CQC ratings need a pinch of salt

CQC ratings on care homes should be taken with a giant pinch of salt. We were present at my mother's care home when the CQC made an unannounced inspection. The Inspector interviewed us. We told her 3 Good Things about the service and 3 Bad Things (including 2 incidents that could have killed Mum). When the CQC report came out, the home was rated Good. It selectively reported our comments - only the Good ones were mentioned.

Completely useless

Completely useless. Sent evidence of being abused and threatened by a CEO of a top London hospital, CQC didn't even respond to me. This is why illegal actions within the NHS are happening, because nobody is regulating them. CQC are just a tax payers loophole. As useful as a chocolate teapot

Corrupt - Assisted Durnford Medical Centre Middleton in Manchester to infringe on my data

I can only echo the bad reviews of the posters on here. The care commissiors and ICB are one of many corrupt medical bodies set up to condone bad practises by GPs.

About a year ago I  made a complaint about how Durnford Medical Centre Manchester. M24 6DL staff had.  balantantly infringed on my data , by sending letters and passing my details to other medical bodies to the address where I resided

Wheb i joined the surgery I explained that I live in a shared accommodation ( with 4 other people)and was not avid to my details sent there . I was assured by their reception at the time that it will not be sent to the address and a note will be msde on my records for communicatiom to be made via email only.

Not long after i began to recieve letters , and even had my medications ( which was opened ) sent.to the address .I made a complaint to the surgery and spoke to a  obtuse practise manager by the name of Stuart Caldwell whose email was nothing but defensive , ingoranf as he tried to gaslight my request . He then went into apologise and said it was an error by hid staff and will make sure it is noted on my file.

A few months later, yet again  letters arrived, this time I got through to the most unprofessional, entitled nasty piece of a work receptionist by the name of Stacy who clearly lacked home trained and basic phone etiqitte . Her idea of professionalism was spenting her time telling me how dislusiional i was and how i had a problem and i should leave the surgery if i was not happy.

A complaint was raised against her , but nothing much was done ,other than a condesecending response from Stuart.

Shortly after my medication was delievered (and was found opened on the share accomodation )from the local pharmacy which i hadnt instructed and when i contacted them , i was told thaton their files it is down as " not to be delievered " and i was told fhat it was instructed by Durnford .

I then made a complaint to the ombudsman , whom approached them , yet they continued . The ombudsman confirmed they had infringed when it came to my data. CARE QUALITY was also contacted.  But even though I received an acknowledgement, nothing was done

. I then contacted the surgery again and again was insultedt by Stacy. Stuart and his manager colleague ingired my calls prior , but conveniently responded when little emtitled unprofessional Stacy( who only got the job because of her blue eyee as she has no idea what a dignified receptionist with strong people skills entails) tried playing the victim (as they do) when I let her have it and give her more than she bargained for ended the call- like a coward she is, with her fake croadile tears)- again as entitled women like her do) to tell me that I have been removed as a patient and have 30 days to find another surgery.

Durnford medical Centre reception staff and manager Stuart, stacy are nothing but unprofessional money hungry bullies that should be penalised by exploiting patients information for financial gajn

I had been chasing ICB to response to my emails , eventually having made multiple calls and emails and eventually oaying a visit to the local hub in Middleron, i recieved ehat i expected . A cover up by ICB, Care commission and PALs- all of cause are one body.

Durnfield practise should be sued and accountability taken for infringment of data. I am so glad i am no longer with them. Coincidently, stuart also is involved in another practise given a bizzare call i had wuth another practise whom i also left

I wouls advise anyone ri say away from this oractise. The only good thing about ut were the doctors .

No Interest in Patient Safety

Despite numerous concerns raised with CQC, never once have they followed anything up. Information given to them during a lengthy phone discussion conveniently 'lost'.

Care Nothing Commision. ( CNC)

Nothing is done about complaints. Just a cosy relationship between all to cover up shocking neglect of the population old and young. Has Ian Trenholm (CQC boss man) apologized personally or just taken his pay package with blood on it and peed off? It's 'I ' Ian Trenholm not 'we'. The buck stopped with you. Is any pay forfeit for not doing your job? Got away with it like everyone else in this disgusting country? Sick of being British.

Traumatised

I now realise, with horror, that the Care Quality Commission exists to cover up crimes commited by our public health institutions. Vulnerable people are not being protected. It sickens me beyond words. This is an immoral institution.

Basically rubbish you make complaints and nothing is done. So who do we have to support us the public when we get dreadful service off the NHS???

Add to this, again nothing done in fact they have given the surgery a good rating when its been voted the worst one in Staffordshire.

UNFIT FOR PURPOSE

I had heard awful things about the CQC (and PHSO) but I had never had to make a report to them myself until recently. To say they are APPALLING is an understatement!
How does this country have SO many services which fail people so fundamentally? The MOST vulnerable people in society RELY on these people?! It beggars belief.
UNFIT FOR PURPOSE doesn't even touch it. The worst part is that the initial people you speak to seem competent which gives you hope! False hope!

In my case the perpetrators let me know the CQC wouldn't be proceeding with investigation. The CQC didn't even have the decency to inform the victim.

You can imagine the gloating communication from the perpetrators knowing they had managed to lie their way out. Who knows how many times.

Truly disgusting and disappointing.

Absolutely sickening and allegedly abusive communications. Concealing crimes committed by the NHS where the preferred option is to attack the victim who is the Mother of a child who was locked up for raising concerns regarding the impact of the risk of impact and collision of vehicles approaching at her property and child
abuse where the alleged perpetrator was a safeguarding officer. No safeguarding for child who was left home alone whilst mother was subjected to degrading and humiliating treatment and child was made to witness....no investigation by any service available

my mother died in a hospital in 2021…

my mother died in a hospital in 2021 because of the incorrect neglectful care of a care home.
i reported this to the CQC this was also backed up by the paramedic team that rushed her to hospital from this disgraceful care home.
without a 2 page explanation of how "not worth its salt" the CQC is they just brushed it under the carpet and made the complaint i put in, difficult to persue.
parliament is supposed to acknowledge complaints about CQC - they are as bad covering each other.
its all just horrific. i lost my mum because of neglect and cruelty and no one cares.
from 2 years ago i have had nothing substantial from them and they have stopped returning correspondance altogether.
that was my mum - my mum.

CQC - not fit for purpose

CQC is a waste of time and space. This useless organisation have conducted audits of Zava Health Bridge and credited them with scores that do not accurately reflect how Zava care for customers. Having contacted the CQC several times they have failed on every level to listen to me or even investigate my complaint. The CQC need a total overhaul as they are not fit for purpose.

only good if you tick boxes

'well led' required improvement back in 2018.Everything else was good so surely my home must be well led. We ticked the boxes and did the extra pointless paperwork that was required but as we've not had another inspection since... we continue to require improvement in this area. Add to this, care reviews just copy pasted and not even relating to our service users and a pharmacy that puts the wrong dose medication in the packets..... for which no one has ever taken real responsibilty and it's a wonder no one has come to harm. I, despite financial concerns am now refusing referrals because I am tired of working with so many incompetent agencies. If I did not care so much for my clients and staff I would have shut the home years ago... I love caring but actually hate running a care home... So sad.

Finally, a change on the horizon

As a Company care director after receiving an apology statement from CQC, no surprise about the media coverage today. My company who has provided a homecare service for more than 30 years were given a rating of requires improvement in 2019, was around care plans, we made lots of improvements and despite trying to keep people safe during the pandemic, CQC returned to reinspect in 2021and gave the RA rating again because our digital system wasn’t fully functioning at that time. We hadn’t had any complaints from the people we support and people were happy with the service they pay for. Fast forward to 2024 and we have not had another inspection so we are stuck with this rating that does not reflect our standards in anyway. Considering the inexperience of the inspector and the massive fee that we pay every year to this so called regulator makes the whole system completely worthless for what benefit it has brought to us, especially possible loss of business because of the rating. Recently questioned about their lack of communication, CQC are apparently experiencing technical issues!! I hope that finally they will be brought to account in their unprofessional conduct and lack of respect for the people they are supposed to support.

Not surprised to hear about the…

Not surprised to hear about the findings in the news today about the CQC not being fit for purpose. Too bad they have already done so much damage. My GP practice, The Old Dispensary was hands down the best practice I have ever been a member of (been a member of 5 in total) but it was shamefully given an inadequate score causing disruption and major upset to the local area not to mention the staff there. I didn't believe the rating to be true. The standard of practice was exemplary. I initially wondered if the CQC had an ulterior motive for destroying a downright fantastic GP service, the truth, it seems may be just simple inadequacy. I for one definitely wouldn't believe a word they say. Would give negative stars if I could.

This article in the guardian says it all. A useless self serving organisation. We are better off with nothing as they have had zero impact on patient safety or improving the quality of care generally. Disgraceful.

This week Ian Trenholm, the boss of CQC, unexpectedly resigned. In a subsequent internal memo leaked to the Health Service Journal, Kate Terroni, who has been named as CQC’s interim chief executive, admitted that it was failing to keep patients safe and losing the confidence of the NHS and of ministers. The memo reportedly said: “The way we work is not working and we are not consistently keeping people who use services safe.”

Utter waste of time

Utter waste of time. Messed me about for 5 months and then claimed my case was time barred. Took it to PHSO (another corrupt quango) and found out not time barred but they wouldn't have had enough time to investigate under statute of limitations......you messed about for 5 months! Very dispassionate and cold. Waste of time and frustrating. PHSO also a total waste of time. They won't challenge the status quo. Jobs for the boys and ex nurses. ABOLISH!!!!!!!

Pointless phoning for advice,

Unfortunately felt my conversation with the Care Inspectorate Scotland was futile. I came off the phone with the distinct feeling that they were ‘cozy’ with the Care Companies management and that everyone BUT the Care Company were at fault 🤷‍♀️. Sadly they seemed more concerned about the Company than my father.

No Fit For Purpose

The CQC inspector for Hampshire & IOW Team 1, failed to investigate a concern that I had raised with the CQC in January regarding a serious incident involving my son, a vulnerable adult who lives in supported living. The incident in question had put my son at grave risk. Instead of carrying out an investigation into the incident which had been covered up by my son's care provider, the inspector has let the provider off the hook, no holding them to account. It smacks of collusion. I am disgusted that this inspector has let my son down and he will continue to be at risk if incidents are not investigated. The inspector strung me along for 3 months, letting me think he was actually going to investigate/ take action. I don't think he ever intended to. The CQC have failed in their duty of care to safeguard my son.
Edition: the inspector since January was telling me he wasn't able to make contact with the care provider management, but then on 5/4 he informs me he had held a meeting with the care provider and the local ICB ( who had closed ranks), where they discussed 'my' concerns. He told me that I could attend a meeting with the care provider & the ICB to discuss my concerns!? He's colluded with both the care provider and the ICB. That is morally bankrupt. Local inspectors can sometimes form 'friendly' relationships with care providers. It's all about people looking out for their own jobs & the service user comes second. Time for a governmental review of the workings of the CQC and ICBs. Shame I can't rate my experience with zero stars.
