I applied for a letted property I specifically stated on the online form that I couldn’t attend on Friday for viewing before 12:30pm due to work. 5 days prior to the viewing I received an appointment to attend at 10:30….I phoned a few hours later to rearrange an appointment they stated 1pm and I agreed. I received an email a few hours later to say the colleague couldn’t make so they will push it back to 2pm instead. Okay no problem. The next day I received another email stated their colleague couldn’t make it for 2pm so they would push it back to 3pm. The day of my appointment arrives I knock on the door nobody is there so I phoned the office to be told my appointment was 2:30!! I never received any correspondence stating that time! Eventually Megan turned up. She was professional and friendly and apologetic, but their organisation is a joke I will think twice before applying for JW Wood.

All the team great to deal with, prompt, helpful and good communication. Megan was polite and helpful hosting the viewing. Would recommend!

Megan Cunningham was lovely, friendly, polite and very efficient. She contacted the landlord or our behalf regarding questions we had and we got a reply very quickly.

My experience with this letting agency and the tenancy was extremely disappointing.

I raised serious concerns about my safety, the landlord's conduct, and my treatment during the tenancy. These included an incident where I believe the landlord attempted to enter my home without my permission, unresolved repair issues, and concerns that left me feeling intimidated and unsafe.

During our interactions, I also felt mocked because of my Muslim faith. The landlord scoffed when I said "Wallahi" and appeared to mock me for praying. I also raised concerns about comments relating to my disability, religion, and veteran status. These experiences were deeply upsetting and contributed to a complete breakdown in trust.

When I contacted the letting agency, I expected my concerns to be taken seriously. Instead, I was informed that they had acted on a "tenant-find only" basis and would not investigate, directing me back to the landlord. I also found it disappointing that, despite signing my complaint with my full name, Yusuf Ali Hussein, I was not addressed by my name in their response, which added to my feeling that my concerns were not being treated with appropriate care.

I also want to add that this estate agent appears to have a staff member who has made deeply offensive comments on LinkedIn about an Egyptian man and his Muslim beliefs. I am also concerned about the staff member’s association with a company director who has allegedly made repeated racist comments about Islam.

I believe this behaviour raises serious questions about the standards and values of the people representing this business, and I hope the matter is properly investigated.

This review reflects my personal experience. I hope future tenants are treated with professionalism and respect, regardless of their religion, disability, or background, and that serious concerns are given proper consideration.

Contacted JW Wood Estate Agents Bishop Auckland, regarding selling our home, after a stale period of time on rightmove with another estate agent.
Martyn came to see us and from the moment he walked into our home he made us feel confident that our home was great and that a new marketing strategy was needed.

He came took fresh photos spending time in each room, making sure that each shot showcased our home

Then he arranged for Barbara to visit to familiarise the team with the value of our home. Barbara was so kind and reassuring and has such a warm personality.
Then although not met Amanda in person she has calmed our nerves as she negotiated a sale our home , and her personality also shines and she has a lovely sense of humour, as she made us feel human regarding the emotions we have been feeling!
Elizabeth has also kept the support network going able to answer any questions we have.

We have gone to Sold STC and Im sure that the support we need will remain on the other end of the telephone.

The team are now supporting us to purchase our new forever home

I had a very positive experience with the agency and would be happy to recommend them. In particular, Megan was extremely helpful, professional, and patient throughout the entire rental process. She made sure everything progressed smoothly, ensuring that all required documents were completed correctly and submitted on time by all parties involved. Her support and attention to detail made the whole process much easier and less stressful.

Following my original review, I provided additional evidence including Uber earnings records and bank statements to support the income declared on my application.

The tenancy ultimately did not proceed because the landlord required a successful Goodlord referencing outcome. However, after reviewing the evidence, JWW agreed to refund the holding deposit in full.

The process was frustrating at times, particularly due to delays and conflicting communication regarding the holding deposit. However, I appreciate that the matter was eventually reviewed by management and resolved, and the refund has now been received.

Thank you to Ashley Mitchell for taking the time to review the case and bring it to a conclusion.

The house I was purchasing was in an area where other houses was going cheaper but they hiked the price up with structural issues like severe damp throughout the home,water leaks from chimney breast and crumbling walls all hidden behind wall paper but despite this the asking price was higher than other selling homes similar and had the nerve to agree to me going half on repairs accepted my offer but even then the offer I made was still higher than what the other homes in the area was asking for with lots of work need doing I felt this was wrong in the end the seller refused to lower the price I withdrew due to this issue plus her solicitor didn't answer all the questions from enquiries plus the seller appeared rude when ask a question regarding the property which didn't have insurance and it wasn't registered I felt it was not worth the money even my offer it was overpriced I felt I couldn't trust this estate agent to be honest again in the future I was glad I withdrew my offer as this wouldn't have been a good investment they remarked it for some other gullible person to buy at the same hiked up price if you want to sell a home pricey at least repair it and refurbish it that to me will justify the price hike but to hike up the price more than other homes in the area and leave it in such a state of disrepair is completely taking the biscuit also it's good to note the other homes going as much as £10,000 cheaper was in much better repair I couldn't make this up if I tried it's unbelievable.

Disappointing experience. Took time off work to attend a viewing, only to have the agent discuss a live offer with the seller in front of me during the appointment.
It made for a really awkward and unprofessional situation. While they later acknowledged it could have been handled differently, they ultimately stood by their actions.
Needless to say, I wouldn’t feel confident trusting them to handle a sale or purchase.
Basic discretion during viewings shouldn’t be too much to expect.

I would highly recommend J W Wood - Jonathan was so helpful at the outset and his local knowledge of the market was second to none. The sales team Sarah, Julie and Nicky were friendly, professional and kept us up to date and informed at every step of the way. We are delighted with the service offered and are so pleased we chose the company to manage our sale.

The team here in Bishop Auckland are amazing, they are friendly, understanding and respectful! Questions always answered, and fast at responding if they haven't got the answer they are happy to find out! The team and management always give you time and build good relationships with their clients! I would highly recommend them .. 😊
