If you could give no stars I would. The simple task of trrying to cancel a booking is impossible. It would be easier to cure world hunger than get some from this company on the phone to help.

Never book with Expedia

Never book with Expedia, if you have to cancel or rearrange your flight - you may as well give up and accept that Expedia will just take your money! Terrible company to deal with. My pregnant wife and I were unable to fly on our booked flights because of the Zika virus at our destination that Expedia did not advertise. We were told that we would receive a Virgin Australia flight credit for $2,000 (cost of our flights) and that we had to book by 02 July 2017. After multiple conversations on the phone with Expedia and following all Expedia advice to the ‘t’, in terms of ‘look at the flights on our website and let us know which flight you would like to book, as long as you book before 2nd July 2017, that is fine.’ we were told we were unable to use the credit and essentially we had paid $2000 for nothing. Following all Expedia advice, we called before the 02 July, on 01 July, to book the flights required, however, after 3 hours + on the phone to Expedia reps, all of a sudden a new barrier was put up that we could not book on a weekend (even though it is a 24/7 website 🤔 and we had never been told this before in our 4+ conversations with Expedia). At this point Expedia told us they were unable to book our flights, even though we had followed all the advice and it is was still before the 2nd July! Expedia said they would call back on the Monday after speaking to the relevant people. This did not happen. I called Expedia back and ever since I keep getting the same response ‘You did not book by the 2nd July, hence it is not our problem and you cannot use the flight credit or get a refund’. A supervisor will not even call me back and all the people you talk to are just reading a script and can't make any decisions and are a waste of my time. The irony is Expedia’s customer care slogan is ‘we care’ – obviously not! Never use Expedia - other companies will price match and you will get a 100% better customer service.

Dishonest Quoting

I booked return flights from Sydney to Hobart on 22 August 2017. The original quote I was given was $1,474.23. When I proceeded to pay for the tickets, it would not accept my booking and asked me to try again a moment later. I tried numerous times before being told tickets have increased in price, then it increased in price again ( to $1600). This was within a space of 10 minutes. I performed another check for a quote on 23 August 2017 where the quote was again $1,474.23. I contacted Expedia to find out why this was and they informed me there was nothing they could do and could not price match. They could not price match their own site!!!

Extremely disappointed

It took me over 6 weeks to get an answer from them about changing the date + adding side trip for a flight I booked with them, 1 per week with every single call being promised that they will get back to me within 24 -48 hours. Never once receive a call back. I had to ring them every week to follow up.
Once ticket was successfully changed and I agreed to pay the fare difference+ change fees, I thought the nightmare is over but it's not! They have charged me twice on my credit card for the fare difference and change fees.

Now I'm up to the third calls to chase back my money! Of course 1 of the call promised to get back to me within 24 hours, his name is Kunal. The second person name Shalow promised I will receive an email confirming a refund within 24 hours and refund will be issued within 5 - 7 days. No call - No email - No refund, nothing!!

I'm typing this email as I'm having my third attempt with Lakshmi, she told me to stay on the line for 2 minutes. Just like every time it's always take much longer.

I really hope this is the last call I have to make because I'm not looking forward to spend 30 mins on useless call every week. They shouldn't be able to take the payment twice from my credit card when I didn't agree on it.

Don't use their service unless you have a lot of time to spare calling them.

P.S during my numerous attempts to change my ticket, they always begin with quoting me the fess+ fare difference. Most of the representative quoted about $135 - $140 for two tickets to be changed, but there was 1 lady quoted me $9XX, I asked her repeatedly if she was sure and she told me that "the price changes all the time". I hung up and call again within half and hour, and this time was quoted $135.
I'm pretty sure that lady made a mistake so their staff doesn't even know what they are doing!!

Never ever use Expedia.com unless you …

Never ever use Expedia.com unless you have time for 9 phonecalls arguing with Indians. My trip is now fully booked, only after I told them to cancel it. I originally booked a package deal they had all the funds $3076 holding from my bank, my trip was confirmed. Then 4 days later they put $2000 back in my account and my airline tickets disappeared from my itinerary except for one connecting flight on the tail end of my trip. Eventually they blamed my bank and tried to tell me my bank declined the transaction which is a bold faced lie. On my 8th phone call the woman said in a condescending tone "if you want me to cancel your trip I will do it right now " I also asked her to cancel the hotel because I didn't want to book any thing with Expedia.com at this point. She said she would cancel the airline booking and email the hotel to see if that could be canceled. the very next day they took the $2000 back out of my account and sent me the tickets for Thailand. Exactly the opposite of what she offered and we agreed on. I looked up complaints on Expedia.com and most of them were regarding never getting back promised refunds. So now that they have all of my money I am forced to give them my business unless I want to risk unlimited phone calls, emails, and possibly never receiving a refund. By far the worst and most frustrating customer service I have ever experienced.

Warning - Do not use Expedia

First I tried to book my package holiday and their website said 4 tickets available on the flight and the accommodation had 6 rooms left. Proceed to booking and total invoice was $4500, click finalize and prompted with a cannot proceed message. Contact Expedia directly and after an hour on the phone they explain that the flight is booked out as their website doesn't update immediately (not my fault but now my problem) but if I pay another $211 they will get me the seats.... Bill now goes to $4711....Customer service was non existent and finally after nearly 1.5 hours on the phone I get confirmation all is finalized but had to book immediately as i was warned it prices would go up by hundreds of dollars in the next hour if I didn't commit to the extra charges. Receive my itinerary and click on the hotel link and funny enough i can get the same hotel, room etc for $120 less than what I just paid..... 40 mins later and after sending a number of screen shots through to Expedia I receive a price match and a $50 credit (cant use for this booking though)... I then go to book another hotel and guess what - cant use the credit as it doesn't meet the terms and conditions (which you cannot find on the website).... Call Expedia and was on the phone for another 40 mins trying to get a clear answer as to why I could not use my promotional voucher which could not be answered…. The agent then charged my credit card the full amount without my authorization then advised that I would receive a $56 reimbursement. This is not acceptable as I did not provide authority to make this charge at the full rate and what happens if my credit card did not have the available funds? Would Expedia pay my credit card overcharge fee? Never again will I use this service. For the sake of paying a few dollars more I will use a face to face travel agent for all bookings or source another online provider that is simple and easy to deal with. Holidays are supposed to be enjoyable but this has already ruined my experience and I have no confidence that these bookings including flights will be confirmed as per my specific requests as all transactions with Expedia were conducted over the phone via a poor phone connection with a so called customer service agent that did not have a clear understanding of my requests…. Never again will I use or recommend Expedia. The biggest mistake I made was not looking at previous customer reviews online before using this service – I now understand why there is a 1 out of 5 overall customer experience rating.

Two extra charges "mistakes"

I booked a hotel. It was confirmed. While looking at my credit card statement online I noticed 3 pending transactions from Expedia. My hotel charge plus 2 lots of $1 charges. I phoned them and they said the $1 x 2 charges were system errors. They added Amex also overcharging at times. My cheaters are being reversed. It maybe an innocent mistake but if not beware to check statements. $2 from everyone who books is profit.

Don't book through Expedia

Don't book through Expedia, they sold me a ticket from Sydney to Rome a sector of which was never confirmed, when I questioned them before leaving they said, just go it will be fine. Now I have no way of getting home as the flight they sold me is full, have to book other flights from Rome to Sydney at a premium price and Expedia despite their fraudulent communication with me are refusing to provide a refund. Unbelievable.

BAD/ TERRIBLE.

BAD/ TERRIBLE.
This was a reputable site. But like every other one, it has made it's money -->now deceiving and cheating behaviour is all that you can expect. Their booking system is a total shame. It is confusing, evasive and deceiving. They will "lure you by saying something, once you book it, the itinerary will include some CRAP like united airline booking whilst you are booking on good faith that it was QANTAS booking. It will say something like "QANTAS managed booking". Their CUSTOMER SERVICE is evasive, at times untruthful, misguiding, passive aggressive (looks like trained to be) and at times frankly rude. EXPEDIA is like "tooth paste" once money is out you can't get it back. MONEY IS GONE! They will not refund NO MATTER WHAT".

If you do not want to be fooled, AVOID THEM. After their recent deceptive act causing me more that $1700 loss, I am feeling that, I should warn my contacts/Friends/Colleagues to avoid this "Lost Case". Out of 500 at least 50 uses them. Hopefully no more in future. Expedia will go the way it's friend united airlines is going.

Bad car rental service

I will never use scotties ever again. booked through Expedia
This is not the customer service and reliable company that you should get in NZ. I use expedia to book the car who deal with scotties. (nu rental car)

-Almost an hr for pick up
-had to sit on the floor of pick up van
-rude rude staff
-over price exchange rate that they would have made money on
-As soon as I stepped foot into there "office" and saw the run down cars, I got the extra insurance.
-empty petrol, the staff were joking about me not even making it to the petrol station.
-Don't answer phone lines when you have a problem

Guys stay well away from this place. They will ruin your trip. There is no place in NZ for companies like this.

******** PS. I just got my credit card statement back. My quote was for $636.69 AUD plus $150 nzd extra insurance. (exchange rate for the day was 1.07) My actual credit card cost was $931.54 AUD. *********

bad rude terrible service

they take no responsibility and always blame the airlines. they are required by law to issue refunds in Australia if they don't provide the service (flight or hotel) paid for. they will lie to you and deny this.
they make it extremely difficult to register a complaint in writing, they force you to call, so there is no written record.
the phone operators lack any knowledge and aren't empowered to solve the problem only pass it on to someone else. they can be rude and dishonest and were to me.
good luck if you can't find another agent.

Terrible

Customer service was terrible.
Communication was terrible.
Product knowledge was terrible.

So many bad experiences.
Once booked two flights with them, had a confirmation message from them saying had booked two. But only one flight was actually booked with the airline.
Spent over two hours on hold trying to sort it out. Nothing fixed. Promised fifty dollar voucher in recompense, never came.

Disappointed is an understatment

Totally dissapointed with the lack of communication or help from expedia.com.au!! We had a immediate family member pass away and we (2 people) rung to change our flight dates asap and got no help what so ever!!! Such a disappointment. Never use an airline agent like expedia because they dont help you at all. If I had booked my flights through the airline myself I would get a full refund on my pre booked flights because of the death but instead expedia wont help (they are the ones that get the refund from AirNZ) and because they wont me and my aunty have paid 1500$ as we lost pur March flights because we can go overseas twice. $1500 to visit NZ for 11 days!!!! Such a scam! You shouldn't ever book with Expedia because as I have learnt when you have an emergency they just refuse to help you!!
So dissapointed!

Deceptive pricing of car hire in the UK

I booked a hire car in the UK through Expedia.com.au. when I arrived in the UK the price I was quoted excluded any insurance and the car hire company would not rent the car to me at the price quoted by Expedia.com.au. I had to pay more than double the price quoted by Expedia.com.au, to hire the car.

Corrupt business who falsely advertises free cancellation, then states the booking is non-refundable

I have recently had an incredibly stressful experience trying to cancel a booking through Expedia.com.au. which stated free cancellation by April 22nd.On the afternoon of 6th March, I booked the Hotel St Marie in New Orleans through Expedia website (Itinerary No 178 758 358 69). Other booking sites , (ie. Hotels.com & Venere), had the same room at the hotel for a lower price of $1131AU, but I decided to pay $65 extra on Expedia, because I always book accommodation which has free cancellation and the Expedia booking page stated "free cancellation by April 22nd" for the Hotel St Marie for the nights I was after, April 25th-April 29th.
During the process of booking my accommodation at the Hotel St Marie, on Expedia.com.au, I re-checked several times & reviewed the booking page to ensure that free cancellation was available. Highlighted in 2 places on the Expedia booking page, the site stated "free cancellation by April 22nd."
The following morning, (approximately 17 hours after booking Hotel St Marie), I decided to look for cheaper accommodation in New Orleans. I found another hotel on Expedia’s website, the Prince Conti Hotel, which Expedia also stated had free cancellation until April 22nd. As it was cheaper, $973.57 AU, I decide to book accommodation at Prince Conti Hotel. There was reportedly only 1 room left at Prince Conti Hotel so I decided to book it, & then cancel the booking at Hotel St Marie. After booking Prince Conti Hotel I tried to cancel Hotel St Marie on Expedia’s website, but frustratingly found there to be no cancel icon next to the booking as there should have been.
As a result, I phoned Expedia Australia Customer Service & spoke with a staff member there. I explained what had happened & told her that Expedia.com.au website said that there was free cancellation on my booking until April 22nd, but that I was unable to cancel it on the website. I took photos of the website in front of me on my computer & demonstrated to her that when you make a booking for April 25th-29th at Hotel St Marie, the website states that you have free cancellation by April 22nd. The staff member, Manish, said that despite this, at best, I would only be able to receive a partial refund of my $1196.14 because they do not give a refund for the nights of April 26th, 27th or 28th (ie. I was told I would be lucky to be refunded for one night out of the 4 nights I had booked). Manish told me that she would not be able to let me know about any refundable portion for 3-5 business days. On numerous occasions during the call with Manish I demanded to speak with a manager but each time, Manish told me that the manager was "unavailable" or "on a call."
To me this service is absolutely the most underhanded, corrupt & immoral behaviour of any business I have ever dealt with. The website stated free cancellation twice during the booking process, as evidenced in the photos I took of my screen, and only when I received the Itinerary (after having paid) did I read in small fine print at the bottom that reservations on the dates included in my booking are non-refundable. How can it be legal for Expedia’s website to state "free cancellation by April 22nd" when I book accommodation for April 25th-29th & then state on the Itinerary (sent to me after paying) that the dates included in my booking are non-refundable.
The following morning (on 07/03/16) I contacted Expedia Australia Customer Service again & spoke with another representative & I asked to speak with a manager as soon as my call was answered. I was told that this was not possible. As I result, I again explained the situation & demanded a full refund of my $1196.14 & told him I would not accept anything less than a full refund. I demanded to speak with a manager but was told that the manager was unavailable. After repeatedly angrily demanding to speak with a manager, I was told that he (the rep) would speak with a manager on my behalf.
When the Expedia rep returned to the phone 40 mins later, he implied that he had achieved a positive result for me & said that I would receive a refund for 3 nights, out of the 4 I had paid for. In disbelief, I again reminded him that a free cancellation actually means that you are able to cancel without losing any money. I demanded a full refund. The rep then put me on hold again so that he could speak with his supervisior. When he returned to the phone after approx 20 mins, he told me I would pay a $50 penalty fee but would be refunded the remaining amount. In astonishment, I again stated that I would accept nothing less than a full refund. I reiterated that Expedia had stated "free cancellation by April 22nd" & made it clear that as Expedia were at fault, they should be the ones to forfeit any money, not me. After being placed on hold again, the rep eventually returned & said that I would receive a full refund.
I have never ever experienced such unbelievably poor & unlawful service. I cannot believe that Expedia is allowed to do business this way, by falsely misleading people to make a booking by advertising "free cancellation" and then sending them an itinerary which states that the dates of the booking are non-refundable. I do not believe this would be legal.
Unfortunately I still have my booking at Prince Conti Hotel through Expedia (which also stated free cancellation by 22nd). On 8th March I requested to cancel this booking, because I assumed it is most likely also turn out to be a non-refundable booking despite Expedia stating the booking had free cancellation by April 22nd. Due to the issues I’d had cancelling my other booking through Expedia, on this occasion my case was delegated to an Expedia representative who claimed she was from the Social Media Escalations Team and of “the highest authority.” After 9 days of working on my case, she eventually told me that if I cancelled I would only be refunded $170 AU out of my $973.57AU. She said that despite their booking page stating free cancellation by April 22nd, if you click on the words “rules & restrictions,” which are in very small blue writing at the base of their final booking page, you are redirected to information which includes a list of information, including a statement maintaining that the dates of the booking are non-refundable.
I really am in disbelief that Expedia are allowed to practice this way. I am concerned that despite my arguments with Expedia, their booking pages continue to state free cancellation for bookings made in New Orleans. As a result, other consumers will also be mislead & will make bookings through Expedia which state free cancellation which are actually non-refundable. I have attached photos of Expedia’s booking pages.

Bad customer service, useless insurance

Very bad customer service, useless insurance

I had one insurance claim, and called 3 times over 6 month. Each time they apologize and say refund will be ready in two months. Then after 6 months I was told nothing had ever happened yet, still at stage 0. Very frustrating.
Also wasted a lot of money on the call.

Try to avoid this agency as much as possible. The customer service is not responsible.
The insurance is just to get free money from you.
The 1 star rating self-explains itself.

Expedia Failure

received an email from Expedia to advise that there had been a signicant change made to a specific route of my trip to Europe. The email read that I had been contacted several times before via email and contact number with no response....NOT TRUE....nothing in my junk mail and no missed call on my phone. It continued to say that this would be the last time I would be contacted and that my options were limited. So I called the number provided immediately....needless to say that they could not help me but generated another case Case ID and advised that I would be contacted witching 72 hours. No such thing so I called again same story, another Case ID and and another promise that someone would contact me in 72 hours. 72 hours passed, no call, so the same scenario repeated a third time. What sort of service is this, why provide a phone number that the operator can not assist you with the problem for one, when asked for another number that I could call, I was advised that this was not possible. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was advised they were too busy! Very dissapointing Expedia, I have always used you in the past, no issues because there had not been any issues with the booking I guess, but lesson learnt and will not use you in the future regardless of how cheap your fares are. Not sure how this will end!

Expedia used to be reputable business

Expedia used to be reputable business. I have booked many flights and hotels with them and I never had problems. Last night I was charged twice for my flight. I called immediately after I checked my bank account and was told that that is normal. I disagreed as this hasn't happen before . Than I was told that it will be refunded to me . As it didn't happen I called and asked to talk to the manager. Of course, all of them were in the meeting. I offered to stay on hold for as long as it takes and the manager answered after a couple of minutes. When I asked for his name (after explaining that I will complain to the department of fair trading) he hung up on me. I was on that call for 30 minutes. Now after dialling again I am on hold to talk to the manager.

Awful - unresponsive, false information - how can I get my money?

Booked a trip using Expedia in the UK to Milford Sound, New Zealand when I holidayed there in October 2014. Unfortunately due to bad weather the trip was partially cancelled. The trip organiser stated that refunds would be processed via Expedia.
I have been trying ever since to obtain the refund but keep being told by Expedia they have to "check with the vendor". Having got fed up I contacted the vendor directly - they forwarded copies of three emails sent to Expedia authorising my refund, including one on the very day of the trip. I have spent over 4 hours on the phone with Expedia trying to resolve this issue. They ask for me to hold the line whilst the check again with the vendor - until I point out that it's the middle of the night in New Zealand and there wont be anyone there! Expedia then say they will call me back - three times now, no call, no email - now at a complete loss regarding what to do. Have asked the vendor in New Zealand for help, but they have also told me they can't get through to anyone at Expedia.
