STAY CLEAR – EVICTING A FAMILY AT CHRISTMAS
Jan Forster have left a family in a damp, mouldy home for months. Now they are getting ready to evict them for complaining. Could you be more heartless, greedy and cruel than throwing a family, their children and their baby onto the street just before Christmas? Shame on this lot. They have no place in our city and we will not tolerate them leeching off of families to line their own pockets. Avoid them at all costs.

Imagine how morally bankrupt you would have to be to evict a family of six, including an eight month old baby, from their house 2 weeks before Christmas? Excellent service if you want a pesky baby out of the house just before Christmas, otherwise avoid!!!!!!!!!!
AVOID LIKE PLAGUE
Left a household of 6 (including a baby) to live in damp and moldy conditions. 4 of the rooms unusable due to their condition. Children's toys damaged by the mold. Issued an eviction notice for 2 weeks before Christmas after Tennant submitted a complaint.

appaling treatment of tenants, property left in disrepair with multiple health hazards such as electrical hazards and damp/mould, when complaining about these issues, was issued with a no fault eviction. absoloutley abhorrent 'service' and treatment of tenants who have always payed rent on time. the landlord lives and works in dubai earning massive amounts. the letting agents have no care or regard for human wellbeing and care only about maximising profits and allowing tenants to either accept living in squalor or be homeless.

Listed a families home with JF
Listed a families home with JF, forced us to take off the market after we accepted an offer based on their assurance they had been vetted, months went by and buyers finally got refused an mortgage, didn't even have a credit score, by which point the market had tanked, then we had to buy ourselves out the contract. Plus charged us for a walk through video that was supposably sent out to clients, when I asked to see it they couldn't produce it and gave a half arsed reason why it didn't exist.

I only noticed 2 weeks later when the account was overdrawn. Called them and they had no idea. Not the first issue I've had with this company and I'm sure it won't be the last. Will be taking my business elsewhere when tenancy comes up fior renewal.
Awful company
Awful company, where you have to do all of the work on their behalf. They lie, twist the truth and cover their backs when they are in the wrong. Avoid at all costs and go with someone else as these will have you paying regardless
Sellers beware: sign only on the dotted line
I contacted Jan Forster Estates early in 2022 to obtain a quote to sell my home. They promptly sent out a representative to explain the process to me. He looked around my home and then offered me his opinion on value, which I initially accepted, but then increased, after researching other properties of the same style which had sold at a higher price in less attractive positions. JFE did not question the increased price!
My opinion of JFE is not related to their sale of my home, as they marketed the property quickly and secured a buyer at my requested price. However, they did not research any comparable properties which had recently sold which was why my home was under-valued. In addition, the manner in which they convince clients to sign contract documents is not only unprofessional but, as the Property Ombudsman pointed out to me, is a legal issue and I was requested to refer to my solicitor, as the complaint did not come under their remit.
I was shown a contract on an ipad which I couldn't clearly read, which was not explained to me nor was I advised how many pages the contract contained. I was asked to sign in a white box on the ipad, but could not see the section to which it related. My signature was then, unbeknownst to me, inserted into all of the sections of the contract.
Only when I decided not to move and withdrew my property from the market, did I understand the implications of signing on an ipad. My signature was used to agree to conditions of which I had no knowledge and which have implications for me if I wish to resell my home in the next two years.
All I can say, in summary, is: seller beware! Ask for a hard copy before you sign anything and undertake your own research on property values before you meet anyone from JFE.

Totally dishonest company, They have cheated me over the last couple of years. They don't honour the contract that they have with you. They have not done so much since being with them. It would take me a hour to write this review. For example: They let my tenancy go a week in the middle of the coldest time of the year without hot water or heat before they called me, then i had to sort it all out even though that is what i pay them for. I have asked to speak with the managing director half a dozen times without them getting back to me to discuses the issues at hand.
During the first lock down, they were showing homes to people to rent, however they didn't go out to inspect the properties for landlords. They did still charge landlords full money for the service.
The manager is unwilling to help solve any issues you have with the company. He tries to make out that you are the issue and not them.
Advice to other landlords: If you want to have happy tenants, avoid this company.

Don't use Jan Forster
Bought a house from Jan Forster all good, or I thought...
The house next door was then let by Jan Forster a few months after completing my purchase to the neighbors from hell!
Spoken and emailed Jan Forster numerous times and they have not shown one bit of interest into solving the issue. Basically we put them in, you get them out!
I've been told to contact the police or the council if there anti social behaviour continues.
If I could give no stars I would. I don't recommend Jan Forster and would never use them again.

Dishonest. I had a chain break so ended up not advertising with them anymore. They weren't even the Estate agents that found my buyer as they were simply too slow. Contacted a cash buyer company to save the chain. They needed a valuation and Jan Forster provided one.... When compared to another estate agent was 30k below and was also 15k below what they were going to advertise the property for. They did this out of spite. I found out it was them as the company provided me their valuation report. Also they came over and put a sign up again without my knowledge and damaged my property in the process... Avoid like the plague

I wish I had read the reviews before engaging with Jan Forster Estates as we'd not had gone near them. My daughter had a move in date a month in advance from them, she booked her removal company etc. 1 working day before move in, the agent pulled out saying the existing tenant was no longer moving out. Something not right about the whole thing, it stinks!
Literally the worst company ever
Would honestly give them zero stars if I could.
Not sure where to start. Probably the worst letting agency I have dealt with.
For a start we were left without hot water for 6 days. Kept getting told the engineers were busy. Even though the law is to not be left longer than 24 hours.
Barely respond to maintenance reports unless you constantly go on at them. They never get anything fixed. There was a window that needed fixed that never got sorted. The bath was leaking water from the overflow and it took 3 engineers to fix it… Not really sure why it was such an issue.
They just don’t seem to care at all.
Now that I’ve moved out. It’s been well over the time for them to get my deposit back and I still haven’t heard from them. Even after asking multiple times.
I have been told I would get that information yesterday. But don’t be daft, of course I haven’t.
So I’m having to take this further.
Honestly don’t know how they are still functioning as a company.

The company couldn’t provide us with a working toilet throughout our tenancy. Pinned the blame on us even though the plumber told us it was the unit.
Jan forster then wanted us to pay rent even tho we were living in a property with no toilet ! Having to work from home during covid times and use the toilets of local supermarkets! Zero response from the company zero resolution and they still have our deposit 1 month on from leaving with no one being in touch.
This company is the most incompetent, unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. We will be taking this further. If you want to have a hassle free tenancy use someone else.
