Thieves with a Website

Horrible company. No service at all. They do not respond to email or queries. Just send stupid auto-responses with the lie that your email will be responded to in 24 hours. Once they have your money, you are out of luck. The company should be investigated for fraud and shut down.

Contact your credit card company and file fraud charges because they will steal your money by not delivering what you order from them. Tell everyone you know.

So much for being a loyal customerI ordered a radio from them and UPS…

I ordered a radio from them and UPS said it delivered it, not to my address but to some address 155 yards away from Mine. Needless to say, I didn't get it. UPS was no help, saying I had to contact Hammacher to file claim. I called and they said they would refund my money, but would not send replacement. So I can't get a radio because some UPS driver most likely lifted it and hammacher wouldn't help me at all. Last time I shop at hammacher.

Extremely unhelpful and does not stand behind products

My mom bought a toy for my daughter for Easter. It arrived and worked for a few minutes and then wouldn’t work anymore. I tried charging the battery and following other troubleshooting tips in the manual. After no success, I reached out to Hammacher Schlemmer and asked if they could help in any way. Their reply was that I was outside of the 30 day warranty by 2 days and they would not replace it. I explained that I wasn’t asking for a replacement, just help with troubleshooting. They again replied that they wouldn’t be able to replace the item. I reached out to the actual manufacturer, who was glad to help and offered to replace the item. After a few days, they followed up saying their warehouse was actually out of stock of the item. I asked if they could authorize Hammacher Schlemmer to send a replacement since they still had it in stock and they agreed. I again reached out to Hammacher Schlemmer explaining this and they quickly replied saying I was outside the warranty period and they would not replace it, disregarding the fact that the manufacturer authorized them to replace it. Since then I’ve tried calling again being told the same thing. I never received a replacement. Definitely will not do business with them in the future.

Slick scam

Scam. With all the complaints that I am reading online for the monthly charge of $16.95, I wonder how much money HS has made on unsuspecting customers who checked a box for a shipping discount and got signed up to pay a monthly "rewards" charge. Pretty slick. When checking out last Nov online, we checked a box for a discount on shipping. Since then we have been charged $118.65 at $16.95/month. We have filed a fraud claim with American Express. After buying from them for 60 years, way back in the days of the fabulous New York store, we are no longer customers.

Beware!!

Beware!!! Today I saw charges for $16.95 from Hammacher Schlemmer on a credit card bill. I opened my online account w/ H-S checked charges, this $16.95 was a recurring monthly charge on my credit card, and was called a Clarus. Searching the web I discovered Clarus was the H-S Rewards program. Having purchased nothing from H-S more than a year, I was shocked by this charge. I called the Clarus Customer Service and was told that the $16.95/month was the Fee for belonging to Hammacher S. Rewards. When I clicked on "Agree" when I signed up and didn't notice anywhere that after a 30 Day Trial that there was a monthly charge to belong. This was not made obvious or clear in any way when signing up. The total came to 18 months = $305.10 for NO Merchandise. Technically my fault for not noticing this sooner, but this time period has been the hardest of my whole life. So Beware!!!

HS Run By Loose Chicken Heads

HS tends to hire loose chicken heads!
I ordered a white jewelry case for last Christmas - arrived damaged! I returned it for an exchanged but they ended up giving me the wrong item, it was a men's watch case instead, returned that item again.
Only having to receive a refund check when I didn't mark that off on my return paper form, I checked off - exchange item for the CORRECT item this time.
Called HS and told the rep about the situation, idiot told me just deposit it and purchase the item again, to which I said, I'm not depositing it because technically they still have my money but the idiot couldn't get that through his head and had a screaming match because he refused to do the most basic thing which is to simply replace the order with a click of a button instead of making customers go through all the trouble, eventually he came back and said we will void the check and replace the item. Went to check on the status after a couple weeks later and was told by a lady, she does see the notes and that I should be receiving an email within 24 hours or so. Tick-Tock nothing, almost two month goes by of silence. I would rather take the loss and move on! I was so sick of this roundabout and gave them so many chances when I shouldn't. Date of experience really happened last Christmas (2024) and now it's May

Beware of faulty products and poor customer service

I ordered a gift for my daughter at Easter. It took over 10 days to be delivered. The product (singing rabbit) was broken. I took a video and sent it to them. The sent a replacement but that took over 10 days. The batteries in that rabbit were corroded. When cleaned and new batteries it did work. I write a bad review. Customer Service offered a replacement or refund. They then decided to do nothing but pay for batteries. I will never order from them again!!!! They send faulty products and don’t stand by their word. By the way, the rabbit quit working. Guess the corrosion got to it.
Beware!!!

Hammacher Schlemmer is a rip off .. you can only buy from their catalogue .. they have no store where you can look around .. I ask if I could drive over & pick up my item (to avoid the exorbitant shipping costs) .. they said NO .. so, I ordered an item .. then got a message that I could save $40 on my purchase .. went thru several screens & got to one that wanted to update my computer .. at that, I bailed out .. this morning I found 3 charges on my visa acct for the same amount .. what a bunch of crooks .. also yesterday got a coupon to save $10 on my next purchase .. today got another message that said $10 coupon expires today .. how do they get away w/this nonsense .. I'll never but anything else from them !!! assuming I have any money left .. they should copy Amazon's understandable & user-friendly website .. all I can say is .. beware or .. they'll get ya coming & going !!!!

This is the review I submitted on the Peanuts Halloween Tree that Hammacher refused to add to their website. I will never buy another item from them or Bradford Exchange.

I have eyed this for years. I'm a Snoopy fan. But if you look at the website ratings for Bradford Exchange (Hammacher is a subsidiary), I have steered clear. When I saw that I could purchase it at HS for 25% off, I decided to see what the quality was. I was disappointed and underwhelmed as I unpackaged it. This is of VERY average quality. The box it comes in is packaging you would expect from the dollar store. It is not good enough for year after year storage. The ornaments/figurines were protected and packaged well. But the pride of workmanship in general is just average. The placement of the figurines is lopsided. Pigpen hangs so low, he originally covered up Linus and the Great Pumpkin sign. I did the best I could to adjust him upward, it's not easy and you have to apply gentle pressure. The branches are nowhere near as sculpted as the advertised image. I've noticed that there is never a good description of the materials used in their products. If they were proud of both the materials and craftsmanship, they would clearly state it. The on/off switch is of very poor quality. It works, it's just cheap. It shows that it is all about the profit and not the end product. It is definitely not worth the $139.99 price tag, it is not worth what I paid on sale. Shipping and handling is too high. It is just OK, a three star product that I have chosen to keep, avoiding additional cost and hassle to return. Maybe that is why the company charges a return fee as a deterrent. I knew this going in. If you decide to purchase it, you will not receive exactly what is pictured. I took the best picture possible so I could set the right expectations.

Never again

Never again. Ordered something important for my wife. Came 18 days later. Opened the box and a Mother Goose stuffed animal was in the box, not what we ordered. a 30:00 item vs a 230.00 item. I called and was told my order would be expedited, wrong. Still waiting for our first item now 29 days later. Their expediting is going on, over two weeks. I wish I had read the reviews earlier. Please don't order from them unless you are willing to wait a very long time. One last thing I am also still waiting for a manager to call me back as promised. I am not holding my breath.

NEVER, EVER buy from this company!!!

My husband wanted a portable DVD player specifically from this company due to one that he had purchased years ago was his favorite. First of all, this company charges at least twice as much as a better model from Amazon. When it did not perform as expected, we had to pay return shipping costs and Hammacher Schlemmer charged a significant restocking fee. Then they issues a Gift Certificate rather than a refund. I called to request refund and two months later when refund had still not been received, I was advised that there was no record of request. I have again requested refund. We will see if it arrives. We will NEVER, EVER again purchase from this company. Beware!!!!!!

Ordered a personal rose massager

Ordered a personal rose massager. Nowhere did it say in the catalog or online description that is was for woman, as it does with another female personal massager. So it arrives. I realize the mistake. But they won't take it back. The Customer Service agent I spoke at length with never even called me back to follow up, as she said she would do. So I am out $59.95 plus shipping, and stuck with this product I cannot use. Please put in the description that this product is made for women. Please do the right thing and refund my money. Thank you.

Scam "Rewards Program"

I started seeing a $16.95 per month charge on my credit card for "Hammacher Schlemmer" rewards. When I called, they said I agreed to it when I bought something from them. Must be some small print somewhere. What a scam! I called and cancelled but not until they got 4 or 5 months of fees.

Buy anywhere but there

Don't order anything from them. Shipment arrives 3 months later. Wrong item sent and I have to pay return and then they claim they never received item so they are refusing to refund.

On February 6, I ordered a pair of orthopedic walking shoes, designed for individuals with plantar fasciitis. I received a confirmation email with this message: "This email is to confirm that we have received your order #W14772759, placed on 2/6/2025. Expected ship date 2/11/2025" Today, February 14, I called the Customer Service Department, which is an outsourced center, and asked about the status of my order since no tracking number was provided in the confirmation email. I was told that the item was so popular, the store was sold out. I asked why there was no "Sold Out" or "Out of Stock" notice on the website. I received neither an answer nor an apology. I stated: "So, why wasn't there a follow-up email informing me that the shoes were sold out?" I did not receive an answer. I proceeded to tell the Customer Rep that leaving a customer in the dark without notice and without crediting the total purchase amount back to their account is unethical and strikes me as a form of fraud. Again, no apology was forthcoming. I demanded that the amount be credited back to my account, but it will take at least 3 business days before I can verify. I will never again attempt to buy an item from Hammacher Schlemmer, a company that I previously respected. If this is a ploy to defraud customers, then shame, shame, shame!!!

This company is terrible

This company is terrible. Their customer service is horrible. You wait weeks and weeks for a credit back on your charge card. They don’t care. I don’t know how they stay in business. I never should’ve ordered from them.

This is my second review regarding the same issue with Hammacher Schlemmer. I cannot stress enough to not trust this company. They sent me the wrong item and I returned it and told them to cancel my order. They resent the order anyway and I returned that. Now they are telling my bank they never received the return and I have proof with both slips from UPS when I returned both items, neither of which I wanted. I have never experienced anything like this before. If I could give them no stars I would. It’s a shame for anyone to treat a customer this way, whether it worked out or not they shouldn’t lie. If you ever do return anything make sure to get evidence.

Don’t order - they have no inventory

Ordered an item Nov 27 for my grandkids. Said it was shipping January 31 - bought other items and thought it would be a good surprise. Still haven’t received it - now on back order until March 11. I thought it was 1 item - but no - no ordered an item for my son-in-laws 40th birthday. SAME THING!! Awful company to work with. AND they put the charge through in November!! At least Amazon doesn’t charge you until your item ships - they sure could learn a thing or 2. Never even looking at their catalog ever again. You are a joke!!
