This was my first order from Peters…

This was my first order from Peters spares. Ordered the products a about 10 pm. Had an issue with PayPal ordering accidentally the same order 3 times (thanks to PayPal). Phoned first thing the following morning to explain the situation. The problem was sorted out immediately with a friendly member of staff from sales. Sent texts to confirm refund. Excellent service. Will use them again. Many thanks 😊

Used to be a good shop but not so now

Used to be a good shop but not so now. Mr "I am the manager" chatted endlessly to someone else about how fast his car was. I needed a repair but was evently told they don't repair until next March. Maybe he should repair rather than stand and chat?

I'm sorry you have had to leave a poor review. I will mention this to my manager. Not everyone can repair trains, this is why we have the service. Some customers only outlet or being social is to talk in a shop we try to please all customers needs and more than one customer that day ws having a chat to each other and staff, if they ask about our cars or anything else we can't just not talk to them it would be rude. You were being served by another member of staff so not left waiting. Re repairs every year for many years now we stopped taking them in November 1st to Feb 1st due to not being able to sit and do them and service the store needs at Christmas time and beyond. Lots of shops stopped doing repairs so we are inundated with them. Thanks Peter

The goods received were total rubbish…very poor service

The goods received were total rubbish not at all like the illustration on their web site. The £5 postage cost was a total rip off considering the item was so small it needed to be handled with tweezers. All in all a totally bad experience

All companies have set postal charges, we do offer 2nd class at checkout for £3.99 The cost of postage increases every year and at checkout you have the options of postage prices and the choice not to purchase. Thanks Peter

Peter’s spares was an all-round bad shopping experience.

Ordered some items on eBay from Peter’s Spares. The three items I ordered were to be sent on the same day and another item I had ordered that hadn’t been shipped. They ignored my request to combine postage and sent the orders in 2 separate parcels. At the time I accepted this as I realise they had probably already packaged the first item. I called them within a couple of hours of placing the second order to cancel it as I decided I didn’t want the items. Although the order had not left the shop I was told they would send them anyway as it would be too much work for them to find the package and cancel the postage. It has cost me almost £10 to return £50 of items because Peter’s Spares were not willing to help. The only option for eBay returns was to send the 3 items back individually at £3.25 each. Both parcels sent from Peter’s Spares I was charged £5 delivery each, which is around 25% higher than the actual postage and packaging costs. Whilst I agreed to this £5 charge when placing the order, on reflection of the whole experience of dealing with Peter’s Spares it has simply added to the question of why I tried to use them again. Could have easily been much better with a little, “going the extra mile to help”, as opposed to an arrogant and goading response on the phone and messages. I have admitted fault and apologised for this however there has never been any empathy or apology that they were not able to help with something very simple.

We do try to be speedy getting items out the same day where possible, once an item is packed and labelled in a sealed post bag we can't add items to that order. The order was that day in a sealed postal bag and x however many bags where there on the dispatch floor meaning we would have to tip all the mall bags out to find one item delaying others post. No one is being arrogant you are reading into your ebay message replies how you wish to. If our £5.00 postage was too much why have you spent £10 to send it back? Thanks Peter

Great range of parts

Great range of parts; delivery time scale was good; prices appear to be at similar prices to most other parts/spares providers but worth buying from, especially if you need quite a few part and can combine postage.

First time I ordered, very good. Now just ridiculous postage costs for internationalshipping. Stop advertising outside of the UK if you don't want to send product there. Really just pathetic.

We are sorry you are not happy with postage clearly stated before you press buy and before you enter your card details. This is the time to choose not to purchase. We want to enable all customers to purchase so offer different postage methods worldwide. We have asked for more information from you but have not had any. The last order from Geoff Boyd was August 2020 at this time it was Covid and a lack of planes put up postage costs. Thanks Peter

A great shop sadly no more

This used to be the goto place for all of your spares, Unfortunatly not anymore. They way overcharge on the postage they want £10 for some gears that will fit in a very small parcel costing £4 at most including packaging. Want to get in touch their phone lines are only open 2pm till 5pm and when you do get through the attitude stinks. This is no way to run a buisness. such a shame. The reply below is totally untrue this was an order that I rang the shop direct to purchase.

The customer ordered via ebay and used Buy It Now multiple times instead of adding to basket and then paying one lot of postage. We send hundreds of orders daily so are not able to find and match multiple orders together. Our phone lines are 10-12am then 2-5pm Thursdays 2-5pm due to low staff levels. The recordings showed no stinky attitude to your call from our staff only the customers attitude to not getting their postal combination. Shame customers can't add to Basket and just press buy it now lots of times. Thanks Peter

Why dont you spare time by Not shopping at Peter Spares. They have no idea of service, they have no responsibilty for the products they sell abroad and that is really all folks . you buy at your own risk and in my case it was a very expensive mistake.

Can not fault service. Ordered(R27089805) Tidy Track Roto Wheel Cleaner & spare Pads. Great communication. Sent quickly via Royal Mail 24 in a well packaged Box. Paperwork included if needed to return for any reason. Thank you.

Shop soiled goods.

The water damaged back scene behind my layout (along with the response to my complaint) will serve as a long standing reminder of -and talking point as to - the day I purchased online from Peter's Spares.

Little point in returning the goods - at my own further cost - as "having repaired the similarly damaged manufacturer's packaging they considered the goods fit for sale".

My request for a prepaid return postage label denied.

They asked for extra postage after accepting order and taking payment.

Placed ebay order, company took payment. 4 days later Peter's Spares asked for extra postage, as they claim ebay made mistake. ebay say they should have honoured original postage. I cancelled order and will not use again.

very professional

Peter has promptly, selflessly and very professionally given advice at risk of a sale. Certainly on my list of those who I will return to as there is a good range of stock and a well-organised website. I shall be unreservedly commending him to other railway modellers in my circle.

I have taken up model railway modeling …

I have taken up model railway modeling again after retiring. After opening my old boxes of equipment I found that the old engines needed servicing, but where to get the bits and pieces was a puzzle as none of the local modeling shops could help. I went on line for some brushes and springs for a ringfield motor. Being a silver surfer I am not adept with the web etc, so I decided to phone.
I spoke to a staff member who advised me with regards to my requirements and his expertise was exceptional.Giving me much hope of getting my re found hobby off the ground, his attitude and explanation to every query I had was just what I needed. My parts arrived in the post , just as promised within two days.
A great service from a first time of shopping there, but certainly not the last.
