Opening an account with Oaken has been the most difficult exercise in frustration that I have encountered in my banking history. It took almost 2 weeks of emails and waiting for phone service before it happened. After all that my window of opportunity had closed. I later found out to have my wife as a co-signer on the account she too would have to wait for phone service and fill out numerous forms etc. We once opened an account at the local credit union in 10 minutes and have 500 k invested there. I realise that online banking can be subject to fraud etc., but there has to be a better way. Thanks.

Very responsive, I was able to talk to someone right away. No big voice tree or waiting on hold. They were able to handle my request at first contact.

Your website is average when rated against TD BAnk, CIBC, etc

I have not been able to use a reset password after the initial reset. Even though I called the Oaken Help Desk more than once, I was always told to just reset it again. So I have to reset my password every time I want to log into my account. To improve the Oaken rating please fix this issue. Thank you!

OAKEN STARTED OUT AS A GREAT PLACE TO INVEST BUT EVERY TIME I INVEST MY MONEY YOU DROP THE INTEREST RATE BUT YET YOU KEEP SAYING HOW GREAT THE INTEREST IS WHEN ALMOST ALL YOUR COMPETITORS ARE PAYING HIGHER RATES I.E. TANGERINE 1.7 %, CTC 1.8%, SIMPLII 2.3% AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. I THINK THE LAST NOTIFICATION I GOT YOU WERE DOWN TO 1.4%. I PRESENTLY HAVE MY MONIES WITH SIMPLII UNTIL END OF MARCH 2021 AT 2.3% .

I like the interest rates on savings and GICs.
What is fantastic is that you get notice of rate changes before they happen!!!

Oaken gives very good rates on savings and GICs given the current low rate environment. The online interface works well and transfers between accounts in traditional bricks and mortar banks is smooth. As accounts to $100,000 are fully insured at Oaken, ones savings are secure.

Whenever , I phone, it is answered I get my notices about upcoming renewals on time. Questions are also answered immediately.

Pretty happy with my dealings with Oaken. Don't make a lot of transactions and thus find the online process a bit confusing.
The process in my Investorline accounts at BMO is simpler but their GIC and High Interest Savings account rates are atrocious. I have had to call and ask the Oakne help line a couple of times to clarify how to do the transfer of funds from my BMO bank account. All of my interactions with the Oaken employees have been great. Friendly, knowledgeable people.
