This is what I needed, the way I need it. Organized but not rigid; friendly and empathetic, while all about realistic business results. Some of the training is very formal and demanding, and some is social and fun...in two weeks, I've moved past the "overwhelming" phase and am able to make judgments about what to learn next.

I have loved working on my journey to become an IDOL. There is so much to learn, but I have enjoyed every part of it. I love the mentor/coach sessions and being able to see different perspectives. The feedback I have received from everyone in the Academy has been honest and meaningful! I feel that I have grown so much. Thank you IDOL courses Academy!

IDOL Courses Academy is informative and supportive. The amount of resources available to members is incredible. The mentor and peer-to-peer support is an invaluable resource for experienced IDs and newbies alike. I highly recommend IDOL!

Fantastic support and program flexibility

This program is incredibly helpful for not only transitioning teachers, but anyone interested in becoming an Instructional Designer. There are many ways to put into practice the skills needed to become an ID, the everyday things that IDs do at in-person or remote jobs.
As I've read Julie Dirksen's Design For How People Learn, I am seeing the techniques laid out in her book as I go through the Idol Academy - a real life, relevant example of designing courses for adults.
Lifetime access to the academy and all of the mentors, coaches and peer support is amazing and well worth the investment in yourself. As well, the first 14 days of #DoItMessy work gets your feet wet quickly and helps you produce assets immediately for your online portfolio, which you also build in #DoItMessy.
Having the Idol Academy on my resume is a solid asset that, I believe, sets me apart from most other applicants.

The IDOL Academy taught me the tools I needed to get a job as a corporate instructional designer. I continue to use the Academy's resources regularly. This was the best investment! If you are on the fence just do it.

I began this course last year, and I love it. The experience continues to push me to learn and grow. It has taught me so much. I am completing a doctorate in Instructional design, allowing me to demonstrate so many skills I would not have known. I can show my expertise through understanding and using the tools needed to freelance. I love that I can join the cohort as many times as I want with the available community to all members. The program has exceeded all my expectations.

I've had a great experience working through the IDOL academy. I really enjoy that it is self paced and that you are never behind. It creates flexibility for full time workers to complete coursework.

I had been procrastinating joining IDOL for almost past 8 months but in Jan'22 I finally decided to go ahead. I do had certain apprehensions, because the amount involved was big and most importantly I was sitting in another part of the world (Australia) but after 8 weeks of being a part of this wonderful community, I have nothing but praises for this academy and for all its extremely supportive mentors and coaches. Not even for a day I felt, I am in a different country. In just 8 weeks, I have got some really insightful feedback and have learned so much, not only about ID and eLearning but about the nitty-gritty of venturing into the field of Instructional Designing. I am sure my lifelong association with IDOL Academy will take me far ahead in my professional journey. Thank you all the members and especially Dr.Robin for creating this idealistic platform for all aspiring and existing IDOLs!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the IDOL Academy and I am thrilled that as an alumni I get to keep learning there still. There is so much content and I love the fact that I can keep goign and join in with the next cohort. Everyone is really supportive and approachable and you can go as fast or slow as you like.

This course has given me a variety of new information and made it interesting every step of the way. Usually I have a hard time staying interested in coursework but I found myself looking forward to the next step. This training was fun, intriguing, and challenging; it was really objective and straightforward. It will undoubtedly come in handy in my life as a student and a professional. This course work provided me with a wealth of information-gathering methods that were very innovative and highly skilled. This helped me learn the fundamentals of finding and assessing material, as well as evaluating, citing, and creating original content. This has been the best investment I have made in myself in a very long time.

The value far exceeds the cost and after transitioning to a new role I absolutely love, the return on my initial investment is exponentially growing! The trade school experience was invaluable and transformational for me!

IDOL changed my life and helped me pivot my career. I was told repeatedly that it's an 8 week cohort, but that everything is self-paced and I'd get access to the curriculum for life. Even new content is added to the program every cohort, so I get that too.

I only got through 1/4th of the curriculum in my first cohort, but I had a new job by then too. To give context, I had to go on medical leave so I was able to dedicate full-time to IDOL and my job search. No one promised me a new career in 8 weeks.

I came back a year later and earned the other badges as I made my second career pivot.

The academy really is what you put into it, but that's with everything in life.

The only improvement I'd make to IDOL is that feedback mechanism of the program could be improved upon. But that challenge isn't from a place of ill-intent or neglect, just that the academy is growing and coaches aren't full-time employees. But it's also a challenge of which IDOL is aware and working on.

I joined IDOL as part of the first cohort. At the time, it was the only instructional designer program on the market. I have gained skills that have provided me a path to new opportunities. The program has grown with new features including coaches and mentors who help you on your journey to become an IDOL. The icing on the cake is the community and friends I have made and the workshops because I continue learning each cohort.
