I have been waiting for them to deal with my theft claim for nearly 900 days now, they fail to speak with you, they just continue to lie to you, I was with this company for over eight years ugh no fault of my own due to a devastating theft, they just won’t deal with it and pay me

Claims handler immediately started…

Claims handler immediately started talking about settling claim as a 50/50 on first call and then on second call has decided this is what they want to proceed with. They are my insurer but it seemed more like I was calling speaking to the other parties insurance. If you can avoid using this company I would.

Policy Cancellation Nightmare - Lack of Communication and Business Interruption

I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with RSA/NIG regarding the cancellation of my Motor Trade Policy NM006484920. This entire process has been a nightmare, characterized by a severe lack of transparency, internal communication failures, and significant negative impact on my business, Auto Oasis Ltd.

My policy was abruptly cancelled via a letter dated July 16, 2025, citing only "General Condition 5" and stating they "no longer wish to provide cover." This vague explanation has been completely unhelpful.

Since then, I have been in a constant loop of trying to get a clear reason. Their helpdesk initially suggested an unsigned credit agreement was the cause, which I promptly addressed. However, I never received confirmation of this resolution. To make matters worse, my insurance broker, PIB Insurance Brokers Limited, had no knowledge of the specific cancellation reasons, and even RSA's own helpdesk, upon further inquiry, seemed completely unaware of the details. This clearly indicates a major internal communication breakdown within their organization.

Despite the policy being cancelled, payments continue to be debited from my account, and the credit agreement remains active, which is unacceptable.

The most critical issue is that without a clear, documented reason for cancellation and my no-claims bonus information, I am unable to obtain new insurance quotes. This has effectively held my business hostage, causing immense stress and severe business interruption, leading to serious operational and financial issues.

I formally lodged a complaint, and they promised a response within three business days, but this deadline has also passed without any communication.

This experience has been incredibly stressful and damaging. I urge anyone considering RSA/NIG to be aware of their poor communication, lack of clarity, and the potential for significant business disruption if issues arise.

Negative claim to the Insured cost 1000

They should be honest

But keep it for there benefit????
Why are they still allowed to trade.
They ignore replacement values.

Had a claim against me with is non…

Had a claim against me with is non fault. Only talk to you when they feel like it. Got told case was closed and no further action, but then 2 weeks later I'm being asked for my turn of event!!! Hoe can his happen when even third party was 2 weeks passed the deadline?

NIG were amazing

NIG were amazing, they were able to fully support me throughout my claim process and i would highly recommend using them as an insurer for your business property

Lost all my NCB with this lot

Lost all my NCB with this lot, only down to misconduct one of their staff. Its shocking really that i have leave this review after being a customer for a few good years….. avoid Pete Best.

Awful

I would very strongly recommend against taking out an insurance policy with NIG.

For over a week, NIG denied that my policy covered an accident in the EU. They asserted this without even reading the policy (they asked me to send them a copy!)

Customer service is a joke - on call #8 they hung up on me.

Would give a 'zero' if able.

Only Interested in Ripping Off Small Businesses

We have used NIG for our business insurance for our Nail Salon for a number of years, (no claims ever made). However, last year, they introduced a flooding excess of £10k, which has now risen to £25k (Even though the Environment Agency rates the area that our business is located as low-risk. NIG (conveniently) regard the area as high risk!) Furthermore, the premium on our latest renewal proposal shows a 50% increase on last year. Needless to say, we will not be renewing with them.
Interesting to note that their apparent greed coincides with them having been taken over by Royal & Sun Alliance in 2023 - a company that also gets appalling reviews!

Absolutely awful company

Absolutely awful company. Sent the cheque for the settlement to the total loss company, instead of to me. Total loss company emailed them immediately to say it had gone to the wrong place and they would destroy it. They didn’t reissue, or contact me. I’ve had to chase payment myself. Been left without payment, a car and out of pocket as the hire car company recalled the hire car thinking they claim had been settled, despite me not having received a penny. When I finally tracked down the issue after going round in circles, I was assured by email a bacs payment could be made and asked for my bank details. When calling to follow this up (as no reply to my request for a time frame) spoke to an incredibly rude woman on the phone who said “I don’t have to talk to you” and wouldn’t put me through to a manager, saying I had no entitlement to speak to one. I was then hung up on. I still have no money and no resolution. Absolutley disgusting.

Do not accept their tactics to avoid claims and lower paying out. Takes time but fight them. Under consumer duty they have to act in good faith and bring good resoultions to the customers whose risks are accepted by premium charged. Complaint the minute they fall sleep, demand evidence, refer them to Ombudsman and take them to Court. That will take their profit away so they would be less inclined to treat consumers like theives whilst profiting from their true loss.
If you have choice go elsewhere. 15 months from claims an interim offer made converted to full settlement because they do not read well.

My bike had no insurance because I just bought and I put it as sorn, and what happened was my plates was clonned and I received a couple off letters saying my bike was in a bad accident and now I’m apparently supposed to pay them 4/5.5k I feel like this is as scam, not a real company buy what I’m reading in other reviews and etc

I totally agree with every single…

I totally agree with every single comment here. Obviously, the bad ones because this NIG are all but good, trustworthy, deliver what’s promised on their insurance policy….and so on.
Also wasted my time by having to speak to 4 people in 4 different phone numbers and at the end, I had to fill out an online form. What!?!? What’s the point explaining 4x and then write it down? Time wasters and money grabbers only!!
Of course you all know that!! They want to get the story straight hence 4 people asking “what happened?”
They cover only works done by your grandma, if that much. Totally scammers.
I damaged some floor boards in a property and stud wall, but they didn’t care and won’t help myself, my business and my client. Let them call me again next year to renew this policy….. I will tell to go fcuk!!!

Been 18 weeks still nothing AWFUL company.

Their client flooded my house in March 24, and still waiting, no help at all having to chase them, had to get my own quotes, value everything myself. Been ill with mental health due to home being wrecked and they don't care. Awful company one bedroom out of use still and hallway and another bedroom damaged. One member of staff left the company and no notification, called again last week got told I will look at it in the next couple of days and still nothing,.send emails no replies.

They have caused more issues on top of having my house flooded.

18 WEEKS NOW SINCE DAMAGE.

RUINED MY HOME AND DRAGGED IT OUT TOO.

STILL.WAITING FOR COMPENSATION

Staff don't care.

We had a water ingress issue

We had a water ingress issue, where the there claim document says it covers, we have checked with the surveyor and he also works for the insurance company, he clearly mentioned that is should be covered by the insurance company. They have sent there engineer that guy gave completely wrong survey and they dont know how to check the issue, inorder to avoid providing the claim they gave a wrong report and said they will not cover the claim even it shows in the report it covers. Very bad insurance company they only collect money and dont pay. Don't go with them.

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling, total lack of communication, 4 weeks so far to sort a NO FAULT claim where someone reversed into my parked car! They do not care, they dont respond, avoid at all costs! £2k premium down the drain in my opinion. Their "approved garage" quoted £8000 in repairs and wanted to write off - which would have left us £1000 out of pocket as car was on HP. Recovered to our own workshop and only max of £3000 damage. Requested copy of other quote and still not received - very dodgy and wouldnt trust them again. Renewal due next month, guess where I wont be sending my business!
