Just in time delivery
I ordered an inset fireplace for delivery to my Dad's house.
Initial indications were for a 2-3 day delivery. When this didn't happen I prompted yourselves.
I received a call from my Dad as I was driving to his house to say the fireplace was just delivered 9days after ordering.

The service was excellent
The service was excellent, two lovely men who came on time and fitted two fires quickly and efficiently and showed me how to operate them. I cannot comment yet on the efficiency of the fires because the property is still being renovated but they certainly look good. Thanks to all staff concerned. I would certainly recommend direct fireplaces.

Victoria was very helpful
Victoria was very helpful. When the stone fireplace arrived 2 pieces were noticeably discoloured and she acknowledged this and said she would help to resolve the situation. After 48hours and a wipe down of the stone the colour was fine, but the fact that Direct Fireplaces, and Victoria in particular would resolve my complaint means this is a 5 star company.

Being able to speak to the team to…
Being able to speak to the team to obtain all information required to initially order the gas fire then when it was established that it was the wrong size we needed a slimline the changeover process was explained and done with exceptional courtesy and help which took out the stress of the situation. A query on a part that wasn't acceptable was also resolved quickly.

Producr not yet received. Delays encountered
This is not about the product as it is nit yet received. The issues i have encountered are relating to the delivery. As i wanted the fireplace within 2 weeks i checked with customer service and waa told 3/7 days. That was on 31st July. When i chased up delivery i was told 2/3 weeks and the member of staff made an error. When i followed up again to check the delivery date i was told the supplier was on a summer break and so it will be another few weeks. If it is delivered it will be around the second week of September whixh will mean 6 weeks instead of 3/7 days i was expecting. I understand some things are out of a business control but to be told 3/7 days and it be 6 weeks seems like a lack of understanding of staff and suppliers.

We're terribly sorry for any confusion regarding this fireplace, and for any inconvenience regarding the delay.
As our dispatch team have explained, the fireplace that you purchased is made to order from Portuguese limestone. At the time of ordering, we were advising of a lead time approx. 2-3 weeks from delivery and can only suggest miscommunication on the part of a member of our team in the event that a shorter lead time was anticipated.
There are any number of factors that can affect manufacturing and shipping schedules, most of which are unfortunately outside of our control. We can see that our team contacted you to discuss possible alternatives available sooner when the lead time was extended to 6 weeks, and can only apologise if we were unable to find an alternative to your liking.

Protracted returns process
The fireplace was really not what we expected, much cheaper looking and unfortunately did not sit flush with our walk. The returns policy stated a ‘no quibble 14 day money back guarantee’ but it was a real chew on for us which resulted in us driving the fireplace back to the manufacturer over an hour away to avoid £140 collection fee. Be sure it’s what you want!

The range from which you purchased is designed as a more budget collection of MDF freestanding fireplaces. While we often receive very good feedback regarding these considering their prices, we're sure that you can appreciate that they are still made to a price point.
As per the returns policy on our website, we do offer a 14-day returns period but charge for collections arranged by ourselves. In order to keep our prices as competitive as possible, we provide free mainland UK delivery across our range despite being charged by our delivery partner for shipping. Unfortunately, this does mean that we are unable to offer free collections in instances where customers have a change of heart. As you mention, customers are most welcome to arrange their own returns in-store or via courier where this might be more economical.
