I wasn't planning to use any of their points. The manager advised she would speak to the owner and get back to me, but they have not responded. I called the 800 number, and they also offered additional points, but no refund. I will never stay at another Choice hotel.

I booked a hotel room for one night. Provided my address with the booking. When I went to check in I was told I could not check in because I was local to the area. They told me the disclaimer was included in the listing, it was but it was in fine print in a “see more” section that no one ever looks at. They still took my money even though I provided my address and knew I was a local resident. Poor business practices with this company and I even have to wait up to 20 days for a refund when I paid for a service that I was refused.
