I was sceptical at first.…
I was sceptical at first but having tried the free option I bought the Pro version. Success. A 3 Tbyte disk had gone rogue on me causing my Windows 11 system to hang for ages whilst the OS tried to access the disk which it ultimately failed to do.
I used Disk Drill to scan and recover the entire disk to a 6 TByte back up drive and whilst it didn't get everything I got the important stuff including many thousands of photos plus a lot of downloaded software.
Admittedly it took several days to do it but it was worth the wait.
System: Windows 11, Intel i9 processor, 32GB memory, 42 Tb storage.

Recovery Software That Doesn’t Recover
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Disk Drill by CleverFiles. After spending hours running deep scans, the software claimed to have “recovered” my files, but almost all of them were either corrupted, distorted, or completely unusable. Videos were glitchy and unwatchable, and photos were damaged beyond recognition.
What makes this even worse is that I have clear proof of these failed recoveries, including distorted video files and broken images. I shared all of this with their support team. Initially, they said they were “reviewing” the case, which gave me some hope. However, when I followed up and requested a refund, since the software clearly did not work as promised, and they simply hid behind their strict no-refund policy.
It’s incredibly frustrating to pay for a product that doesn’t deliver any real results, provide evidence of that failure, and still be denied a refund. This shows a complete lack of accountability and customer care.
At this point, I’m left with no usable recovered data and no refund. I’m now exploring options with my bank to try and recover my money. And based on my experience, I would not advise anyone to use this software as it does not recover the files as the claim and have a bad customer support.
The soft is not good / can’t recovered…
The soft is not good / can’t recovered and the customer service are telling stories not to refund your money. Don’t trust them. They are crooks. After 3 days still not able to recovery the files .
DO NOT BUY. Lots of corrupt and unusable files.
Wow, I got scammed. Preying on desperate people who promise some kind of data recovery. I should've know better. You'll get SOME of your precious photos or some unnecessary data . Rest of the files are unreadable or corrupted files. Not only do you lose your data your out of the money you spent.
Absolutely saved me
Absolutely saved me! I accidentally deleted all the photos of my friends camera (kinda the cameras fault, it should have never been that easy to delete every photo). I then even took another photo, which apparently was ill advised. Downloaded disk drill once we got home and almost immediately recovered all the photos plus some older ones!!! Amazing software and definitely worth the $140 I had to pay to access the full program and save my friendship. Thanks Diskdrill!
Paid for their upgrade pro version…
Paid for their upgrade pro version -then after spending the _£97.00 finds out it won’t let me fix the disc - I was trying to put 330g onto a brand new 2T drive - disk drill said “ not enough space” ? What? Message support were rubbish too - don’t waste your money
Do not buy - total garbage!
The program doesn’t delivery what is promises, the support isn’t helpful at all, I wasted two days of my life trying to get it to work, but it delivered nothing but broken files and a friction of the original amount of data - DO NOT BUY!
Garbage
This place is a scam and delivers nothing for your money. With a free scan that runs for 20 hours, it can identify all sorts of files and file types that you "used" to have. It even lists a "Star" - partially shaded to fully shaded to blank to indicate the chances of recovery. I had about 85% of these excellent recovery stars. What I got? A recovery lasting 5 hours of piles upon piles of files that were all unopenable and corrupted. If you ask about a refund, they make you go through a pile of hoops, listing all your files, types, and sizes, including adding a data log from Disk Drill's library. This is just a ruse to tell you to visit a couple of places that charge a fee, which apparently know what they are doing.
I will FOREVER sing Disk Drill’s…
I will FOREVER sing Disk Drill’s praises. I had an SD card full of images (I’m a photographer) that was suddenly “unreadable”. Tried all the “troubleshooting” suggestions from SanDisk (brand of SD card in question) and nothing worked. Decided on Disk Drill after reading other photographers’ experiences. It recovered everything I needed (about 1000 images) in less than an hour. Will ALWAYS recommend!
Please avoid!
I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Disk Drill has been very upsetting. I turned to the software after losing important files, hoping it could help.
Unfortunately, Disk Drill Basic couldn’t preview my files at all, which meant I had no real way to know whether recovery was possible. I upgraded to PRO thinking it would solve the issue, but it didn’t recover a single file.
What makes this even more frustrating is that the company refuses refunds, even in cases where the software provides no value because it can’t preview certain file formats in the free version. Losing my files was already painful, but paying a significant amount of money on top of that, with nothing gained, made the whole situation feel even worse.
I genuinely wish the company handled situations like this with more understanding and flexibility. As it stands, I cannot recommend Disk Drill based on my experience.
Spent 12+ hours scanning & searching 3.5 million files
Spent 12+ hours scanning my drive and scouring through 3.5 million(!!!) files of the past 15 years of my life just to find a small handful of ones I was looking for totalling under 300mb. Then at the last final moment, this piece of software pulls the bait and switch and wants me to fork out $140 for the actual data recovery despite being under the impression that data recovery is free if its under 500mb. Manipulative and misleading and a day of my life I lost to this company's exploitative product design.

I bought a premium license and today i downlad it because i need to use it and ate registration i got a message my license is for the old version 5 premium and i have to buy a new license , when i bought the product it stays for full unlimited updates , so a scamm on the customers .Be aware of this company they steal your money only because you bougt less then a year a premium license and they make upgrades and charge you again , big lie about unlimited updates
No refunds
The company behind the product doesn't have refund options:
"6. Refund Policy
6.1. No Refunds. Because of the nature of CleverFiles’s Products, all purchases and sales are FINAL. However, CleverFiles reserves the right to address each refund request on a case-by-case basis and in its sole discretion. If You are seeking a refund because of a Product malfunction, bug, or similar concern, please contact CleverFiles as outlined at the end of this EULA or in the Terms of Service.
..."
So, they refused to do a refund to me.
BTW, the applications is useless for SSD drives.
Dickheads.
Laufwerk unbrauchbar gemacht
This worked just as they said and did
This worked just as they said and did exactly as it said on the tin. You first download the free version (it detected the camera version that took the photo's!), you then check the Preview of all your photos and you can see the filesize and date as well.
Once I was confident that the bulk of my photos were recoverable, I paid.
This is *exactly* the 'scan, verify, recover' process which these vendors should use. I am very happy!
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SOFTWARE!
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SOFTWARE!! I feel like this company is a scam. They know that people who have lost their files are panicking and aren't thinking straight, so when you are told to buy the upgraded version beyond 100MB, you buy it, because you want to recover your lost files. In the meantime nothing has been recovered, but the scan makes it seem like all your files have been recovered. Now that I want a refund, they're telling me that I should have previewed the files before making the purchase, and they have a no refund policy. Why don't they put a warning when you're about to purchase it? Also, when I did the preview afterwards, it did show a number of the videos, and they were playing, yet during the transfer I found empty folders on my second hard disk. This company is a scam! I'm going to dispute my purchase.
Be careful since the column stating…
Be careful since the column stating recovery chances basically has no meaning: you need to be able to see a preview thumbnail (in the free versions) otherwise there is no chance. Asked for a reimbursement since 0 of my files with “high” chances could actually be recovered. They were fast and polite in their response but I couldn’t get any money back.
