I purchased Disk Drill (PRO version) to recover files from my MacBook Pro and external backup drive. While the software promised safe recovery, my experience was far from it.
What went wrong:
After running Disk Drill, parts of my external drive and system became unreadable. Many folders showed up empty, files became “read-only,” and locked me out completely, macOS permissions were corrupted.
I spent hours trying all recommended repairs (Disk Utility, Terminal commands, Recovery mode), but only gained partial access back.
The logs from Disk Drill show the software probed low-level system partitions (/System/Volumes/iSCPreboot, /System/Volumes/Hardware, etc.), something that normal recovery tools shouldn’t do.

Support initially denied Disk Drill could possibly cause damage, but eventually offered a partial refund. Thanks Guys for the token!

What stayed good (if any):
The interface is polished and intuitive.
Their support was responsive, though their initial stance was dismissive.
Recommendation:
I no longer trust Disk Drill. If your drive is healthy and you just lost some files, it might be okay — but if you’re dealing with a fragile or failing drive, I strongly advise against using it. Instead, use recovery tools that work only on disk images, or go to a trusted data recovery service.

Used this to scan my iphone for deleted whatsapp message, it looked like the sender had deleted it too, so that made it difficult. In order to see one 58kb file that may or may not have been the one i wanted, Diskdrill wanted £66.... no way.

My SSD was recognized by every part of the computer (device manager / disk management / cmd / bios) , but Disk Drill destroyed it beyond recognition from all of them except bios; even the program itself does not recognize the drive anymore. Horrible experience, avoid at all costs.

I operate a videography company and my main external drive suddenly failed. It wasn't mounting properly on both Mac desktop and laptop and not appearing within finder.

Stupidly, I hadn't backed up a live project for an important client. I decided to download and use the Diskdrill Pro service for approx £60. A much cheaper alternative to paying for a data recovery service, which would have set us back in region of £600+.

I was able to easily use the Diskdrill interface, and restore all the required data immediately. I don't usually write reviews but felt obliged to give my thanks to this company - their service has been an absolute life saver.

I would recommend this software to anyone in my situation, who's experiencing mounting issues with their drive. This software will save the day for you.

There seem to be a lot of bad reviews on here from people trying to use this software for impossible tasks. If you've deleted your files, you're screwed! I wouldn't pay too much attention to these reviews. This is a legitimate company.

Disk Drill suggested downloading their free version to check if my flash drive data could be recovered. The free version indicated a 97% recovery rate, but required purchasing the Pro version for $95 to proceed. After buying and running the Pro version for two hours, no data was recovered from my flash drive, and the company refused to issue a refund. Disk Drill Pro appears to be a scam.

I wanted to just retrieve the files on the hard drives of a WD Cloud device. The process took hours and returned only partial files (2 2tb drives). I really only wanted to find files that hadn't been deleted, via an external drive reader. Clearly the wrong tool. 70+ dollar waste.

I had only just accidentally deleted 100GB of data. It was too big to go to recycle bin so I used Disk Drill to recover it immediately. It did not recover one file correctly. If you ever find yourself using this software try out the free version which allows 500MB before purchasing. I asked for a refund after following all their steps but to no avail. They quoted their non-refund policy and left it at that. Shocking service. Avoid

Daten zurückholen für Festplatte geht, bei IPhone - entgegen der eigenen Aussage von Disk Drill - nicht.
Programm ist sehr teuer und nutzt meiner Ansicht nach die Verzweiflung der Nutzer.

I had a corrupted folder on my Mac which contained vital files for a project I had been working on. The corruption had resulted in the contents of the folder just disappearing. I tried various ways to restore the folder and files, but with no success. As a last ditched attempt, I tried DiskDrill, which, after a scan of my hard disk, could see the files in the corrupt folder. I have now managed to recover them which has saved me a days work!

Saved all my memories which accidentaly I permanently deleted frol my USB. Thank you!!!!!

Ich habe ausprobiert der Disk Drill Enterprise.
Ich habe mich dolle gefreut, dass das Programm hat mir alle Daten von meiner gelöschten Partition zurückgeholt.
Aber schon im zweitem blick meine Freunde haben sich aufgelöst.
Das Programm holt die Daten nicht strukturiert, sondern wilkurig nach daten Änderung. Zum Beispiel alle Daten mit Änderung „*.cab“ kopiert mit wilkurigen Namen „Find – Nummer – cab“.
Man weiß nicht zu welchem Programm dieser cab gehört.
Bei 480 GB Partition sind das tausende von Dateien.

Nach erstem Enthusiasmus kommt dicke Enttäuschung, weil die alle Daten sind nicht zu gebrauchen.
Die alle auszuprobieren und zuordnen ist unmöglich. Dafür braucht man paar Wochen (wenn überhaupt).
Noch schlimmer ist, wenn man die alle irgendwo speichert, da braucht man paar Tage die alle zu löschen.
Für die Software Firma rate ich Beispiel nähmen zum Beispiel von „EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard“, oder von „Hetman Partition Recovery“
Die machen das schön strukturiert.
Disk Drill ist nicht zu gebrauchen Schade ums Ihre Zeit.

Searching for an app to recover files which were deleted I ran into DiskDrill. The (sponsored) reviews were so positive I decided to try the Free version.
It scanned my SSD 1T HD and came up with non useful results.
The helpdesk was very friendly and fast.
Unfortunately the helpdesk/software couldn't help me out.
The best advice is, back-up as fast as possible and let it be the first thing you do.

This company is an absolute joke and total scammers, DO NOT BUY this product. They embed in their terms and conditions that you should try and use the free version before upgrading it to Pro in order to test the files you want to recover meanwhile hard out marketing and trying to sell you PRO at every step of the way on their website. I lost over 120GB of very important Footage due to my OS glitching out on me, in the desperation i outright bought DiskDrill given that i need to recover over 500Mb of data and thought "surely this will do it" This software absolutely sux, slow, clunky, scans take forever even on an SSD. Contacted customer service and they created all this questions as if i didnt know how to use a freaking computer. When answered they said they have a strict No-Refund policy, so basically bad luck. Typical American scamming tech company, don't waste your money on this BS.

Does not work whatsoever.

It found the files on the drive, like every other app. But could not repair any of the mp4 files on the SD card of my camera. All the files it did put out where unreadable files that seemed the right sizes but could not be openend by any player or program whatsoever.

It's a scam. After deleting my music files by mistake I decided to buy Diskdrill at a really expensive price after reading favourable reviews and what a disappointment.
The first time I ran it on recovery mode it said it would take 10 days for a 14TB hardrive, the files were 10TB and it crashed on day six at 60%.
I patiently ran it again expecting a long wait and it crashed again at exactly 60%.
What a waste of a lot of money, don't buy it's a scam.

I accidentally put a folder of 40 .NEF ( nikon raw ) files in the trash and emptied it. I realized this within a few minutes and hadn't saved anything to the drive. I purchased Disk Drill believing that the fiels could be recovered. It found them and put them on an external drive, and most, not all, are the fiels size I would expect them to be. They have the .NEF extesnions, BUT THEY WON'T OPEN in PS, LR, or Bridge. totally useless software. I think they should give buyers their money back if the product doesn't provide the resolution the user bought it for. When you are in panic mode at the loss of data your willing to risk $100 to get your files back, and with what I did I don't think it was that heavy of a lift. Pretty
frustrated, and feel Ripped Off! trouble is, I didn't have the clarity of mind in the moment of lost files to research better. Youtubers promote it as great, they are wrong! Don Farrall

I purchased Disk Drill Pro in an attempt to recover recently deleted files. Unfortunately, despite following the recovery process and trying multiple scan modes, the software failed to deliver usable results. Most files were corrupted, unnamed, or disorganized beyond recognition.
I consider this a scam, as the software did not function as expected or advertised — and was not able to complete the task I purchased it for.

Total scam, payed 100$ and didnt get my files back, the money as well..

j'avais perdu toutes les données d'une carte sd après avoir essayer de transfert les photos sur mon ordi avec un adaptateur bas de gamme, j'étais obligé de formater la carte sd donc j'ai tenter diskdrill après avoir vue des vidéo sur youtube j'ai pris la formule a 80€ +15€ pour l'avoir a vie je crois et j'ai réussi a récuperer quasiment 95% des photos et vidéos que j'avais. PS : même les photos et vidéo afficher avec une chance de récupération faible sont récupérables si vous avez de la chance. (j'avais 25,7GO et 6607 documents au total) ça a marché pour moi ca ne veux pas dire que ça va marcher pour vous je partage juste mon expérience, bonne chance !
