Serious GDPR breach and racially motivated

Prospective buyers beware. I ordered an item that duplicated, and while I eventually secured a full refund after months of constant emailing, this business is highly unsafe.They recently deleted a public response where they explicitly listed another customer's full name, home address, telephone number, and email address. Compounding this severe GDPR breach, their response had clear racial and xenophobic intent, maliciously accusing the customer of posting fake reviews in the Urdu language to target them.I have full photo evidence of this deleted response, alongside the complete email trail proving their awful business practices. Using data given exclusively for a purchase to publicly dox and racially target a reviewer is completely unacceptable. This business has no listed returns address, hangs up the phone on customers, and actively uses intimidation tactics. I am submitting all of my photo and email evidence directly to Citizens Advice, Trading Standards, and reporting this malicious, racially motivated misuse of data to the police.

As I also run a business myself, I understand the value of a reputation;(5stars by the way) if any part of my review were false, a company with over 30 years of history would have actively removed it. The fact that it remains online proves its factual accuracy. Furthermore, please note that I hold complete documentation regarding this transaction, including your communications with third parties. Following our failed transaction, I successfully purchased the identical item on eBay, and I only pursued a refund with you due to your unacceptable customer service. I consider this matter closed, but if you choose to pursue legal action, I am fully prepared to present my evidence to the court.

❌ PREDATORY PRACTICE & UNLAWFUL RETENTION OF FUNDS – AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
​Do not trust Audio Visual World. I placed an order on 26th April, which they promptly cancelled because they were out of stock. Despite my bank confirming the payment of £80.98 went through successfully, this company sent me emails claiming the payment had "expired" and was never processed.
​To make matters worse, while they were holding my money hostage and denying they had it, their sales team emailed me offering a replacement part at nearly double the original price.
​When I provided black-and-white screenshot proof from my bank showing the successful debit, a salesperson named Jodie King simply ignored it and sent me a screenshot of their own internal website dashboard to try and prove the money wasn't taken. They completely refused to do a manual audit of their actual merchant account.
​In the end, they never resolved it. I had to get my bank to initiate a formal dispute to forcibly claw my money back. They are either completely incompetent or intentionally misleading customers to force up-sells. You have been warned.

UPDATE (18/05/2026): The merchant has replied below claiming this is a "fraudulent review" and that I haven't checked my bank statement. This is completely false.

​As of TODAY, 18th May 2026, my bank statement shows the funds have finally returned, but NOT because the merchant refunded me. Because Audio Visual World stubbornly refused to look at their actual merchant statements and insisted they didn't have the money, my bank had to step in. The bank reviewed my black-and-white proof of the successful debit from 26th April, rejected the company's claims, and forcibly clawed back the £80.98 from them via a formal bank dispute.

​Do not let this company gaslight you or call your genuine complaints "fraudulent." They took my money, failed to provide the stock, tried to upsell me a replacement at double the price, and I had to legally strip my funds back through my bank. The bank transaction data doesn't lie; the merchant does.

UPDATE (18/05/2026): MERCHANT CAUGHT LYING IN REAL-TIME
​The merchant has replied below claiming my review is "fraudulent" and that they "only process payments once goods are prepared for dispatch." This is a blatant, provable lie.
​Conveniently, just minutes AFTER I posted this review today (18th May at 17:32), the company finally sent me an automated email officially confirming that Order #1002002 was cancelled and marked "Refunded". >
Why did it suddenly mark as "Refunded" today after weeks of them telling me the transaction never existed and "expired"? Because my bank successfully completed a formal chargeback dispute today, forcing the £80.98 out of Audio Visual World's account and back into mine.
​They didn't process a refund out of the goodness of their hearts; their system was forced to log it because a financial institution found them at fault and clawed the money back. To call a customer "fraudulent" on a public forum while your own automated system is sending emails confirming the cancellation at the exact same hour is embarrassing business conduct. The paper trail doesn't lie. Avoid this company at all costs.
FINAL UPDATE (19/05/2026): As expected, this company has completely ignored my private demands to correct their records and apologize for calling my legitimate complaint a "fraudulent review."
​I now have full black-and-white digital evidence confirming their system registered the cancellation at 17:32 on 18th May—exactly five minutes BEFORE they posted their reply below calling me a liar. They only marked it "Refunded" because my banking institution forcibly clawed my £80.98 back through a successful formal dispute.
​I have compiled a full financial evidence dossier detailing their predatory up-selling tactics and real-time contradictions, which has now been forwarded to Action Fraud and Trading Standards. Do not let this company gaslight you or take your money for out-of-stock items.

The customer has not reviewed his bank statement to verify that the funds have been returned to his account.

We only process payments once the goods are prepared for dispatch. In this instance, an immediate notification was sent to inform the customer that the product had been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

The order was placed by the customer who chose the 28-day delivery service. By the time the customer opted to upgrade the shipping method, the product had sold out due to a clearance sale.
As a gesture of goodwill, we provided a complimentary upgrade to a superior, latest model at no additional cost. However, the customer did not include their email address on the order form, which made communication challenging. Additionally, there are discrepancies with the order, including two different names, a third individual who called, and now a fourth person who has posted a biased review.
They have also criticized our generosity, which has created a challenging situation.

Avoid, awful company to deal with should anything go wrong. Not customer centric!

It's an awful company to deal with, just easier to avoid and go elsewhere even if more expensive. Extremely unfriendly and unclear communication at all stages even before purchase and during shipping. They don't reply to calls or emails when there are issues, such as unclear delayed postage and products I was sent not matching images and dimensions online. Once I started a chargeback process with my bank due to these issues, they refused to engage with it and then started sending threatening emails (debt collection). As the bank had sided with me based on the evidence I submitted and reversed the charge. I couldn't be bothered to fight it further and in fairness I did still have the products they sent (despite the issues) so paid them again, but even that they made difficult! They said the chargeback that I had reversed was not enough and I had to do a direct bank transfer, causing me to need to reverse the chargeback again! I never posted this review I drafted in 2021 and I just came back across it in my notes. But even after years I see they are getting similar complaints so I will include this for others to see. Clearly I was not a perfect customer in this situation, but something about the way they go about doing business should change as they are clearly getting quite a few unsatisfied customers.

Oct 4, 2021 1:16:05 PM Suspected Fraud Customer Notified.

In response to your ludicrous and downright insulting offer of £150 for goods and delivery that equates to £319.92, we cannot see any reason to accept 46% of the value of the invoice. You have no right whatsoever to take a discount off this invoice. We are a long-established business that must pay our suppliers for goods.

You placed the order on Saturday, and you were notified when we dispatched your order. We have included a timeline of updates we sent you (see below). At no point did you refuse our proposed delivery dates. You have mentioned that the order arrived late; however, you failed to notify us of this. Furthermore, if you felt that this was the case, you should not have accepted or signed for the delivery.

You also sent us pictures of the Juice amplifier you received. This is exactly what you ordered, contrary to your claim that you did not receive what you ordered. Without prejudice, this is a clear case of obtaining goods by fraud and deception with no intention to pay.

Bank's verdict:
You won this dispute on Oct 15, 2021. The disputed amount of £319.92 GBP and all dispute fees will be returned to you.

Unjustified review - the facts. The second of two subwoofers was dispatched upon the arrival of stock. Two sets of Focal speakers were delivered with slightly broken seals; Focal communicated that this occurred during transit. However, no damage was found to the actual speakers, which carry a full manufacturer's warranty. The outstanding bass controller is currently out of stock in the UK. The customer was informed and agreed to wait.

They substituted my order with a cheaper product saying “at no extra charge!” No refund offered - just ripping me off. Frankly it’s the closest thing you can get to theft. If you’re after car audio equipment - this is the last place you should shop.

Very poor

I purchased a vehicle interface cable from Audio Visual World. When I attempted installation, the cable was not suitable for my vehicle.
I requested a refund and was directed to their drop-ship supplier, In Car Tec. In Car Tec clearly advised in writing that returns must be sent back to the retailer (Audio Visual World). Despite forwarding this written confirmation, Audio Visual World have repeatedly refused to accept responsibility and insist I return the item to their supplier.
This has now been ongoing for over two months.
Under UK consumer law, my contract is with the retailer, not their supplier. It is the retailer’s responsibility to handle returns and refunds. The continued refusal to resolve this matter has left me with no option but to pursue further action.
Very disappointing experience and poor understanding of basic consumer rights. Avoid.

I see your response to my review. I have been in direct contact with the drop ship supplier you use who have advised me not to send back the item without a returns authorisation that you have not provided. I have explained this to you countless times. Sort yourselves out or I'll see you in court.

Our descriptions and product titles match the manufacturer's specifications, and the vehicle compatibility is also based on those specifications. Not answering my emails

Not answering my emails, while intentionally holding on to my money. That is audio visual world. I purchased a amplifier from them. I paid for fast tracked delivery. I contacted them, they said they had no record of the purchase and said, the order had been cancelled and I had to order it again, I told them I had already reordered it 4 day previously, they then checked and miraculously found the order, they then said it would be packaged that day and sent out to me. I asked how long it would take, they said tomorrow or the next day. I waited nothing couriers send you emails to confirm they have your parcel,again nothing. I sent them an email asking what was going on, they said they were waiting to get the amplifier from phoenix gold and then it would be posted to me, so the next day or the day after delivery was a blatant lie. They also said that because I ordered it, it was phoenix gold policy that I couldn't cancel the order. I contacted the makers of the amplifier and they said that I could cancel the order with audio visual world and get a refund. I was also told that they don't deal directly with audio visual world, but another company who then forward to audio visual world. I have contacted audio visual world it has been around a week they haven't contacted me, and they haven't refund my money. I think they are willfully not returning my messages and hold on to my money. If you don't want to be messed around and aggravated stay clear of this nasty vindictive retailers. As you can see from the other reviews I am far from the first person who has been messed around by these nasty people I received a reply. So to put the complaint straight the purchase was made under my partners name nicola wiseman I managed to contact them by phone on the 12th and I was lied to again. I was told by the person I was speaking to that they couldn't do the refund and I had to wait for them to get around to the many emails they had to go through for refunds before they got to mine, which asks the question, how many returns or complaints they have. At this point I was getting frustrated talking to this person so my partner took over the call, and by some miracle he got the order he said he didn't have an then refunded us. All of this could have be done better if they didn't lie on several occasions and answered to the many calls and emails we sent them.

Don't believe their stock levels. They only respond if you pester them.

I was looking for a bedside alarm clock which had recently been discontinued. I looked around and AVW indicated they had stock remaining. I ordered and paid for Express Shipping (24-48 hours).
It didn't arrive in that time so I contacted them. They responded by saying my order had been raised from "Processing" to "Pending" and later changed it back to "Processing" - no description of what those meant was offered.
After a few more days I checked again and saw the order had disappeared from my account. I emailed them, saying I would start a claim on my credit card if I didn't receive it in 2 days. Only then did they tell me the order was cancelled as they couldn't get stock. They refunded me.

As we have just come out of the Black Friday season, we did not anticipate such high demand. Like anything in life, products are subject to supply and demand. Yeah don’t order anything from these bellend’s, advertised firmware which apparently was compatible with my vehicle, upon finding out it wasn’t compatible they then come across condescending and rude during conversations through email.
Right set of helmets the lot of em and nothing but crooks, no refund issued and basically told it was my fault for ordering the wrong firmware even though they falsely advertised it as compatible with my vehicle. Rip off artists 100% don’t waste your hard earned with rhem

We always advise customers to read the product description, especially when ordering software. We provided exactly what was described. The order was placed on May 31, 2024. This customer has probably used the product and has now changed the vehicle.

Fast, Smooth, and Hassle-Free

I ordered two sets of speakers and was later informed they were out of stock. I was offered better replacements for the same price, which I accepted. Everything was shipped the next day and delivered the day after. Communication was smooth, everything was handled very professionally, and I highly recommend this store.

Called to check stock, guy on the phone was very helpful, also told me if I ordered by a certain I will receive next day which it did. Item was a pioneer 8 inch subwoofer which was packaged very well.

Purchased some speakers from them and paid for 24-48hr delivery, they emailed and said they don’t have stock and would recommend another type of speaker (£30 more expensive) paid that, then when DPD came to deliver them two and a half weeks later they wanted a code which had not been provided so they took the parcel back and had to re deliver once I received the code (which I had to ask for).
Awful experience and customer service would not recommend to anyone.

To be honest, your suppliers arent too keen on how you behave with them.

Because I'd seen your reviews I didn't even come to you first, I tried to resolve my issues myself.

And when i did come to you, i believe you ignored me, threatened me, behaved in a way which .. had you owned a retail business where customer service and appropriate mannerisms are hugely valuable.
you would not survive

so while you're tugging on the few drib drab sales and stringing on for your life buying products for less that are damaged

or because your relationships in general are low quality.. it reflects in your communication and your moral behaviour

AVOID like the plague! If you are happy to be lied to, gaslit, and messed around then this could be the company for you

I did read the reviews but decided to give the benefit of the doubt as I prefer to support smaller businesses and I wasn't in a huge rush for the goods...it was the wrong decision.
I ordered 2 x Sanus speaker stands for Sonos speakers (my order number was #1000012909). I called on Tuesday prior to ordering to confirm if they were in stock and after a minute of checking I was told they were in fact in stock and so an order at that point would have meant my stands would be delivered on or by Friday. Order placed, money went out, confirmation email recieved (although it didn't show up in the account I then set up).
Friday came and by the early evening there was no delivery so I thought I'd just check on the tracking info by calling and was told they were just being loaded onto a vehicle and '24-48' delivery means from the point they send them it takes 24-48 hours (giving them carte blanche to take as long as they need) and the issue was the lack of stock. I pointed out the phone call on Tuesday and it was shrugged off witht he blame going to them being a small business whose online element is just an aspect of the business and so these things take time. In that call I was guaranteed that Monday they would be with me but I assumed then that Tuesday would be more likely.
Tuesday came and no parcel by midday so I emailed and called. They provided me with a tracking number which claimed a successful delivery by Evrit the night prior but that wasn't the case (my Ring cameras are evidence that nothing arrived) so I tried checking the full tracking info and it didn't accept my postcode. I reached out to Evri who kindly called me back and although they couldn't give me the address the tracking number related to, they did confirm it was not my address, not even close.
After many emails and calls back to Audio Visual World, they tried to gaslight me by saying Evri messed up the labels and must have delivered my goods to the wrong place, not being intelligent enough to realise that is not how that works and I now know that they lied to me and gave me someone else's tracking number (which I had asked to clarify several times by email to "Jodie King" and on the phone to a young man). It is worth noting that the way the tracking number was provided was a copied exert from an email, who to? I have no idea as they never sent me any tracking information via email until I had chased a week later.
After pointing out I had seen through their tracking/delivery promise lies they said they'd just send some more out to me (no extra fee), confirming that they never sent my items in the first place. I asked for a full refund and was told to email it accross. My emails, to this point, were replied to with great speed but, all of a sudden, silence. I had been ghosted and wanted my £90 back. So I contacted my bank, explained how shady the company is, that the people associated with it seemingly have no official online presence, that the company associated with their VAT number that leads to a company and probably person called Rajwant Singh was dissolved earlier this year, combined with the awful and likely very true reviews of this company, and they got me my money back within 30 minutes.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS! I cannot stress this enough, these are lying scam artists who may have some genuine products to sell but it is not worth the risk and they will lie to you over and over, pass the blame on to others, and gaslight you to get you off the phone and keep your money.

To anyone from Audio Visual World that read this, you should honestly be ashamed of the way you run whatever 'business' you're running there!

Edit: The label on the parcel is irrelevant as the tracking number associated with my account and therefore my label was not the one given to me. This was either disingenuous or incompetent, maybe a bit of both.
The refund was only issued because I got the fraud team at my bank involved.
Edit 2: After edit 1 I got a call from 'Ray' who I assumed is Rajwant Singh and he was threatening me because I left a fully justified 1 star review due to their terrible service. Any company that calls a customer from a private number to threaten and verbally abuse them should not be in business. He called me a lot of names, swore a considerable amount, and fully crashed out.

This parcel was incorrectly labeled due to the extra volume of parcels that we dispatched on that particular day.
We have had to put a track on the parcel, which had been traced to be delivered to the wrong address. A replacement was offered and declined. So we immediately refunded the customer as requested and closed the matter.

Failed to dispatch on time, wouldn't accept a complaint, rude staff hung up on me. Appalling company, avoid like the plague.

I ordered an item from their website last Wednesday and paid for 24h shipping. By Friday AM it still hadn't been dispatched so I called them. They admitted they hadn't had it in stock but it would be delivered to them and dispatched to me later that day, for delivery on Monday.

It's now the following Tuesday. No sign it's been sent. They've taken payment but my email chasing it up has been ignored and when I try to call I just get the answerphone.

I wanted to support a small company but the service here has been cr*p and I'd have got the product quicker and cheaper from Amazon without being given the runaround.

Edit: incredibly, when I called up (and they finally answered the phone) they just kept telling me I had to email a complaint *even though* I kept pointing out my email had been ignored.

He also admitted it hadn't been sent on Friday, so they were lying when they promised it'd be dispatched then. He said it would go out today instead. He said he would email me a tracking ID but has not done so yet, so this seems doubtful.

The guy refused to put me in touch with a manager, then refused to explain why it was impossible for him to do so, simply repeating "we're an online only company and you have to email" every time I told him it didn't respond to the email.

Eventually he told me it was my fault we were going round in circles(i.e. me asking to make a complaint and him refusing to provide any functioning way to do so) then hung up on me.

Edit 2: even the contact form on the company's website is broken. They sent an automated email saying "There was an error while attempting to deliver your message..." - even though I hadn't emailed that time. I tried once again to phone and yet again that obnoxious man refused to escalate the problem, claiming again it was beyond his "remit", and that he refused even to tell his manager about it. He claimed I made him "sick" and then put the phone down on me again.

Finally, judging by AV World's response to other reviews on TrustPilot they'll likely try to claim this was all my fault. Ask yourself this - would you want to deal with a company that makes you wait ages for your "24 hour delivery" product, insults you and hangs up when you keep trying to register a complaint and never, ever admits it's done something wrong?

Absolutely DISGUSTING business with rude, unhelpful, dishonest, aggressive staff. Avoid at all costs.

Cannot reply to their response but, I ordered it to a taxi rank because that’s my place of work… it’s a 24 hour work place so it’s guaranteed to be dropped off to someone trusted since all the other reviews say they pay for tracking and your company does not provide them. I also order everything else to my workplace as I work through the day and most deliveries happen through the day so I’d rather get my order than miss it.

I check my emails on a regular and when I checked my emails no email came from your company. your call handler said he emailed me saying he had no stock of what I ordered. so first of all you allowed a new customer to purchase a subwoofer knowing full well you had no stock? you emailed me after 7pm on the same day of the phone call… if the delivery address was such a big problem why do big brands accept my orders? or maybe reach out to confirm this is a legit order.

So if my order seemed suspicious why tell me the item I ordered was out of stock? and why not ask me why I’m ordering to a taxi rank? You make excuses to call my review false?

you’re one of the worst rated companies… no actual building to your company and most reviews are 1 star… but the very few good ones convinced me to order..

So in conclusion your company is bullshit, you’re a liar, your staff on the phone is a liar.

don’t put things on your website that you can’t provide.. then lie on the phone and then also reply to my bad review saying it was a dodgy order.

Will make sure people stay away from this shit company.

I dont normally write reviews but from all the negative ones on here i must make a comment about this company, i ordered a pair of hertz sx 165 speakers on the 7th June and received them 5 days later as they promised, a brilliant company to buy from and no hassle, I would recommend them to anybody, i will use this company again in the future.
