Unscrupulous and immoral.
The countless negative reviews on the Internet alone should deter any potential new customers from contemplating this company. The company is in debt and resorts to legal questionable means in which to intimidate their customers into covering their losses.
I had been a customer for over 10 years, from the days of CEO Andrew Dollamore, to current company director Frank Einhellinger. My domain had been paid for until October 2015 (one year from now), and one day, without warning, the domain disappeared online and my email no longer functioned. Assuming it was a glitch, I contacted Streamline.net who told me I was being pursued by the debt agency (they even tried to force me only to deal with this agency - CCI Legal). I refused to do so on the basis that I have no legal contract with CCI Legal, only with streamline.net.
I had taken a second domain with hosting just over a year ago. After nearly a fortnight I wasn't able to do anything with it, and realised streamline.net hadn't even registered it on my behalf dispite taking payment. I contacted them, and they apologised and registered it with Tucows. I couldn't take a personal email address with the package and an upgrade was too expense, so I contacted the company by their ticket system and by phone, and told them I did not want the domain beyond the year because of this limitation. I transferred the domain before the year was up, and my credit card had expired, which I thought was convenient just in case they didn't keep a record of my request to cancel. Streamline.net claim they can ONLY take cancellations up to 7 days before a domain is due to expire, and they can only do this through their online ticket system. I strongly contest the legality of this. This unrelated domain/hosting is their reason for removing my second account and domain.
In effect streamline.net have stolen my 10 year old domain from me, and are holding it to ransom unless I pay an arbitary fine. Nominet are unable to help (without expensive fees) because streamline.net registers domains in their own company name and not the customers.
I advise anybody contemplating the use of this company to be aware. Rather than placate old customers and keep them onboard, they would sooner make idle threats with debt collectors. I would relish the prospect of putting forward my story in court, and now have to contemplate legal action. In the mean time I will put my story out there anywhere I can to warn others against the unscrupulous actions of streamline.net
USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL
I bought a package from this company in 2008 which I never used. I cancelled the package in 2010 and asked them to park the domain at a cost of £6 per year for two years and they invoice me up until 2012. They sent me bills in 2013 and 2014. I sent loads of emails in rebuttal. I did a WHOIS check of my domain and found that Streamline had not parked my domain and had not paid the registrar, TUCOWS, since 18.12.2009, even though they took money from my account up to 2010. I also discovered that my domain was sold and is now up for sale on BuyDomains.com for £1,182.00 an amazing mark up for a website never used. Of course, it hasn’t sold for this price, or at all!! Despite Streamline accepting in writing that my package was cancelled and that I had parked my domain for two years only they keep billing me for a website I have not owned since 2010. I have repeatedly complained about their unlawful demands for payment and that they had sold my domain. They still sent me another invoice this year for parking the domain with yet another £24.00 administration charge for not paying the £6 parking fee for 2013 and 2014. They do not understand, or do not want to accept, that I do not own the domain. I have received all sorts of threats about debt collectors calling to collect the alleged debts. I reminded them that they would need a County Court Order before any debt collector could lawfully call on me at my home. I would call the Police and have them removed for harassment if they tried such a tactic without a Court Order. I told them that no Court would issue proceedings against individuals unless the claim had also been served on the individual, who has a right to defend such a claim. I was fortunate because I closed my previous email address and my credit card had expired by 2010. I did not update my new card details with this company because I was no longer a customer. This company is obviously desperate for funding and are using practises which breach Regulations which protects consumers. There are plenty of decent website hosting companies to choose from. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL. The staff I have unfortunately had to deal with are completely thick. This website does not permit links to other websites. However, further help can be obtained from Citizens advice online and if you search for Citizens advice you need to go to the advice guide where you will find a wealth of information to help you. Help can also be found at the Government website which contains details about competition/consumer protection. Trading Standards website also have information about rogue traders and what you can do about the sort of tactics and practises used by company such as this.
Final demand for non payment- threats abound- unprofessional
Okay, so it's my bad for not paying an outstanding bill but hey, it's webhosting right? If you don't pay for your hosting, you get cut off... Wrong- at least with streamline.net. Unlike other hosting providers, streamline will continue your website- even though you may no longer want it! Rather than disconnecting it, they'll send you a red enforcement letter, demanding payment- or they sell your debt and damage your credit rateing- that's right, a letter demanding payment... Other hosting providers don't do this, they simply disconnect your site. 123-reg don't do this. Neither do Webfusion- or one&one. So why oh why should I get a nasty letter from this company? Oh I paid up, but now I want reimbursing- as for the worry and stress they've caused me- they scared me silly and I don't want anything to do with them.
Don't touch with a barge pole
They threaten you with debt collection if you do not renew. The worst host I have ever encountered.
HEADLESS CHICKENS
Headless chickens in the context that the minions employed by this business to deal with problems scrat about in the sand whilst no head of department ( assuminig any exist ) will speak to its customers. Alleged Customer services seem to be run by a few faceless individuals who obejctiive in life is to piss off its clients. Avoid at all costs.
Shocking and not making my daily settlement
I have had several large charge backs recently, we have a fairly high turnover. Streamline have claimed the money back from me but are now not making my daily settlement, they have stated that they can hold this for up to 120 days, this has been going on for two weeks now, £16,000 worth of sales, I have not been paid for and this will be going up every day and will have a major impact on my cashflow, I will have problems paying the wages tomorrow. Refunds which we have made during this period have not been passed back to my customers either.
agree with all the previous reviews. AVOID
Can't cancel services. Locked in for 3 years. Stealth fines for minor problems (eg being late with trustwave compliance. Semi-hidden charges. Terminal works intermittently. Terminal upgrades difficult, faulty supervisor card. VERY BAD service all round.
Absolutely the worst excuse for a hosting company anywhere on earth
What can I say, I sit here (once again) waiting for a scripted and useless support ticket system (hosted offshore) to help me do absolutely nothing.
Streamline.net have provided since day nothing short of the absolute worst service & performance I could have possibly ever considered - and they then went one step further.
The shared MySQL databases are horrendous - we're talking around 6 - 10 seconds for a standard fresh Wordpress site to show up and from their 'control panel' (which is a joke - the only thing you can do on it is spend more money) you can't really change or access anything.
I tried to add an SSL cert to my site - they said I can't do my own and I need to buy through them (at £25) for a shared SSL that doesn't secure my site but instead gives me access to a 'shared' secure folder? Absolutely useless.
My uptime over the last 4 months has been measured as only 85%, the servers are slow and over loaded, the support is non-existent, the features are limited, the cost is ridiculous...
When we had problems with their MySQL databases (which were far too busy to handle the traffic) they suggested moving everything across to a new MySQL Database - handy when you have 10 sites running multiple Wordpress installs and thousands of tables!
Literally every time I think they can't get worse they manage it. An absolute shambles.
It's too late for me, but honestly - save yourself. Don't get tied into their contract which (you'll see from other reviews here) is absolutely impossible to get out of.
Don't go near them - even with a 25ft bargepool mounted to a crane boom - stay well away or you and your business website will regret it for ever.
Took money off me in June for chargebacks, Not getting back til April!
Absoloutely terrible, Unhelpful and rude on every occasion i've spoken to a member of staff, Unwilling to help, Keep changing their story about the money that they owe me, and are trying to charge me more than £500 and i didn't have an account for more than a week! if I could give zero believe me I would've done, STEER CLEAR OF THIS UNHELPFUL UNPROFFESIONAL COMPANY
Legal trap
As stated by other reviewers, this company will make a legal dispute out of your account the minute you decide you no longer need their services. This is a classic case of using debt collectors to bully their customers for a ridiculous amount of money that would still be substantially cheaper than defending a legal case.
Streamline.net WILL NOT give you the option of cancelling your services
Streamline.net WILL NOT help you regain access to your account in order to see what's going on in your account
Streamline.net WILL NOT send you a bill
Streamline.net WILL send your case to debt collectors in spite of keeping your from using the service they claim to provide
Streamline.net WILL continue to claim that they are providing a service and charge you, even if you inform them that you wish to cancel your account
The payment option appears to be pay-forward, whereby if you don't pay, the service gets cancelled. THIS IS NOT THE CASE - Streamline.net will force your account into continuing, and block you from making changes or cancelling the account.
This company is very obviously nothing but a legal trap. I cannot recommend getting involved with Streamline.net in any kind of way. This is a case where representative action would be appropriate.
Certainly incompetent, maybe crooked
Avoid Streamline.net. They created an account that I could not log into or cancel, then automatically renewed it, sent me a bill, and set their lawyers on me. Their service is appalling - just a string of mistakes, lousy service and poor communication.
Stubborn, difficult and would rather use a debt collector than sort out the problem!!
So, SO bad for customer service. We had a club website and the web guy left and 6 years later the account ran out. We received a letter saying money was overdrawn on the account so we went to pay it off and renew the subscription but because we didn't have the details we couldn't. Spent 6 months calling them trying to sort it out but we never could actually pay it off because they were being ridiculously stubborn after we gave ample proof that it was our account, through the university.
So then they send DEBT COLLECTORS to get the owed money despite the fact that they REFUSED to allow us to repay it!!!!!
NEVER use this company. They will screw you over just because they can.
APPALLING COMPANY, USE 123-REG.CO.UK INSTEAD
These punks are really the bottom of the barrel..I use to use them a few years back and they were ok, but recently they have become so rude and incompetent that I am immediately moving all my business to 123reg...The streamline Webmail is the biggest joke, it doesn't even work properly, and does not support Chrome, you know that browser that is no1 right now....losers
Avoid at ALL costs
Streamline are useless, plenty of of down time, not so much up time!
They also never get back to me via support tickets!!!!!
I would not recommend them, in fact I would advise others to avoid them.
I hope people read my review, just google "streamline refund" and you'll see all of the issues.
Terrible and Not Recommended
I joined streamline.net on a trial basis, I had to put my card details in, but expected to be informed that I would be charged for an automatic 2 year subscription. I was away on holiday when the funds were taken, so as soon as I got back I decided to make the call and try to get the money back.
I got put through to a call centre, where English was NOT their first language, the person on the telephone informed me that a full refund would be made. This did not happen, I received a reply via a support ticket telling me that I will not receive a refund but they can cancel my account, so I said that's pointless and I do not want to waste the money so leave it. I tried and tried numerous times to get my money back to no avail.
Now two years later after forgetting that I had subscribed back then I have been charged YET again. I personally work in a role with customer accounts and we MAKE NOTES on their accounts whenever they call, so if streamline who as a hosting company should have the resources to have this available, should have notes to say I DO NOT WANT THE HOSTING. Anyone with half a brain would think to inform me of the upgrade coming up, but that didn't happen.
I've now spoken to them over the phone after having my support ticket ignored, and they have informed me "yes we do have a note on your order that in 2010 your requested to cancel"
Still no reply, so I have resent my support ticket, I don't know what else I can do? I've lost another £200.00 to this company. I seriously hope I get my money back. I will be speaking with trading standards about this, as they are not providing the customer support I'm apparently paying for.
Good
I use streamline to host my company website and have found it very reliable, the site building sorftware is very user friendly enabeling even a novice like myself to produce a very profesional looking site.
Awful service, hosting and support
A terrible provider who provide little help when things go wrong.
1, wouldn't correct IIS errors and would suggest it's a problem with the site (when clearly not)
2, wouldn't respond to tickets when sites go down until they're up (or mysteriously reappear) and deny any downtime
3, would disable paid for addons randomly
4, very very difficult to cancel an account with - will not respond to cancellation ticket requests
Awful!
Awful customer support, they dont understand English or care... I wont waste my time with the rest of this review other to say that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE should ANYONE use them!
Utterly Disgraceful!
VERY BAD TECH SUPPORT
SPAMMED like crazy - had tons of bouncebacks to our addresses - Tech Support had NO idea & couldn't even understand the problem. We have 20+ domains with this lot - would NEVER use them again - the one time we needed help - they were useless! going to transfer our domains away from them! I've also sent this to press@streamline.net
