(3) They have a yard for the dogs to play while waiting for the flight.
(4) Emergency line works. People answer and know what is going on.
(5) They knew the import cargo office and customs office numbers and operating time.
(6) Coordinated the entire puppy move. They arranged all transport (e.g. pickup, airfare), cargo arrangements, veterinary and customs paperwork - perfect!

I highly recommend Airpets for pet transport. They handled my cat’s move from London to Dublin with great care and professionalism during what was a very stressful time.

A special thank you to Ailise, who was kind, reassuring, and professional throughout. She kept me informed every step of the way and even sent photos of my baby, which meant so much to me. I’m incredibly grateful for the care and support shown and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Airpets.

Markau in the UK

Our Cat, Markau, travelled from Doha (Qatar) to Bournemouth (UK). The service provided by Airpets from Heathrow to Bournemouth was perfect.
Everything happened as Amber explained us.
We received updates on timings and process steps regularly and Markau arrived safely home.

Excellent personalised service

Amber helped me through during a difficult time with lots of schedule changes at my end and limited options. I have contacted all the agencies from the gov.uk list and she was the only one keeping in touch and offering advice and suggestions well before departure. All the processes have been streamlined smoothly in the end and my pet got through customs in 2 hours at Heathrow!

Daisy's big holiday in the UK

Sophie at Airpets worked in conjunction with Jetpets in Australia to make my Labrador's trip from Sydney to London and back as seamless as possible. There were constant updates letting me know how she was and a genuine concern for her welfare. I couldn't recommend Airpets any higher.

Relocated from the UK to the UAE

Recently relocated from the UK to the UAE with our dog. Lauren Jameson was fantastic. I give fair warning that there is a LOT of paperwork / admin. This was very stressful and expensive...the dog's "ticket" cost 3 times what my wife and my flights were (combined), but we got there in the end. Many thanks Lauren.

Sophie was fabulous

Sophie was fabulous from beginning to end. I hadn't decided if moving my older cat was the right decision but she shared that they'd moved cats of a similar age in recent times that went well and now here I am on the back of that advice with my 16 year old baby girl purring away! There's so much to focus on moving abroad that having all the cat bits sorted for me was a big relief - Sophie was patient when I took time to respond and I really am just so grateful to the entire team who made this possible.

Excellent support from Sophie…

I was quite anxious about my beloved Tink, who is a blind and also quite anxious, going all the way to Oz and staying in quarantine.

From the first, Sophie gave me first class support, through the vets visits etc.

From Tinks day of departure with Airpets to her leaving quarantine, Sophie sent me regular email updates on how she was doing. I really appreciated this attention to detail and care. It was very reassuring and much needed until we were happily reunited.
I can’t recommend Airpets enough for Tinks safe travels and my peace of mind.

Sophie and the team assisted me and my Pomeranian in travelling to Australia. I cannot express how incredible they are and how smoothly they handled the process. They assisted me at every point throughout the process and gave me ample amounts of support. I had updates whenever I was anxious and my Pomeranian loved the team and arrived to Australia so happy and healthy. Thank you Sophie and Airpets!

Relocation from UK to AUS

We recently relocated to Australia from the UK and used Aipets to support and organise the transfer for our 3 year old Jack-Russell. Sophie was our point of contact and she has been absolutely amazing in arranging it all for us. The planning and information provided by Sophie made it much easier to understand and organise vet appointments and timings to ensure everything was done in time and efficiently. Our dog has safely arrived and settled in her new life and looked well cared for when picked up from Quarantine Facility in Melbourne.

Only down side was that no one could provide us updates during the layover and this was hard to cope with, however we were informed that no news is good news and that’s what it seems like.
Thanks again for making this experience as smooth as it could have been.

Excellent Service and Experience

We used Airpets to move 4 fur babies over to New Zealand. We actually initially were going to use another pet courier that was recommended by they let us down in the worst way possible and we were forced to leave our animals behind in the UK, which was not part of the plan... Airpets basically picked up the pieces and I have to say, did the most exemplary job at sorting everything out so we could at least get our pets released before the end of year downtime.

The whole process of getting our pets over to NZ was a really challenging time for our family, but from the moment I spoke to Lauren, she was so professional and so understanding. The focus was on problem solving and getting the job done in the midst of an impossible situation. She was professional and just dealt with things efficiently. The expertise and knowledge was on point and the communications whilst the animals were going through their vet schedule, was second to none. The photos from the airport and beyond were great and we really felt they were in good hands. I think we had this image of them in cages, lonely and stressed but they had constant cuddles, attention and honestly when they arrived in NZ it was like nothing had happened.

Any information given was clear and we honestly are just so grateful for everything they did. Lauren ensured our family could be complete for Christmas and we would recommend Airpets to anyone spending such a huge amount of money to bring pets over to a country as hard to import animals as NZ/Aus!

Thank you - perfect service!

A massive thank you to Airpets and especially to Ailise for an incredible service, making flying our dogs to America smooth and easy for us. This service was everything we needed to take the stress out of what was a big move for us. Right from the start Ailise was incredible, quickly answering our many (!) questions about the process and crates and explaining things well to us, putting us at ease. The communication throughout was excellent and the photos of the dogs on the day really helped us relax. We loved that it was Ailise who then also supported the dogs before the flight - this is a really great way of working! Dogs, collars, leads and all original paperwork made it to the US seamlessly. Thank you Airpets!

We recently moved two cats from the UK to UAE. From stat to finish Lauren J kept us informed and patiently answered my many questions about the process.
We used their preferred import agent on the UAE side and it was completely seamless.
It's a nerve wracking experience sending animals abroad, but I would definitely recommend Airpets.

I have waited some time before writing…

I have waited some time before writing this review, as the past few months have been extremely difficult. I wanted to share our experience as objectively and clearly as possible in the hope that it may help others make an informed decision.

A few months ago, we began the process of transporting our dog, Eddie, from the UK to Canada. After extensive research, this company appeared to be the only option we could reasonably afford. The booking process itself went smoothly, and up until the day of travel, everything seemed well organised.

Eddie was a large dog, so transporting him by air was our only viable option. We explored alternatives but none were feasible. We also booked his “fit to fly” veterinary appointment through this same company. Eddie was confirmed to be in perfect health, with no underlying conditions.

Unfortunately, serious issues began on the day of departure. My partner arrived at the agreed drop-off location on time, but waited approximately 40 minutes past the required drop-off time before anyone arrived. When staff eventually showed up, they appeared rushed and disorganised. While preparing Eddie’s crate, the handler aggressively cut and forced the mattress into the crate, damaging it and positioning it improperly. The mattress was left folded in a way that clearly compromised Eddie’s comfort. This was never corrected, and Eddie travelled the entire journey this way.

That moment was also the last time Eddie was taken out for toileting. The total journey included approximately 4 hours of check-in time plus a 6.5-hour flight.

Upon arrival in Canada, I was instructed to come for pickup around 50 minutes after landing. I arrived as directed, eager and anxious to see him, only to wait an additional two hours while staff tried to locate his crate. During this time, no one appeared to be attending to him. He was handled as cargo rather than a live animal in need of care.

The pickup location itself was a freezing, noisy warehouse. It was shocking to see that live animals were being held in such conditions.

When I was finally reunited with Eddie, he had defecated all over the crate and was clearly distressed. Eddie had always been exceptionally clean and had never soiled his sleeping area before. This was extremely concerning and indicative of the level of stress he had experienced.

We were also explicitly forbidden from providing any form of medication or even natural calming supplements to ease his travel, which seems unreasonable given the length and stress of the journey.

In the days following his arrival, Eddie was visibly traumatised. He was extremely anxious and reluctant to go outside even to relieve himself.

Six days after arriving in Canada, Eddie collapsed outside our home. I rushed him to the emergency vet immediately. He was hospitalised for several nights and diagnosed with internal bleeding caused by an unknown injury. At this point, we had already paid approximately £3,000 for his transport and, as we had not yet been able to arrange insurance, all veterinary costs were paid out of pocket. These expenses quickly exceeded $13,000 CAD.

After three nights, Eddie was stabilised and discharged, though we were given no clear explanation as to what had caused his condition. We were warned that the bleeding could recur. Over the following two weeks, he remained on heavy medication to manage the condition.

Sadly, his condition deteriorated again. Blood had accumulated around his heart, and euthanasia was suggested. We chose to try once more, hoping it would be his last hospitalisation. We were fortunate to have another three weeks with him, but the bleeding returned again, and we were left with no choice but to let him go.

We lost Eddie just two months after his arrival in Canada. Given his clean bill of health prior to transport and the timing of these events, it is extremely difficult to believe that his transportation played no role in what happened.

If sharing this experience helps even one person reconsider or explore alternative options, then writing this review will have been worthwhile. We are completely devastated and will always wish we had been able to protect him from this experience.

Dear Joanna,

I felt it important to address your concerns privately. Further to our subsequent correspondence, I also felt it important to publicly reply to your review. It’s difficult to convey a tone in writing, so please forgive me if my objectiveness appears insensitive. This reply is shortened to less than 4000 words.

Starting on the day Eddie arrived, given the amount of time that has passed, we’re unable to review CCTV footage to ascertain the reported 40 minute wait. We have staff in the office from 0430 most days. I cannot definitively say what the issue was here. Our subsequent email exchange did not provide any further information.

Regarding the fit to fly document, this document confirms that Eddie appeared in good health at the time of examination with no signs of Rabies or infectious/contagious diseases. A fit to fly does not screen for underlying health conditions. However, the attending vet checked Eddie's breathing and heart and didn’t note anything unusual.

Looking at photos I shared with you showing Eddie in his travel kennel immediately before the flight, the mattress appears to fit the kennel appropriately. If the mattress was originally oversized for the kennel, it would seem logical that staff needed to cut the mattress to fit. Depending on how difficult the mattress was to cut, it may have required some physical effort. We have no record of concerns being raised at the time of preparing the kennel for travel.

I can see your vet suggested a natural sedative. Airlines do not allow pets to be sedated for travel due to the health complications sedatives can cause during flight. As noted on the pre-travel quote, we offer a calming spray to use in the kennel.

I cannot confirm if your partner or our staff walked Eddie before he entered the travel kennel due to the time that has passed. If dogs are boarding with us before travel, our staff will always give them a chance to go to the toilet. Eddie did not board with us.

Most airlines require pets to be tendered for the flight 4 hours prior to departure. The journey from Airpets to check-in is approximately 5 minutes. Check-in for Air Canada takes place at Heathrow Animal Reception Centre. It is operated and staffed by The City of London who are responsible for enforcing animal. Their expert staff did not raise any concerns.

After check-in, unless pets are off-loaded from the aircraft, it’s not possible to release them from the travel kennel to go to the toilet. Airlines will not transport pets if they have pooped in their kennel prior to loading.

I’m sorry to hear of the unexpected wait you faced at the destination warehouse. I’ll pass your feedback on to the airline. To try add some comfort, whilst pets are typically transported as cargo, they travel under a special cargo code called AVI. The AVI code means that pets are the last item loaded on to an aircraft and the first item off-loaded from the aircraft. This is so they can be monitored by ground staff up until shortly before the aircraft doors are closed and can be immediately attended to once the aircraft doors are opened.

During loading, the flight crew will receive a notification that live animals are onboard. Subsequently, the flight crew will ensure that the area live animals are transported in is kept at a suitable temperature. Warehouses are also required to have what is typically referred to as an “AVI Room” where pets can be kept in a suitable environment and offered water.

In summary, with the information to hand, I’m struggling to find a reason why the handling of Eddie or his flight would have contributed to his health issues, especially when the symptoms presented well after travel.

The one finding I can currently take away from this is that we may need to review the pre-travel information we provide customers to better prepare them for what to expect throughout the departure and arrival process.

Sincerely,

Airpets

Painless

Lauren was very professional and liaised with our vet in London and our vet at destination to make the whole process as painless as it possibly can be, and for the dog as well.
