Childish Words Don't Build a Robust Vocabulary
The program is immersive, but their choice of words doesn't seem to set one up for success when speaking outside of the program. For instance, Dinolingo has the child learn the word for bird, as equivalent to using the word birdie. While adults speak to children this way, it's not how education systems teach native speakers in their institutions. Being that this is an educational program I would have expected a more academic choice of words.

The app fails to load from time to time…
The app fails to load from time to time and you need to delete it and reinstall it which is super annoying. They also stopped with the videos and songs after only a few lessons. The kids really enjoyed them and I was able to keep them focused longer when they mixed in videos. The coins have no value or purpose so the kids see how much coins they have but cannot use them to buy stickers or anything kids like. The dinos page sometimes doesn't load the dinos or is super slow because it cannot handle all the moving GIFs of the dinosaurs. Needs a lot of improvement.

Way better than Duolingo!
My family had been using Duolingo, but it just was so frustrating for our 8 year old trying to do the lessons and getting little things wrong. We searched for a more kid-friendly language app and found Dinolingo. In just the first few minutes of doing Dinolingo, she was engaged and having fun learning a new language! We had just signed up for a free trial and we loved it so we will be sticking with Dinolingo.

Dinolingo makes it fun for my kids to…
Dinolingo makes it fun for my kids to learn a language. It’s good that recently more concepts and vocabularies were added. Also, it is helpful that there are videos with the language itself being used and the kids say after the words introduced.
One thing to improve on however is the quality of the videos. Some graphics and arts are outdated my kids sometimes find the images scary or weird.
Overall, it is a good app that is reasonably priced.

Not impressed. Going to cancel
Every time I open the website I get a notification that there are some minor errors that will be rectified in the next few weeks. I have seen this come up over the last 6 months. There are often glitches where the screen freezes and I can't hear any volume. Not enough focus on conversational language.

This is a great tool
This is a great tool. My son is learning a new language in a fun and non-boring way. Songs animations cartoon characters make it relatable for kids. The lessons are not too long which helps with a 9 year old. We are so far %20 progressed and we are hoping to complete the whole course.

It needs work
It needs work, the app is primarily videos. It could use more engaging games for kids. We ended up downloading a different app and my kids are hungry to continue on it. We were hoping the duolingo would look more like the duoling ABC - use that format! Its great!

Thank you for your review! At Dinolingo, we strive to offer a language learning program that is suitable for children of all ages and learning levels, not age specific as you mentioned. Our program is designed to start with basic vocabulary such as animals (cat, dog, bird, fish) and gradually progresses to more complex phrases, sentences, and even paragraphs. We provide a range of difficulty levels and interactive activities to accommodate each child's individual learning needs.
My kids ARE learning, but it could be better
I love that there's an app so we can learn on the go, and my kids love the dino theme and collecting dinos for passing tests. I like that there's a way to toggle off the music, which I find distracting and overstimulating.
My complaints are these:
1) I wish there was more of a serial storyline to the unit videos. The first video seemed like it was previewing stories the kids would see, but so far the rest of the videos we've seen (15 of 93) have each been a series of flashed images with vocabulary words, often accompanied with silly noises and repetitive music. I find them kind of grating, but they are effective and my kids can't get enough.
2) My kids are racking up a TON of new vocabulary, but it's almost entirely nouns, even 15 lessons in. If I were designing this program, I would aim to see them able to talk a little about what they want or what they're doing before, for example, teaching how to say "deer" in Spanish.
3) The person they have voice the Spanish words is lovely. She has clear diction and great pronunciation, but also sounds young enough to be one of my kids' peers, which I think they find appealing. So I wish they had either had her re-record a small number of phrases that sound cobbled together (for example, "jugo de zanahoria") from other recordings, or just left those phrases out. Since they are learning largely by listening, I think natural sounding audio is of the utmost importance.

The best program for beginnings for Slovak
This is one of the very few programs for kids that teaches Slovak. It is great if you are looking to learn a language that isn't as popular to learn like Slovak.
It is very well done with videos, read aloud books, lessons, games, and assessments. I love the old version but the new version is way better. There are supplemental material that you can print off as well which, as an educator, I appreciate.
My only suggestions would be to have the option for live teachers to practice pronunciation. They do this in China for students learning English. Also, I would like to see a more advantage level for students who complete the program. This is great for beginnings but I would like to see sentence structures and everyday dialog added.
I really seeing this program growing over the next few years.
