Great family holiday canoeing along the Dordogne with Headwater Holidays. Kids ages ranged from 8 - 15. They loved it. Hotels were lovely.

An excellent trip!
From booking to experiencing our Headwater holiday everything went very smoothly. My personal sales consultant, Megan, kept me fully informed and dealt effectively with queries. The trip was very well planned, the whole trip ran like clockwork. We were based in a nice hotel located very conveniently for the activities. Our app was an excellent guide on our walks and our whole experience was excellent.

Machu Picchu with private guide
We had an wonderful trip to Peru. We chose the private guide option, rather than the group tours of previous holidays, and wondered whether it would be worth the expense: it proved well worth the money. Our guide was excellent, and helped us to make the most of our time to enjoy Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu, the Rainbow Mountains and a number of Inca sites

You’re on your own with Headwater
Itinerary changed at last minute….indeed I was driving down to Switzerland without a clear idea of the revised plan. They promised a taxi transfer on last day… it didn’t show up hence left to fend for myself. No meaningful support from local agent or Headwater UK. Fair and reasonable compensation offered after further consideration....maybe my problem was a one off. May give them a second chance.

Great organisation from start to finish, we walked the Portuguese Coastal Camino, 150+ miles, everything went brilliantly from the briefing in Porto to the Hotels to the baggage transfer.

Well planned and organised
Well planned and organised. The staff were great at helping out with some problems I had initially. The navigation app generally worked well (despite my reluctance to use it)... I still prefer a map! The transfers were excellent and the hotels were a good standard.

Excellent company
I went on a semi- independent tour of Puglia, Italy with Headwater. A superb and professional company with excellent communication from booking up to departure.
Their travel app with the itinerary, location information and restaurants recommendations was very useful.
Highly recommended.

I think what sets Headwater apart is…
I think what sets Headwater apart is the app for your phone. We NEVER used a map I felt very comfortable knowing exactly where we were and if we missed a turn it would tell us. Knowing this I would book another trip with them.

Having used Headwater walking holidays…
Having used Headwater walking holidays in the past (pre Covid 2020) we found the company excellent. Since it has been taken over by a large conglomerate standards of accomodation have dropped considerably. The cycling holiday in the Algarve in June 2025 was subcontracted to Portugal A2Z holidays. Whilst the first and last Hotel (Memmo Baleeira Sagres) was superb, the Apartment Vila Branca in Lagos was basic and far out of town and the basic cottages in the middle of nowhere Aldeia da Pedralva was uninhabitable, so we left after one night. Dinner was only worth the money at Hotel Memmo in Sagres. The company now charges large amounts for taxi transfers. We booked our own flights and hired a car instead. I wrote a complaint with photos of the abandoned village in Pedralva and received a response from Headwater which appeared to have been written by AI. I will not be using this company again.

We do sincerely apologise that you were disappointed in A2Z who we have a long standing relationship with and receive positive reviews for them. We are also sorry that you were disappointed with Pedralva, a village that has been lovingly restored in recent years and we have customers and staff members who have enjoyed their visits there. I can assure you that the communication you received from Headwater were directly from our Customer Service team who look into each piece of feedback for our customers and we take all issues raised seriously, as we did in your case. We are very sorry you do not wish to use us again, but if you did, we will be more than happy to welcome you back on a future trip.
