Poor customer service
This company provide travel insurance, which is not worth the paper it’s written on.
Flught wss cancelled by airline, with new flight number & this fraudulent conpany is saying it only amounts to a delay.
Absolute joke
Don’t use it when you book with loveholiday.com
My bad that I didn’t check the review before. Terrible!! I paid the insurance booking a package with Loveholiday.com. They cannot process my claim as I have to contact loveholiday.com. Completely useless.
Can't use a death certificate need to pay gp to fill in claim form
My mum paid the for cancellation insurance as booking.com was a non refundable room. She cancelled with 2 weeks notice( a room in Wales) and then suddenly passed away. We sent off her death certificate and filled in the 9 page claim form. For them to email back needing a GP to fill in the medical form (said gp who diagnosed her with constipation and not advanced cancer!) and also asked for all the booking and cancellation information again. Insurance is a waste of time and money with this company!
After monthe of trying to recieve…
After monthe of trying to recieve compensation. Im nearly there, hopefully this week. The more you write teviews here the more likely you will get some joy. Teview away people. Ive has refunds from very shady trading companies amongst others.
Awful, awful, awful
Bought travel insurance through Virgin Money, and they use these folks as claims "service". Possibly the worst designed web site ever. Every click causes a cookie prompt. There's no way of downloading a copy of a claim form - you have to view online. Once you've answered a question there is no way to correct or adjust it. No feedback is given when you upload a document regarding receipt, so you end up uploading things many times, just in case. They send you a security code by email as part of the login process, and these trigger virus alerts and get put in spam. Bluntly, this has been designed by amateurs.Either that or (more likley) it is deliberate in order to discourage, deny or delay legitimate claims.
Awful service.
Awful service.
So slow at responding and frequently have to push them to process the claim or it will just be left.
Spend more getting an insurance company with better claims service as it is worth every penny to avoid getting to deal with them.
Awful company and customer service.
Took out Cruise cover through holiday extras. I believe my cover was with Great Lakes Insurance/Bassett & Gallagher. CSAL handled my claim for missed port on my cruise. I had an email from them saying that my claim was successful and that £800 would be credited to my account 'shortly'. I never did get this money as the ship made an alternative stop elsewhere. They have now apologised for recieving this email in error but that's all. Do not book insurance through Holiday Extras or with Great Lakes or Bassett & Gallagher.
Refund of medical bills
Had an emergency appendectomy whilst on holiday in Turkey. Submitted my medical expenses claim and received payment 3 weeks later. Was worried after reading the terrible reviews however I could not fault the service I received.
Holiday cancellation
After reading other reviews before making a claim I was very worried about receiving a payout.
Couldn't have been easier. There was a delay of 5 weeks which was at my end waiting for a GP to complete the medical claim form. Other than that the staff I spoke to were very courteous and polite. Full payment received within 3 weeks of submitting the claim. Can't fault them.
Medical certificate Stamping
My claim for holiday cancellation due to unforeseen medical reasons. The was processed fairly quickly. My only criticism is having forward my completed claim including a completed signed medical certificate yet was asked to have the medical certificate stamped by my GP surgery. There is no section on the medical certificate for a stamp nor any instruction for the certificate stating it must be stamped (my surgery questioned why it needed a stamp as nothing on the certificate instructs them to stamp it). I would suggest the certificate be modified to include this. This will ensure the certificate is stamped and avoid unnecessary delays in processing. Apart for this everything else was straightforward.
A specific problem indicates a broader problem
It may be helpful to others if they read the content of my letter to CSA LTD
'It is clear that the withholding of £399.80 from my claim is unjustified by
a) the facts and
b) the policy wording
THE FACTS
From the correspondence that I have already provided you with you can see that cancellation of the holiday was deemed necessary on 18 June , confirmed by medical inspection on 20 June and notified to the travel company on 21 June. I have already explained that this can be verified by contacting the Practice Manager.
The date entry on the medical certificate was clearly a clerical error which the attached copy letter from Doctor Shah dated 17 September states, confirming what we already knew.
THE POLICY WORDING
There is nothing in the wording of the 34-page policy to justify withholding 10% of the holiday cost. I can find no reference in the policy to the table of deductions that you have reproduced and you have made no effort to provide any link to it.
Having now read the opinion of the British public about CSA Ltd on Trust Pilot it seems clear to me that you will continue to obfuscate so I need you to formally reject my claim with a final response letter in order that I may then take the matter up with the Insurance Ombudsman. I am sure that you can oblige me with this final response within one week.
It saddens me that the public are forced to resort to using a third party to recover what is rightfully theirs. It wastes the time of the insurance company ,the Ombudsman and myself, but most importantly, the NHS medical staff who have more important things to do. At least the Ombudsman has the power to award compensation where appropriate.
What is not obvious to me is who benefits from this 10% deduction. Is it the insurance company or is it in fact yourselves? Is this really a hidden commission? Everything is opaque.
By bringing a claim it may at least draw attention to the abuse of insurance. Insurance used to be a matter of uberrimae fidei but is fast becoming a national scandal. The signing of Acceptance Forms appears to have been abandoned and there is no attempt to even ’ cut a quick deal’. The experiences of the people that are outlined on Trust Pilot will lead to an abandonment of insurance, except in situations where it happens to be a legal necessity.'
I would only add that faced with the prospect of having to produce a non-existent table CSA decided to pay me the remaining 10% and as far as I am concerned the matter is closed. The moral is that with any insurance broker you must check who deals with claims before agreeing to a new policy.
Jusy delay the process until you give up or they can find a reason to reject
Would give -1 if possible. They have been appointed to "handle", sorry should have said DELAY and REJECT my claim from Avanti Travel Insurance.
After a total of 9 weeks of back and forth and repeating myself, sending in multiple sets of documents, paying £35.00 for a Doctor to complete a Cancellation Form that was then subsequently not required; I have now been told, my claim is not covered because its a Business Trip, please refer to Page 46 of the Policy Conditions, Point 13?
I am not only having to deal with the enormous stress of the aftermath of a Stroke and the potential of losing my job, I am now faced with the prospect of losing £1200.00 for flights I was unable to take, that should be covered by my Insurance.
I feel strongly that CSA is set up and designed for the sole purpose of delaying the administration of claims to see if people give up. If they don't give up then they are bonused with rejecting as many claims as possible.
Why on earth if I call can I not speak to the person handling my claim? I am told I cannot be put through, I have to request a call back that never happens. Then I receive another email from a different handler who has not read through all the emails and attachments and I have to explain the situation all over again. My claim type has changed 4 times during this 9 week period and each time further information is requested and of course I have obliged.
SCAM!!!!
SCAM!!!!! DO NOT USE. This company goes out of its way to sell insurance knowing they have covered every trick in the book never to pay out. We used them via Virgin holiday insurance (disgusted they use them). Had our money and jewelry stolen and only covered if locked inside a safe. You couldn’t write it. They are a disgusting company hiding behind brands to take money for nothing. Embarrassing, shameful cowboys.
Used InsureandGo for my annual travel…
Used InsureandGo for my annual travel insurance renewal as the quote was excellent and covered everything that I needed.
However…..,
Had an accident and needed to make some rather minor claims. Contacting InsureandGo was excellent and they were first rate.
But……,
The claims company they use, CSA Travel Insurance Claims, have used every trick in the book, fill this in, send this form etc. time after time. Used the excess for every claim not the single incident. In the end I have given up claiming as it really isn’t worth the hassle.
Well done CSA, will not renew with InsureandGo as I have no faith in the claims procedure.
Simply Appalling
I took out travel insurance with Avanti who sadly use CSA to handle claims. I had to cancel a holiday about a week before being due to travel owing to emergency treatment for kidney stones. I can’t possibly record every detail here but suffice to say I produced every document possible at the start of the claim. Consultants letters, proof of purchase for flights and accommodation etc. It was a black and white case which should have been reviewed and concluded within a week. CSA tried everything to wriggle out of payment and as I addressed each argument they put forward, another week would go by and then they would come up with a new demand or dubious request. After approximately six weeks of wasting my time and stringing me along they finally paid up on the 14th October 24. They did not tell me they were settling, I found out because I phoned them today the 15th October. You might think I should be cart wheeling around the room at that news and yes I’m glad I passed their endurance test but I should never have been subjected to the stress and dubious methods they employ to avoid payment. To give an example their last request required me to get my accommodation vendor to confirm his terms and conditions for cancellation. What company does not expect full payment a week before arrival date? They quizzed me on “ why did I pay the vendor”!! This company is contracted by companies like Avanti to do the dirty work Avanti does not want to do. Their success hinges on how many claims they reject or how many people they can wear down so they give up the fight. I will now check with insurance companies to see if they use CSA before I enter into any contract. CSA are truly awful to deal with, communication is made very difficult. They don’t want to speak to you and would rather you did everything on line so they can fob you off and delay easier. However the real culprit here is Avanti for using this terrible tactic of employing a “ barrier” company. You only have to look at the negative reviews on this site to clearly see that many so called respectable companies have risked their reputation by using CSA to do their dirty work. I have tempered this review but if I had the time to express the full story and my true feelings about Avanti and CSA you would all be simply appalled by my experience. My advice if you are caught in a claim situation involving CSA is simple, don’t let them wear you down, keep a diary of events and phone calls and copies of every piece of information. If need be go to the ombudsman but also be prepared to go legal, I was on the cusp of doing so and I told them that. Thankfully they believed me and paid up. There must be thousands of people out there who have been cheated out of their claims by one tactic or another by CSA and their paymasters Avanti. I should really pursue them for compensation for all the stress they have caused me but that might suggest I thought they were an approachable decent company. I really hope this review helps many to avoid an experience like mine. Simply appalling is my overall verdict.
Scam of a company - don’t use
I was diagnosed with breast cancer and unable to travel. My claim was - at first - rejected because it was told that I hadn’t informed them as soon as “reasonably possible” about my cancer. I went back & appealed the claim as I had called them and let them know I had cancer. They have since re-rejected my claim because apparently the number I called to tell them I had cancer was not the correct number? The number I called was the claims number?! Absolute scam of a company - do not use.
I bought Travel Insurance from Holiday Extras
I bought Travel Insurance from Holiday Extra's they use CSAL as their claims management company. I fell over just before travelling and was taken to Hospital with a bleed on the brain from the fall. Easy jet were fantastic and refunded my flight. But dealing with CSAL to recover the hotel cost is proving a total nightmare
Trying to put you off claiming....!
We bought insurance through Insure and Go but they use CSA for the claims process which is unnecessarily long and over complicated. My husband's baggage was delayed on our way back from a Greek Island to Athens where we were staying for 4 days before flying back to the UK and took 3 days to arrive - just in time for our journey home. He had to buy clothes, toiletries etc to see him through. He completed the claim form and provided all receipts and flight details from the island to Athens. He then received an email asking for proof of purchase again, proof of flights to and from UK, proof of accommodation whilst on the island and in Athens! Why on earth this information is required I do not know...all for a maximum of £200 claim! My only thoughts are that they make it so onerous that you give up and don't claim! We are still waiting for this to be concluded and who knows what else they will require!
Beware! This organisation is not fit for purpose.
In December 2023 my wife broke her ankle whilst on holiday in the US. Fortunately we took out a very expensive premium with Avanti Travel Insurance, otherwise we would have been presented with a $100k medical bill. Like most travel insurers in the UK Avanti use CSA to manage their claims. However nearly 10 months later, part of the medical bill is still unpaid. As guarantor I am now being chased by an international credit agency for default payment. CSA seem totally uninterested in sorting this issue out, and are happy to keep blaming their agents in North America for the delay. And Avanti having taken my premium (£707), are nowhere to be seen. The Financial Ombudsman Service should be all over the travel insurance companies in the UK that use CSA to manage their claims. Totally not fit for purpose.
100% successful claim on Travel Cancellation
There were a few hoops to jump through, but I have to say these guys are legit. We got paid around a month after making a claim. I was not able to travel based on medical reasons, and I got back payment. Not all, but Im certainly happy with the amount.
Most reviews on here are bad, but I am not sure why as I 100% made a successful claim with this company. This is not to dispute that others may have had a bad experience, but I had to offset the other reviews given that they were excellent to me.
No problems with me and thank you to Love Holidays.
