Warwick castle prices a premier inn experience

Paid 400 for one night, we stayed in room 350 whilst it was a clean room room it was nothing short of a premier inn with a shield on the wall. The food was absolutely terrible in the cafe / restaurant it’s £25.00 for an adult and the only food on offer was a poor carvery with only gammon and chicken legs on offer along with soggy stuffing and potatoes , leading in to sausage, beans and chips. We had a broken high chair, and we waited 15 minutes for someone to get us a cup for the refillable station. No ketchup for the kids had to ask someone to put it out. The breakfast was even worse, very poor quality food and no fresh juices (they did have hydration juice?! Is this a cheaper version to freshly squeezed orange / apple juice because it taste awful). We were then starving and found a hot dog stall by the glamping tents, after standing there for 15minutes with no acknowledgment from the one guy there who was clearly behind on some orders I walked off, very rude. Zog land is not fit for purpose this should be an under 5 park at most with a capacity of no more than 50 children. There needs to be a separate park for older children that can hold more. We also waited 20 minutes at the zog park to buy an ice cream. I seen a number of people struggle with accessibility on site. The only good part of the stay was watching the dragon slayer show, this was 10/10. Overall our trip cost around 600 for two adults and 1 under 2 and a 5 year old

Had the best day out at Warwick Castle.

Had the best day out at Warwick Castle.
Parking easy and nice walk or short bus ride up to castle.
All staff were helpful and cheerful.
The castle itself is amazing with all the different rooms showing it’s life through different eras - really well done.
Views from the top are stunning, as are the grounds.
Dungeon experience was fun and scary.
The best things I thought were the jousting and falconry/birds of prey. Absolutely brilliant. What struck me was how all the horses and birds were so happy and healthy and looked magnificent.
Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Money making scheme at it's best

Money making scheme at it's best! On top of the entrance fee it's £7 to park, £6 for 'jousting' which involves hitting a sword at a piece of metal post & £6 for archery. All these should be free! I wouldn't bother and go somewhere else!

Parking should be included expensive day out

We visited this weekend with hotel and stay cost £169.00 for two people hotel not on castle site but one from their website. Hotel was lovley. I was very suprised that you have to pay £7.00 to park your car and felt i was being ripped off. Also additional £8.00 to go in the dungeon. £4.00 for an ice cream. Not saying we haven't had a good trip but do feel they need to scrap the parking charges at least. The castle is impressive the bird show was amazing the jousting was good but overcrowded. Standing the whole show and having to get there well before show start to get a place where you can see is very exhausting.

Go somewhere else.

An exercise in price gouging aimed particularly at those with little kids, this is what happens when you allow one of our most prestigious historical sites be suborned to commercial greed. I get that these places have massive overheads, but you can turn a coin without ruining the experience. English Heritage and the NT - the two organisations that should be in charge of this - manage it well enough. That it fails utterly as a historical site needs no further mention, but even as a commercial exercise it beggars belief. Tired exhibits, tatty costumes and third-rate interactive experiences leave you feeling ripped off. I'm sure the add-on experiences - falconry, jousting etc - are
fine, but be prepared to dig deep. We came for the day and exhausted the whole thing in less than two hours. For a standard day visit for a family of four you will be knocking the biggest hole in £200. One additional point: scanning these reviews there are a number of complaints about the £6 car parking fee. Merlin have taken note. It's now £7. My advice? Take the family to a local NT/EH-run monument, then buy fish and chips and as much ice cream as you can eat on the way home. Way more fun.

Disappointed

Event on 19th July bands great
But paying an extra 140 pounds vip so my son would have a better view just so all general admission pile in very disappointing. He could hardly see with people pushing and shoving not controlled well . I emailed the day after and had an auto response to say within 3 days they will get back to me that was over two weeks ago. Very disappointed and surprised at warwick castle just to ignore these complaints and mine is not the only one

History meets entertainment

We booked a night in the ceasars tower and slept in the peacock suit. The service we received before arrival until we left was impeccable. The room was just amazing, very well decorated and clean. we are huge medieval fans, therefore a night in the castle was just perfect. We had special access to the castle in the evening, had a very good concierge service throughout, excellent breakfast in the library and a private tour around the castle, excellent afternoon tea in the conservatory. So the booking comes with a lot activities and the whole staff makes you feel very special. Everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly, which was definitely a honest friendliness. The 3 concierge girls were absolute stars and Andrew the history tour guide was so passionate about the castles history, which made the tour exciting and fun. The shows are great, the grounds offer amazing views. For everyone that thinks the prices are high, remember the money is going to all the incredible staff and the upkeep of this historic place. It's a perfect mix of entertainment and history. We would always come back again.

Visited for a concert the weekend of…

Visited for a concert the weekend of 21st July. Didn't post any timings for the day, we just had to guess on what had been happening on previous days. Contacted them via email and via X and didn't get any response. People were packed into the field with a shoehorn, no way i could have left my Autistic son to go and get some food or i'd never have found him again! Also tried to contact them since coming home about something and the autoreply says they'll be in touch within 3 days, 8 days later nothing. no thanks, not for me.

14 day cooling off

We bought an annual pass but then decided to change our minds. Warwick Castle denied that this is possible and claimed that the statutory right to cancel within 14 days is over ridden by it's terms and conditions (obviously it isn't). One has to assume that they are deliberately breaking the law as there is zero chance they aren't aware of this at a corporate level. Customer service has bad attitude and continually denies existence of 14 day cooling off period law.

Attended JLS concert on Friday here, very disappointed you couldn't bring your own food or soft drinks in, had to pay food van and bar prices which were way overpriced, shoud have been more reasonable providing how many people there were, wasn't happy to be honest, very unlikely I will be visiting again

Poor disabled parking and access

Poor disabled parking and access, had to push wheelchair/rollator form Knights Lodge are to castle entrance (20 mins) overpriced food in Knights Lodge restaurant and poor quality (Racehorse pub opposite food excellent at half the price)

Staff excellent only too willing to help and very friendly, shows when available were excellent and very enjoyable

Only managed 3 hours due to poor weather and saw only Jousting and Falcons, then back to lodge as no rain cover
Nothing to do after 8pm with no bar or in door facilities, If Raining not worth visiting as no where to give shelter for number of customers

Would not recommend or return - very very expensive

Overall it was good

We had a lovely time at Warwick Castle. They Castle is very impressive. The summer activities such as the jousting and bird display were brilliant and our children really enjoyed them. We didnt get to do archery as the times were the same as the jousting and bird display which was annoying. The one negative is one of guides doing a tour pushed us out of one of the rooms in the castle and was very rude. The playground was lovely. It was disappointing that you have to pay onto for dungeons and archery on top. We stayed in one of the Woodland Lodges on site. The lodge itself was lovely and very clean. We decided not to eat in the restaurant onside as the reviews are awful. It looked like there was wasn't much choice especially for children and was very very expensive.

Felt very commercialised

Felt very commercialised. £7 to park in a field on top of the entry price. Cafes on site very expensive and poor quality food. £4 for a tea in a paper cup. In the house we were bullied into having our photo taken and then they tried to sell us it for £13. Signage and timings almost non-existent - left to figure it out for ourselves. Jousting show was free & the only bit worth visiting for. All shuts at 4pm, so makes a short, expensive day if you’re travelling from a distance. Pretty disappointed.

Spectacular!

OH. MY. WOW! We had THE best day! I'm not sure what I expected but it surpassed completely.
We did the maze first, kids loved getting all the stamps and checking out all the gadgets and things in between- the selfie spot was a cute touch too!
Then into the dungeon- INCREDIBLE! Every actor played their role amazingly well and the special effects were crazy good- no spoilers 😅
Then we watched the falconry display- another wow! (Except for all the selfish people that stood in front of the crowds sitting down) We loved watching the beautiful birds.
After that was the war of the roses- spectacular! The story telling was exciting and the show was top class.
In between all the other bits we managed to visit Zog's playground, try archery and go on a trail around the castle, taking in some astonishing views.
We really had such a fun filled day- we will definitely do it again.
Thank you to all of the lovely staff that really made it such a special day!

Reasonable value the hospitality/cafes need improving

Overall, the day at Warwick Castle was let down by the basics of hospitality and comfort not being fulfilled to a good standard. We turned up late morning with pre-booked tickets. There was a short queue to get in as bags were being searched; however, after queuing, the lad checked our bags and basically ran his hands over his partner's handbag, he didn't even look inside thankfully it wasn't raining at this point as the search wasn't even carried out that we waited for. No guidance was given by any staff and no signs once we got through the entrance bit. We ended up in the Zog playground, turned around, headed back, and eventually got given a map and pointed to wooden stand with a Zog-themed trail leaflet. Since this was a big part of the day for our child more direction was required. Overall, the walk to the castle was fine. The outside areas are very clean and tidy, but as it was a day where there was quite a breeze and some scattered drizzle showers, some sheltered areas would have been nice. We looked around for a bit and decided to go to the Undercourt Cage. A hugely disappointing cafe that is not set up well. WE had to queue down some stairs into a cramped room where the tills and fridges are. Due to this, I didn't really have time to look properly at the selections on offer. The cafe layout isn't suited to busy crowds. I ordered food and drinks. I'm a bit disappointed that some coffees are hand-made while others are machine-made, but you pay the same price. There is a massive difference between machine-made coffee and hand-tamped or hand-made coffee. Thankfully there are small independant coffee stands located around the castle gardens. I had to wait for the two paninis to be grilled, but because the cafe is so cramped, standing nearby waiting for staff to bring them out just means everyone is bumping into each other. Both paninis came out at different times 3 minutes between each. The seating area in the Undercourt cafe was freezing even in April, so we had to eat our brunch/early lunch with coats on. Surely you could install some heating down there or keep the doors shut. The rest of the day was pleasant enough. Nice walk around the castle, jail, shops, and other outdoor areas. We did enjoy the birds of pray on show, and the princess-related story was fun for our 4-year-old. The maze and Zog themed activities were entertaining enough for a 4 year old. It was a shame we had to queue every time we needed the toilet, but they were very clean and tidy, which is a bonus. Might come back in the summer to experience Warwick on a warmer day but I'll probably not use the hospitality on offer all of the shops sell pretty much the same stuff as well. Reasonable value for money I guess, the staff we did encounter were actually very helpful and friendly which is nice.

Most disappointing

I visited Warwick Castle yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the hall but sadly disappointed by the lack of signage outside, the lack of information inside, the fact that there were no maps or information guides available, there was no staff or guides inside, and the high entrance fees did not include another £7 for parking!

The food in the café was very poor quality with very little choice: a pulled pork bun with or without chips, both of which were barley warm, or cakes, all of which were all very expensive. The coffees from the food truck in the grounds were even more expensive and not even as good as those from the café.

It was all far too commercialised and theme park-like. Very expensive and very disappointing.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I am disabled and booked to go to the castle. Upon arrival! We travelled quite far away, there wa no mention at all that the wheel chair lift was out of order. We were through two ticket check points. When we got to the entrance of the castle we saw the sign. We went back to the ticket desk they said oh we will give you your car park fee back! What about my tickets. They said here's an email contact them. I did. They said oh it just have been on our website that the lift wasn't operational. I said it wasn't. They said ok we will refund you the money. It should hit your bank about 3-5 working days. 6 weeks later it still hasn't. So I emailed to let them know. I was ignored for 2 weeks. Then I got an email. Thank you Michele. FOR WHAT!!! Get your act together Warwick castle. Disabled people have to tactically plan a visit.
