Absolutely disgusted and livid with…

Absolutely disgusted and livid with Warwick Castle after booking Christmas event. We visited on 10.12.23 which turned out to be a particularly terrible day for weather. We stayed only for a couple of hours because the weather was so bad and we were assured a “ rainy day” pass. We had, however, also booked for the Christmas Light Trail for an additional cost and which would not start until 4:45pm that day. We had travelled for almost 1 and 1/2 hours by car to get there and decided to go home. I contacted the customer services next day via telephone and was told by a nice lady to email and outline our predicament which I did. I received a very short email a week later offering just a standard entry to the Castle for 2024 but not on Bank Holidays ( no mention of the additional cost we incurred) and a ‘no refund’ policy. I responded reluctantly explaining why we would not be prepared to accept the offer and outlined a number of reasons why. We have heard nothing at all from Customer Services for Warwick Castle for over 5 weeks to date. We had to arrange days between my sister in law and I due to various commitments eg. Work shift patterns, family commitments and other reasons and they can’t even be bothered to respond. I am extremely angry….and not because they refuse to re-imburse us, it’s because we were very much looking forward to this day out together after a very stressful year for all the family and they just cannot be decent enough to reply. They have my number and email address ( and my money) I will NEVER want to visit here again….a waste of time, money, badly organised event considering the inclement weather at the time of year and that there were so many young families, and incompetence on their part has left a really bad taste in the mouth. Steer well clear….especially at Christmastime.

A Soggy and Concerning Experience at Warwick Castle

Having visited Warwick Castle multiple times over the years, I must express my deep disappointment at the declining organization of the Halloween event. Having been there during last year's rainy Halloween event, it is evident that the management hasn't taken lessons from the past.

Firstly, the recurring issue of rain, which marred last year's Halloween event, seems to have left no impact on this year's preparations. Visitors were subjected to heavy downpours without the provision of tents or shelters. It was disheartening to see the band performing in the middle, essentially to themselves, as the entire area turned into a muddy quagmire and guests took refuge from the downpour.

The "Glass Coffin" event this year was particularly concerning. Asking guests to wear the same eye band that had evidently been worn by hundreds before us, without any visible sanitization efforts, raises significant hygiene issues. This, coupled with the uncomfortable instruction to hold onto another guest's shoulder instead of the safer rope method used in the past, left me questioning the event's overall planning and concern for guest wellbeing.

Furthermore, long queues under the relentless rain, coupled with repetitive events bearing too much resemblance to last year's, greatly reduced the overall enjoyment and value of the experience.

Warwick Castle, with its rich history and prestige, should be offering events that reflect its stature. This Halloween was a missed opportunity to provide a memorable and positive experience. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback on board for future events.

I visited Warwick Castle this week and have to say it was a delight the highlight was the Falconers Quest it was amazing . Because we were later in the year some of the displays were not available but this display was worth the entrance fee on its own.

Found it to be a theme park did not get enough time to look at photos and read much as you had kids talking load or coming and standing in your way I think they should make just one day a week for adults and it needs more clear signs on were certain places are and to enter and more staff around so you can ask as we did not get to see the peacock garden

Too many visitors using phones to take photos of everything they see.
That should be stopped. The castle used to publish in hard copy a A4 booklet with chapters and photos on the state rooms, great hall etc. Apparently this is no longer published. What a pity, it was excellent. With this, and the ability to sell, taking photos should be prohibited-this is very disconcerting to some visitors.

The entrance ticket checkers did not draw my attention to the pamphlet of the castle's layout.

The signposting in the kingmaker's rooms was non-existent.

Concert within the walls

We watched Kaiser Chiefs, 'within the walls' of Warwick Castle. Spectacular venue for a concert. Unfortunately, despite the very clear stipulation of no umbrellas, the concert was ruined for me by loads of people using umbrellas and completely blocking my view. Even when I asked security teams to ask them to put down the umbrellas, the security team did absolutely nothing and even shrugged. Really disappointing. I won't be attending another event like it because of that poorly managed situation.

Had a reasonable day out for the first day in September outside term time, however, this meant no falconry or jousting . Plus side of this was it was fairly quiet. Lots to see in the castle but refused to pay extra for the dungeon experience. Most disappointed in the car parking . It is a 20 min walk from the car park , you have to pay an extra £6 for this privilege. No signs to tell you that you have to pay at the castle to get a QR code or you will not get out . No clear info on the website regarding this, it’s a nice surprise when you get there. Overall a reasonable day out if you are mobile !!

First time visiting Warwick Castle for me and my daughter. The Falconers Quest was unbelievable, what a stunning display of their beautiful birds of prey. The war of the roses was really enjoyable and thoroughly entertaining. The castle itself and the grounds are stunning, and we didn’t mind all the steps!!
What a fantastic day out, thank you to all at Warwick Castle, can’t wait to return.

Incredible day out - also blue badge info!

Incredible day out! The falconry show was the most amazing birds of prey show we have ever seen. Also the jousting show was pretty impressive!! Just a note - if you have a Blue Badge take advantage of the ‘carer goes free’ and book your tickets before you go. For every blue badge holder they can take a free carer in with them! Saves a lot of money!

Great day out for the family

Took my two young boys as they love history. They thoroughly enjoyed seeing the castle ruins however they struggled to get up the tower and my husband ended up carrying them most of the way! wouldn't recommend going up if you have young children as there are lots of stairs. Overall we had a lovely day out and the good weather helped!

The worst day out for an extortionate…

The worst day out for an extortionate price.

We drove 258 miles to visit Warwick castle as my friend from Canada and her husband wanted to see English castles. Paid for a campsite to stay just outside Warwick so that our visit could be memorable and we had lots of time to spend at the castle. It was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Firstly I was not allowed into the grounds or castle as I have a service dog which they insisted on having proof of her occupation before being admitted. There is no such proof in UK unless the dog is a deaf or blind support dog trained through the deaf or blind dog society. They said I could bring a doctor's note or go home and get one (258 miles I think not). I had to sit in the car in the car park furthest from the castle due to construction work in the closer car parks with no available toilets, refreshments or entertainment for three plus hours while my friends looked around the castle without me. Nothing on the website stated proof would be needed. Rejection of a service dog and it's owner contravenes the Disabled equalities act section 8. Which I will be pursuing a claim.
The next problem was there was nothing throughout the grounds stating that a concert was being held that evening within the castle and grounds. There were crowds of people sitting along every available wall and on grassy areas outside the main gate waiting to go into the concert. Stagings being erected throughout ... In all the areas that people usually like to photograph for their memory books. Many of these areas were then dangerous for parents with children which of course were now unable to view. Every photograph my friends took had some kind of out of character structure within them.
The prices were extortionate at £39 per person with no discounts given for the inconvenience of the works being undertaken that day.
This is no longer a heritage site due to all of the money making add ons that have been made, such as overnight accomodation, cafes, gravel car parks etc. It is however a very good example of how capitalistic greed is destroying all of our ancient monuments throughout UK.
VERY DISAPPOINTED INDEED. If I could give a minus stars review I definitely would.

Annual ticket doesn't mean annual access!

I bought one sliver one gold pass (both are annual tickets) in Oct last year. In Nov, when I wanted to redeem the pass, the website says the code expired. Then I wrote to the helpdesk for at least 3 times but been told to go to the castle ticket office. My question is if the ticket office in Warwick castle can solve the problem, why they don't print the ticket for me in the first instance when I bought the tickets on site!

Hence I haven't used the annual ticket more than once since I bought it last year as every time when I want to book something online the website always asked for the code which I don't have. As a result of this, I can't bring my son to castle during Christmas. Now half of the summer has gone.

I don't know why there is so much hassles to get a valid annual pass after customer paid full amount of money in advance. The castle claims it's annual ticket but actually adds extra hassles to reduce the chances of paying customer going to the site! It's not fair to the customer!

I cannot understand the negative reviews
Parking is £6 per day and with a bit of gumption you can aquire tickets at a reasonable price 2for1 on cereal boxes company called piqnic etc you just need to put the time in
No bad language on the dungeon experience at all - over 10s only and accompanied by an adult
Dont be put off by other reviews go and have a brilliant day out

The negative reviews sum this place up

Warwick Castle: an important piece of English history prostituted in the name of greed and profit.
Castles should be government owned as they are an integral part of our heritage.
Website says 'All day entry £26.00', Booking is £32+, the website states 'From £43 to stay overnight',Booking starts at £645.
I queried this and included their web address, they say they can't find the relevant website; I replied with THEIR website address again, no reply.
Now they say the £26.00 is the Christmas ticket cost; nothing saying that and it is July?
The age of banditry has evolved, not disappeared.

Needs more information on times ofshows

The falconry was fantastic never seen one as skilled as that. The jousting was another brilliant show with the finale of the display riders was something else. Down side of visit was told to use app on phone for information about shows but no Wi-Fi on site. No times being published anywhere of times of shows once you are inside the grounds, the leaflet given at entrance tells what’s on but no times. Intresting visit but need more information to help enjoy all that is offered.

All this place needs now is a rollercoaster. Warwick castle is a major part of English history, the king maker experience wasn't good enough or big enough . Having paid over £60 entrance for two adults and £6 parking then was going to be charged £10 each to go look round the dungeons, total rip off, it's ok for kids but if you're interested in English history it's the Merlin entertainment version

Welcome to rip-off Castle

The Castle entrance fees used to be structured, with child and concessions tickets cheaper. Now all over 3 are charged each over £30. Taking my wife and my son's family cost around £200 AND they charged another £12 for parking 2 cars, and mote to enter the dungeons and the Priness's tower. The bird display was great and food not too expensive, but no trebuchet and no jousting. And it shut at 4.00 pm, so we didn't get to see everything that was open. It has become a rip-off moneymaking machine and not worth it. Poor value for money.
