Air Canada worse customer service worldwide

Air Canada canceled my flight and then seemingly canceled customer service along with it. No timely rebooking, no useful communication, and plenty of finger-pointing instead of solutions.

For a “full-service” airline, the experience felt remarkably DIY. If you enjoy paying premium prices to arrange your own way home, this might be the airline for you. Otherwise, fly literally anyone else.

Air Canada canceled my flight and then seemingly canceled customer service along with it. No timely rebooking, no useful communication, and plenty of finger-pointing instead of solutions.

For a “full-service” airline, the experience felt remarkably DIY. If you enjoy paying premium prices to arrange your own way home, this might be the airline for you. Otherwise, fly literally anyone else.

Cost us $5000 due to their service

Delayed my morning international flight because “we need to source a stand by aircraft for this flight” with a new tentative time of 11pm. That misses our connection flight in LAX to new zealand, literally costing us $5000 dollars. But don’t worry because “we’ve issued you 1 voucher(s) with a value of $15 (per voucher).”

Oh my god. Air Canada you are a joke. I will never fly with you again.

Trip Ruined by Repeated Air Canada Failures

Our journey with Air Canada has been nothing short of disastrous.

Our connecting flight from Ottawa to Toronto (AC471) was delayed, causing us to miss our onward flight to Mexico City.
Instead of a reasonable re-accommodation, we were rebooked from our 8:00 a.m. flight to an 8:00 p.m. departure. That evening, the replacement flight (AC993) was also delayed, resulting in our arrival in Mexico after 3:00 a.m.
(a lost day in Mexico, as we were initially planned to arrive at 12:30 p.m.)

It did not end there. Our baggage was sent to Vancouver instead of Mexico and has now been missing for over three days.
Despite multiple attempts to contact Air Canada, we have received no meaningful assistance — no phone calls, no personal follow-up, only automated messages stating, “We’re still working to return your delayed bag.”

This complete lack of accountability left us spending New Year’s without clothing, toiletries, or essential personal items, effectively destroying what was meant to be a once-a-year holiday.

Worse still, the missing baggage contains expensive professional equipment and prescription medication, creating not only financial loss but serious personal hardship.

Air Canada’s indifference after multiple compounding errors is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. We saw nothing but a failure in operational reliability, customer care, and crisis handling.

Not compensating for a damage luggage.

I can't even rate air Canada if I don't put one star, I can't write this review. I went to Curaçao for my honeymoon. When I arrived and went to pick up my luggage to my surprise I had some sort of oil spilled on my luggage. I bought it last year and only used it for the second time. Because I was in my my honeymoon I could not be bothered but when I got back home I took a picture and filled out the form that Air canada requires you to fill out. Air Canada said that they could only apologies, but that my luggage was not damaged. What my luggage looks filthy. They claim that they have a dirty luggage system. I asked them to show me their policy where it says that. I have gotten no response. Oh, this is funny due to wear and tear they are not responsible but my luggage is not even one year since ibought it. I only used it twice with this trip. Air Canada is the worst Air line they don't give you food on 4.5 hour flight.

Avoid at all cost!!

Took 2 flights, Vancouver to Toronto and Toronto to Dublin. Both flights were delayed due to engine trouble and we had to disembark in Dublin on emergency lighting. Cabin reverted beyond rude and the in flight meals were inedible. We flew out on Lufthansa from Dublin and Frankfurt and both flights were excellent!!!

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever, 19 hour flight delayed no compensation, no help, no nothing. Just lies and people that didn't want to work and help a customer. If I could I would give a 0 star

Humiliating Treatment by Air Canada at Calgary Airport

My recent experience with Air Canada at Calgary Airport on December 2, 2025, was extremely disappointing. Several passengers on the Calgary–Frankfurt flight, including my family, were asked by Air Canada staff (Brenda and Justin) to remove items due to a small weight difference. Unfortunately, we were instructed to do this while sitting on the floor, as no table or proper space was provided to reorganize our belongings. This was humiliating and showed a complete lack of respect for customers.

Air Canada and the Calgary Airport Authority should seriously reflect on how passengers are being treated and ensure that basic dignity and customer service standards are upheld

Got stranded in Cuba due to a strike

Got stranded in Cuba due to a strike . They lied to us about time coming back. During our flight back the plane crew were in a bad mood and very rude. After I got back I had to wait 3 months trying to get money back for the extra week we were stranded and they would not return emails. We will never use air canada again and can not believe the poor customer service

Air Canada makes me pay for their mistake!!

booked via aircanada vacations and confirmation email received with my proper name on it. When i went to check in i noticed they added my midle initial to my first name thus potentially cuasing an issue when checking in. I called after 1.5 hr wait finally had a rep tell me yes i need to change it and the issue was likely due to my aeroplan name being slightly different (Rob instead of Robert) it also removed my aeroplan credit from the booking. I know I entered the information in the correct fields when booking so it is an AriCanada issue however the rep insisted I must correct it an pay a change fee of $50.00!!! for their miskate I have to pay? I did not ageree to this but was forced to pay since it was clost to my take off date. Trying to get a refund by contacting client care as instructed by agent yet their response was to call the same call centre who told me i have to pay. What a joke aircanada is. I have not used them since 2018 when they kept cancelling my flights from Montreal to Toronto without any compenstion not even meal or snack then offered no refund or appologies etc. they were sneaky because they kept booking me on future flight only to cancel so when I complained to Ottawa they likey just looked at one flight and said they were fine in what they did. a 14 hour delay is fine for a location only 4 hours away by car? I hoped they changed but no they have not. On line it appears many people have had this exact issue for years and some say its fine when they check in they edit the name for free but this agent said no they wont and i need to pay now. I would stress never to use Air canada at all.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Me and my buddy Matthew Rife couldn’t receive our boarding pass because YOUR website didn’t let us check in on time… Astonishing business model. Atleast just put in the back of the plane. Fix your business model ASAP!

Amazing crew, staff, services, best safety instructional video ever!

Love!

I accidentally overpacked and the lady at the check in first asked me to remove some of my stuff, but because I overpacked quickly (emergency trip), and suck at packing, once she saw the mess inside, she was like, “ Ok, I’ll let you go!” (Normally you pay an extra fee).

The onboard flight crew is just as equally polite, cordial, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and there ia aomething calming about their presence.

Food is delicious!

And whoever wrote and directed the fly off safety video?
I have never seen a safety instructional video that was actually interesting, but this one is so artfully and interestingly done- It is in a whole different category and deserves prizes!

I will try to find it online!

Consider carefully when booking flights…

Consider carefully when booking flights on Air Canada. We booked through Virgin to fly Melbourne to Vancouver return. Flights Melbourne to Sydney were through Virgin with Air Canada operating the Vancouver leg. Flights Melbourne over was seamless. Not so lucky flying home. My husband and I despite having one booking reference were not allocated seats together and not even close (rows 18 and 43). We missed connection in Sydney due to bad weather in Sydney and Air Canada did not allocate us another flight (despite saying they did) and then all ground staff disappeared so we could get no assistance at all from anyone. Be very wary about booking with Air Canada. We have got an apology from Virgin - silence from Air Canada!

The worst airlines by far

The worst airlines by far! I have never had a smooth or pleasant experience not even once! My trip always starts or ends with a drama! Despite the fact that the ticket is not cheap and not worth what we pay for, staff are rude, angry and far from being flexible or considerate. They overbooked the trip and forced me to give my handbag because there is no space on the aircraft! I had to carry my laptop and insulin and meds in my lap all flight long. Add yo that the fact that I had to pick the hand luggage and go through security again to connect to international flights! Air Canada … how do I describe thee, let me count the ways! You never fail to disappoint me every single trip! If I was to pay for the ticket, I would never choose air Canada/ just being forced as my company cover my business trips!

Still awaiting upgrade refund

We opted for an upgrade when checking in. On arrival at Heathrow the next day our flight to Canada was delayed by 4 hours and our upgrade was cancelled. No apology was made; almost 3 weeks later we still have not received a refund for our upgraded seats. Despite emailing we have not received our money back. We have received Air Canada vouchers as compensation for the delay which are useless as we won’t be Flying with Air Canada in future. Also, the worst food on a flight we’ve ever experienced.
