I was very concerned given other feedback - but pleased to say my experience was excellent. I called and requested an auto call-back which I got (1700 on a Friday) from a really helpful guy (Viv) - my claim wasn't actually being handled by them, but he redirected me to another company, got me the number etc and was inordinately helpful. Absolutely nothing to dislike on this occasion.
This is a total waste of time effort…
This is a total waste of time effort and energy. Three months and still being asked the same questions. The hospital that treated me said that UK travel insurance always refuse to pay for treatment. Cannot phone them. Having had to borrow the cost of treatment and the interest I am paying the claim is still about one thousand five hundred pounds out of pocket! Next time.e I will just take cash with me for any treatment
Absolute scam
Absolute scam! I took out the room cancellation for my holiday in Cornwall. I fell pregnant a few months later with my due date being the week I was meant to go. I live a 6 hour drive from Cornwall so obviously I can’t go. They are refusing to give me my money back even though I have provided a doctors note (at £35) to say that I’m a high risk pregnancy and need to be monitored from 32 weeks and there is a huge chance I could give birth during that week or before meaning. The doctors note says that it’s not safe for me to travel and the insurance are having none of it. I have said how on earth is physically giving birth not a medical condition to not be able to go on holiday and they can’t give me and answer. So hard to get hold of. Absolute waste of money. The holiday itself is only £742 so not a lot to them but could make a massive difference to our growing family… AWFUL
Terrible Service - Avoid
Still attempting to hear about my claim from 7 months ago. I am getting no response despite numerous emails. Terrible service and extremely unprofessional.
Do not use Yellow Jersey as they use CSAL who are useless
Yellow Jersey offload their claims to CSAL. Who appear to have set up their entire operation to prevent anyone making a valid claim.
They never answer their phone. Emails are almost as bad. And they never "remember' the last conversation you had with them. They also ask for ridiculous information to certify your claim: eg - we don't except Ryanair's web statement that they don't offer any refunds, instead demanding I had an individual response saying they would not refund my ticket.
It took me around 15 hours and 3 elapsed months before my claim was finally resolved. Yellow Jersey did get involved and eventually CSAL grudgingly paid out for my pre-trip injury that was absolutely covered in the policy I'd taken out.
I'd never use YJ again as clearly they are just a marketing front for a terrible claims handling company who through a combination of awful technology and a total lack of customer services attempt to make you give up on your claim.
Delays, excuses and incompetence
Claimed for sickness on a cruise - started process whilst still on board to try to expedite payment. CSA prevaricated, asked me for the same documents again and again despite all being sent at the beginning with detailed explanations of what had been incurred and why. Split the claim into 2 even though everyone else considered it one claim. Repeatedly told me they were waiting for information from the World travel people, even though they said they had provided everything, and had not been asked for anything else. Eventually sorted after 12 weeks and a formal complaint.
An quick August break to St Andrews…
I booked a quick break to St Andrews with Booking.com and a St Andrews Holiday Rental agency. My daughter was diagnosed with cancer the same day that we should have been going, and so I tried to cancel the booking THAT I HAD INSURED AGAINST HAVING TO CANCEL. The company refused to agree to my cancellation and I began a claim with the insurace company. I have this morning received a response, from an August Claim, and having written the response, I receive from my mail box that the email "has been deleted without being read" to no fewer than 13 emails this morning. There is no obvious telephone number either. What an appalling waste of money. You might as well not insure the cancellation of a holiday if this is the response that you are going to get.
Worst customer service ever
Like some other people have said would give zero if i could , my son was ill on holiday , I made a claim in february, i gave them my bank details . They sent a payment in april but THEY MADE THE ERROR of putting my sons name instead of my name. i have been chasing this for 6 months. My bank have told me the payment was rejected and sent me proof that the payment was rejected . Still havent received anything and still wasting my time chasing them !
I would have given 0 stars if possible
I would have given 0 stars if possible. DO NOT BELIEVE THE OVER POSITIVE GLOWING REVIEWS. My only guess is these people have never made a claim. Having just had a serious spinal injury mountain biking I would never use this service again. Fact my total costs came to less than 1K. The payout I received was about £50 more than my insurance cost and excess. Yep you got that right. Thank God I had no serious hospital bills.
Do your research, YELLOW JERSEY DO NOT HANDLE CLAIMS. They use an underwriter named Gallagher Bassett. Gallagher Bassett then use a smaller company they own company called Claims Settlement Agencies Ltd. Does it all sound a little murky. Yep that's right. Expect stalling to get an answer, weeks of no communication, lots of paperwork to file and a call line that never gets answered. Check out the feedback
That's the company you'll be dealing with. Like everything else falling apart in the UK this is just another service that'll come up short and never deliver. Save your hard earned money and look elsewhere
Hopeless lack of communication with me
Hopeless lack of communication with me. They don’t bee pick up the phone even though I was told I was ‘number one’ in the queue. Still awaiting any comms from them at all over a months after claim submitted.
Shambles of a company
I was unwell on the last night of my cruise, so got taken to the ship’s medical centre. They were very good and the next day when we docked I was taken to Southampton General hospital. I was in hospital for 8 days and diagnosed with AF and heart failure. I have had no previous heart problems. The cruise ship also diagnosed AF and billed me £2280. I put a claim into Avanti on 6th May through the CSA portal. Not easy at all. They were very slow to deal with my claim and kept wanting more evidence sent by emails. They kept sending anonymous emails of acknowledgement. Eventually Each time a different person responded. Eventually they asked for a medical certificate from my GP. I had to pay my GP £55 for this! Sent this to CSA on 25th July by post. No acknowledgement that it had arrived, though Avanti promise that they would acknowledge receipt in 24 hours. Finally found a telephone number to ring and spoke to someone on 7th August who said medical certificate has arrived and I would get a telephone call from someone by 14th August. Heard nothing. Rang again and was told will get a call by 20th August. Did get an email on 20th now asking for booking invoice of cruise. Sent evidence by email, some of which I had sent many weeks previously! No acknowledgement that they received it. Rang again next day. Yes they had evidence and were passing to the claim handlers. I asked when I would hear about my claim. They said up to 15 working days, ie 3 more weeks. Avanti website says 5 days, but not true! This company are a shambles. I will wait to hear the outcome. If there is any more delay or denial, then I will raise this with the Ombudsman.
Just to update this review. I have now waited 15 working days, and surprise surprise I have not heard anything from Avanti! Rang them today and they say they will escalate my claim, whatever that means. Am told they will contact me in 2 days. I have told them if there is no progress, then I will escalate to the Ombudsman!
Absolutely awful. Really, really bad.
Inefficient, slow, determined to resist and obfuscate any claim. Refused to pay my simple and straightforward claim by manipulating the wording of the policy cover - In their opinion only: I suffered the wrong sort of unavoidable travel delay and the wrong sort of unavoidable cancellation. All in all, a worthless and mis-sold insurance policy made worse by fighting what appears to be a deliberately incompetent and malignant claims administration. Appallingly bad. Consumers need protection from this sort of cowboy outfit.
Claimed expenses received 2 weeks after final submission
CSA/GB.UK paid out majority of items that I claimed for a trip curtailment due to sudden illness and death of an immediate family member
Payment was received into bank account 2 weeks after my final supporting documents were provided to them
They are experts in delay They need…
They are experts in delay They need reporting to trading standards Their claims handlers are advised not to answer calls which is left to incompetent colleagues They work for many insurance companies as third parties including Go Walkabout I advise you check which underwriter the insurance company uses and stay away from these
Uncaring company
I submitted a claim as my partner was diagnosed with cancer and was unable to travel. This company you don't speak to the same person twice, they didn't issue me with a claim number until the 4th call of asking what's happening. Just had an email asking for medical certificate that was emailed through on 10th June and was confirmed as received at the time of emailing. This company clearly doesn't care about the stress it causes people when already dealing with a stressful situation.
The problem is when you buy insurance…
The problem is when you buy insurance you don't generally know who will be dealing with your claim. If you find out it's this company, then avoid. Very slow to deal with claims and when you think it's been processed they tell you it have to be go through for final checks. That was 10 days ago. Chased it up and was informed that the "final checks" were completed by an internal department that you cannot contact and you just have to wait for them to contact you!
Being totally ignored
Being totally ignored and after chasing weekly for updates I now get zero response.
On the previous occasions when I did get a response it was always repeating the same update that my claim was under final review. We won't be renewing with these clowns again.
Avoid straight forward claim, if this was a medical claim good luck
A very staright forward claim on a cruise and missing a port. Documentation from the ship submitted about the 16th May. Got a call saying claim was going through and now 20th June and nothing . I called them and got the " sorry all I can do is email the department, they are in a different department so I cannot help" But you are the customer services . Patronising voice and attitude. AVOID. How P and O can recomment them I dont know
Payed out for cancellation of hotel…
