Shockingly bad record keeping, and very questionable handling of upfront rent. Not a good experience.

I appointed Jan Forster Estate Agents to search for a new tenant for a property I own.
The process was swift in that my new tenant was found within a couple of weeks.
Natasha Barton of Jan Forster has been so helpful and professional throughout the tenant finding experience.
Jack moved in today after his References were checked. I met him this morning and can see we will get on well - many thanks again to Jan Forster and Natasha.

The company’s recent insolvency appears to have been driven by poor financial and strategic management rather than a lack of viable business. According to the insolvency documentation, the lettings and property management side of the business remained profitable, yet long-standing employees were dismissed with no notice or adequate support.

Financial difficulties were attributed to competition and high operating costs, including high-street premises and significant monthly commitments such as Rightmove and CRM software fees. These costs were long-standing and well known to management, raising questions as to why meaningful changes were not made sooner to protect staff.

Internally, staff morale deteriorated significantly. Employees were moved between offices without proper consultation, which many perceived as an attempt to pressure them into leaving. When morale understandably declined, this was then used against staff.

After staff were dismissed without notice, other local estate agents publicly advertised vacancies and offered opportunities to those affected. In response to one such public job post, a senior figure associated with the business criticised these efforts and suggested that competitors were attempting to take staff, despite those employees no longer being employed at the time. This response was widely seen as inappropriate given the circumstances.

Repeated concerns raised by employees regarding workplace conduct and wellbeing were not adequately addressed, despite evidence and complaints being raised.

Overall, this reflects a serious failure of leadership, financial planning, and duty of care towards employees during an already difficult and distressing period.

I am posting this review to advise people to read reviews based on the experiences of clients who have actually used the services of this Market leading company.

Former employees who have recently posted about their experience working in the company twice seem to think this platform is for them to share malicious and untrue stories. If this was a bad company to work for they wouldn’t have been returned for a second time! Their employment was ultimately terminated due to their lack of professional etiquette as well as their continued poor performance and laziness.

Well regarded and successful companies have a duty to protect their customers and their companies reputation from any employee who is causing a negative impact on their business.

A person who was dismissed a number of months ago with immediate effect who actually had a genuine grievance against any employer would have shared at that time. The fact that they are sharing now proves that they are not to be taken for a reliable and trustworthy source of information. They are simply driven by their malicious desire hoping to influence people into believing their deceitful statement. No intelligent person would believe such nonsense and will see this as a sacked employees pathetic attempt to seek revenge.

Jan Forster Estates is a great company to work for and they have an excellent reputation for being market leaders in the industry of estate agents.

Michelle Ormond and her colleagues at Jan Forster in Tynemouth could not have been more helpful during the sale of my late mother’s house. From the initial evaluation visit, through regular updates to completion, all JF staff were friendly and professional. Even when we hit a blip and I was starting to panic, they were calm and reassuring. Excellent service all round!

We had a great experience buying a house through JFE tynemouth branch. Lorraine in particular was very helpful and forthcoming with communication between ourselves and the seller. Would use them again.

From 1st stepping into their Tynemouth office, Michelle and team were both friendly and most helpful. It was therefore an easy choice appointing them, for the sale of our property. Although the sale encountered a few "buyer" issues along the way, we received the team's full support throughout, and the level of communication remained high at all times.
