Charged twice for the wrong fares
They issued the wrong fare classes with no option to cancel. I was charged twice for the same booking. Customer service is unable to do anything meaningful to rectify their mistake. Book your flights directly through the airline!

Terrible refund process
These guys made it almost impossible to receive a refund for what was clearly a duplicate transaction. A duplicate booking was made through their site because clear confirmation of the booking was not received. I then had to contact Jetstar to get the refund myself. And also contact the hotel directly (expedia's job) and request the refund, then hold expedia's hand through their own refund process as they had already declined the refund once before for no apparent reason.
NEVER USE THIS SITE, THE TIME WASTED IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY YOU MAY SAVE!

Their customer service people have no customer service. Will not answer a direct question, and just go off on a tangent. Happily wasted 2 and a 1/2 hours today and still have to take it further.
The company is fraudulent declining payments, and then taking payments from the declined account even though you have put alternate payment details in.

July 2024 Booked on Expedia for a house in Queensland for 2 nights. Cost $178 per night. However on my credit card charges were $522, it turns out that they add $168 in charges after you agree to pay Like all other reviewers it was a nightmare to get onto a human but eventually did and short response not other option, would not cancel booking, would not compensate for overcharging. Note Expedia is now pushing customers to its new identity Vbro and Stayz. All these are an American conglomerate Expedia is the parent company and they are trying to cover their shocking reputation by changing the app name. Be warned their object is to make money and the 2 words “customer” and “service” do not fit in a sentence for them. Always try and contact rental property directly to avoid booking apps. Shockers

Awful Customer Contact Service
Easy to book and as long as everything goes the way you had hoped then it will most likely be ok. HOWEVER, should you need to contact a real person/agent then you will be very frustrated in respect to gaining more detailed information. Just try to change your email address for example from an old login.
I have just looked at the review for Expedia and notice a string of 1 star ratings. Be careful is all I can say.
A scam, they basically stole my money
I booked an activity in Hong Kong through Expedia Australia and it was a scam. I paid 170 AUD, I had a booking on March 2nd at 11:30AM. When I arrived there, the venue was organizing a private event and there was no availability for us (despite the booking). Then I requested a refund to Expedia and it has been a nightmare. I had to talk with 5 or 6 persons by chat, explaining again and again what happened. I lost so much time contacting them. In the end, because they were not able to contact their own supplier in Hong Kong to confirm that the experience didn't happen, they didn't refund. Such a scam and worse customer experience ever. They basically steal your money and don't mind if the experience even happens.

3 months and counting for cancelled flight refund
Booked an entire overseas trip, part of the return flight was cancelled.
Tried contacting Expedia support to organise a change of the entire return flight as neither of the options provided suited.
1. Expedia support got the date of the return flight change request wrong.
2. Then they were unable to locate the request when called back to correct it.
3. Could never get in contact with the airline apparently to organise the change.
4. In the end tried to organise a refund of the return flight.
5. Took over a month to get a request to the airline for the refund as each different support person had trouble locating the original request until we demanded to receive a copy of the request emailed to the airline.
6. Waited almost 3 months, no follow-up or further information provided about the refund.
7. Contacted Expedia support to follow-up and after over 40mins on the phone, was advised that they "tried" to contact the airline, but was unsuccessful and they will try again tomorrow and let me know in 4-5 business days a confirmation of the refund.
8. After cornering the support person over the phrasing of what they just said, they admitted that they can't guarantee they'll receive confirmation of the refund in that time (meaning they therefore would potentially never send me an update).
9. After further cornering the support person, I was advised that if I want them to continue to follow up with the airline, I would need to contact them each time, as after they try tomorrow, they will simply wait for a response.
10. When further prompted as to why it is on their customer to contact them to get them to contact the airline to follow-up on the refund, the support person was unable to provide an answer and then openly admitted that they were just trying to get me off the phone as they were not going to do anything further to help me.
Why can’t I cancel my car hire?!
I am still trying to cancel a car hire booking for June 2024. I have cancelled it half a dozen times in the app and received confirmation emails. It’s still showing as live with no refund. Went on live chat twice where I was assured it was cancelled ‘check back in four hours’ - still live on my account a day later. It’s absolute rubbish, why can’t I cancel my hire car? It states I can cancel for a full refund up to six hours before the booking - I’m five months early and can’t cancel! It’s taking up a lot of my time now and is very annoying. It is certainly putting me off using Expedia in future. 😩
Their bookings are not valid, there was no rented accommodation.
We booked accommodation for two adults and one child in Perth, WA, for a month. We didn't have accommodation when we arrived. Didn't want to solve the problem, suggested we spend one night on the street.
We checked twice more to make sure we had a reservation and that it would start on the right day. We received 2 replies that everything was correct.

Possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with, wouldn’t give me a refund on a 2k flight because my brother passed away. I will never ever book through this company, was on hold for hours dealing with people reading off scripts. Do yourself a favour and never book through them.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Will not provide refund even though I have the checkout paperwork and confirmation. Claimed the hotel I stayed at said I did not leave early even though I have the statement showing otherwise. Expedia said they can't "override" a hotels decision. I'm out money with a shoulder shrug from Expedia followed by an "oh well" nothing we can do. I will never use Expedia again.
Custom Support Failure
I booked a hotel using the Expedia UK site. My queries, to Customer Support, about status of deposit payment and possible additional charges from hotel were not be resolved. They stated that they were unable to contact the hotel but expected me to sort the issues out myself, by contacting the hotel! At their request, I provided a contact number and time for them to call me. They didn't call. My multiple requests for specific information and to let me know how to raise a formal complaint were ignored. There is nothing on their website on how to raise formal complaint. Was filthy with flying insects, ants and spiders.Both the Warwick Allerton hotel and Expedia pointing fingers and refused to take responsibility. I based my booking on reviews and won’t be using Expedia site again as our experience was not published because of how dissatisfied we were on our checking in and been given terrible treatment by the duty manager who gave us the wrong room. Got charged American dollars for Australian booking
We booked 2 nights accomodation in Australian dollars on an Australian computer (we live in Australia) for an Australian Hotel and got charged in American dollars - $270 more than the original price of $498.
All our itinerary, booking and receipts are in Australian dollars.
To fix this Expedia want a screen shot of the Hotel booking when we were booking - impossible that date has passed!!!!
NEVER again would I book with Expedia - once they have your card details they can charge what they want and make it impossible to get refunded the difference.
