We purchased the bifold black out dual…

We purchased the bifold black out dual blinds and each day they drop about half an inch or so,I contacted the company and one of the team said this can happen as the weight is on the topand there isnt anythingthey can do so I think we have been badly advised on the product and defeats the object of black out so be very careful buying from this company as they seem to want your money for a bad product

Hi Barry, thank you for your review. It can happen sometimes that the top bar will sit slightly lower than the headrail for the dual control Prestige blinds, and this is due to the weight of the fabric being attached to a moveable bar and not to the fixed headrail (as is the case with the single control Prestige blinds).

Tension can be adjusted but following the instructions supplied with the blinds, and this will help to keep the bar in place.

Customer service was faultless

Customer service was faultless. I needed to change my delivery date and they were fantastic.
The blinds are great .I've had blinds from Dotcom blinds before and can say that the quality is super and the measurements are as ordered. Well done

Slightly see through roller blinds excelllent in every way.

Vertical blind equally well made.

Guidance on sizing produced perfect sizes.

Vertical blind just a tiny bit slightly pinker than rollers, but not in a problem way

Poor quality and appalling customer service

Blind installed correctly as confirmed by company but light coming through on both sides as blind is 4cm shorter than given dimensions which wasn't mentioned prior purchase or anywhere in description. Also thermal efficiency/solar coating doesn't work as it easily gets to 40 degrees temperature on a sunny day (checked with infrared thermometer). You can feel heat standing in front of window. Blind was also supposed to be easy clean but it's impossible to clean it without leaving marks. NOT recommended. Seller just fobbing off offering different much more expensive type of blind to sort out problem. Wasted money and time.

Thank you for your review. Your order was for a standard roller blind in a blackout fabric. The measurements you provided are ‘recess fit’, which means that you have supplied us with the width of the recess, into which the blind will be fitted.

Obviously, the fabric of the blind cannot be this width as once the other parts such as brackets, mechanism and pin end are added on, the blind would be wider than the recess so it wouldn’t fit into that gap.

As such, the fabric will always be smaller than the given width simply because the brackets, mechanism and pin end need to be included and for the whole thing to fit within the recess.

If you’re looking for absolute darkness, a sealed unit such as our Cassette system would be the product of choice, as there is a headbox, side channels and bottom bar.

Blinds didn't fit, they took my money

Blinds didn't fit, sent me a replacement which also didn't fit. They told me the reductions they make from the measurements given and both have been too large compared to what they say, however they claim this is acceptable manufacturing tolerance. Now they are telling me my measurements must be wrong (verified with laser and multiple people). Bottom line is they gave a blind that doesn't fit the measurements provided and they've taken my money.
Ps. I'm already excusing the wrong color furniture sent originally and the terrible qc on the adhesive strips

When it comes to our bifold door blinds, we request the width and drop of the visible glass – from where the rubber gasket ends to where it starts on the other side. We then take the width measurement and deduct 4mm from it. This is so that the headrails fit into the window frame and to account for the rivets at the end of the headrails through which the cord runs.

For your blind with a given width of 844mm, we would make the headrail to a width of 840mm.

We have a general manufacturing tolerance of +/- 1-2mm, meaning that the blinds can on occasion come out up to 2mm wider or smaller than what we planned to cut. This doesn’t make a difference to the overall size as the deductions are greater than any protrusions.

When you got in touch to say that one of your blinds didn’t fit, we remade it for you. It arrived at the correct size, albeit 1mm wider at 841mm, which is within tolerance.

However, when you got in touch at first we remade the blind believing that it may have had a manufacturing error, but since the remake also doesn’t fit, this indicates the measurements supplied aren’t correct, especially since the other 7 blinds on your order fit.

As a result, there is nothing more I can do to help – any new remakes would come out the same size and they still wouldn’t fit.

Long wait for blind and substandard

Long wait for blind when received was faulty material did not match and poor quality, customer services not interested and offered no compensation for inconvenience replacement blind has still not arrived poor service!!!

Remakes of these particular blinds can take a couple of weeks to reach you due to the nature of the product, but it has been dispatched. I have reached out to the courier for an update and I will contact you when I have a response from them.

A great find!

Having had great difficulty finding a stockist for extra wide blinds I was delighted to find dotcom blinds and see the wide range available, especially the right fit guarantee.

The blind arrived exactly when stated, well packaged and with clear easy to follow instructions for fitting. The quality of the fabric is very good and overall really happy with the result. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

Firstly, really good to hear that following "my rant" (your words) and my direct and persistent intervention, DotcomBlinds actually decided that yes, my repeated suggestion to Buzz that DotcomBlinds should probably take the trouble to actually contact their customer and clarify their delivery address worked out well -particularly as Buzz had repeatedly advised me on the phone that DotcomBlinds just deliver to whatever address is on the order and as such aren't in anyway interested in reconfirming that address if that address proves to be wrong (be it an honest mistake by their customer as proved to be the case in this instance or otherwise).

Finally, DotcomBlinds also failed to consider, establish or show any empathy towards the person receiving these unwanted goods namely, me: it would be have been reassuring if DotcomBlinds could have shown some perception of how this looked from my point of view or shown any empathy as to what my situation was as someone who was receiving goods to my personal address which weren't ordered and whether I may in anyway be vulnerable or be someone who is at risk from unwanted callers / deliveries. It showed a complete lack of consideration or empathy.

The blinds fit

The blinds fit, but are a little fiddly to fit. The delivery was quick but I would say the blind is quite expensive for what it is and the quality of it.

I'm glad you're happy with your blinds, although from the order we have under your name, you only ordered chain operated XL roller blinds and not an electric version? With our battery powered electric blinds a charger is supplied as standard, but remotes are sold separately, and this is stated on the product pages.

Cheap and flimsy parts broken in days on over £600 blinds

The chain on the large blind broke the first time I used it. I didn’t pull it hard but clearly the chain was too flimsy for the size of the blind. I’ve only had the two blinds for a few weeks and the small blind did fall when I was putting it up but the plastic turning mechanism broke off and couldn’t be turned. As a result the both blinds are now useless. They cost over £600 and both are now useless. Clearly the mechanism and chains were too cheap and flimsy for the size and weight of the blinds. I have had many blinds in the past but these are by far the most expensive with the cheapest and most flimsy parts. You quoted a replacement cost for the mechanism of £69 which is ridiculous for a substandard piece of plastic. The chain is unrepairable as will snap again as far to flimsy for a 7 ft roller blind

Our XL Premium roller blinds use a larger mechanism than our standard roller blinds and are a smooth and strong mechanism. For the chain to snap on one of these blinds, the issue typically lies with the installation of the blind. If the pin end (the end opposite the mechanism) has the sprung pin fully compressed and the bracket is making contact with the barrel, this will cause it to act like a break and make it hard to operate the blind.

Likewise, if the blind is fitted upside down, as in the bottom of the V-shaped part of the mechanism isn’t facing directly down, this too can make it difficult to operate the blind.

Our warranty covers manufacturing errors and defects, but it doesn’t cover the mechanism being damaged because the blind fell from the window during installation, which is why we directed you to a page where you can purchase a new mechanism.

Our chains are quality metal, single-loop chains that are strong enough for the blind to operate with. However, if excessive strain is placed on the chain it will separate, and this is a child safety feature. Again, the chain will only separate under excessive force, which is typically caused by incorrect installation.

I will reach out to you via email to discuss your installation and to get some new chains sent to you, but we strongly recommend checking that the bracket isn’t fitted too close to the barrel and that the bottom of the v part of the mechanism is facing down to prevent any further issues.

Excellent all round experience

Easy to measure using the online guides. Free fabric samples arrived quickly. Blinds also arrived quickly and were the perfect size. Very good quality - clearly a cut above non-made to measure blinds. Easy to fit with the instructions provided.

Late delivery

Late delivery, no screws provided (sometime they provide and sometime they dont provide). Poor instruction manual. I have ordered two rolling blinds of almost similar dimensions, there was three weeks gap between delivery of each item. Both looks different and have different instruction manual.

Hi Ajai, thank you for your review. I understand your order consisted of two blinds, both with a different lead time, and so they would have been sent seperately. One arrived on time but it does look like the second one was delayed by a few additional days due to delays in the courier network. I can apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Screws are not supplied as standard with our blinds due to the variety of locations and surfaces these blinds can be fitted in. We wouldn't want to supply people with screws and rawl plugs that are not appropriate for the surface they are fitting it to, so we don't supply any screws.
