Please can someone head a formal investigation with regards to the recent sexual abuse of Gambian orphans under the care of Penny Appeal to “The Charity Commission in the U.K. “
and demand answers from Penny Appeal as to where all the donations have gone especially considering the Gambian Government has enforced Penny Appeal to return all the orphans to their guardians and closed down all the operations.

This is a legal organisation open to donors to make a formal complaint; a form is available on their website. Please check Charity Commission in the U.K.

A petition signed by donors asking about where their donation has gone to taken by Penny Appeal is the only way to get answers. The petition needs to be organised and submitted to the Charity Commission in the U.K. They are the “police” and undertakers of all registered charities in the U.K.

Penny Appeal have done several projects using donations but we do not know to what extent they have pocketed donations too. Here we are questioning the sexual abuse of orphans under the Hifz Orphans Programme in Gambia which has now been closed by the country’s government. So where are all the donations with regards to this program that Penny Appeal collected as recent as April to July 2020. Penny Appeal should have suspended collection of donations for Gambian Orphans via their website as well as taking donations over the phone.

Allah (swt) does ask to fight corruption in any shape and form. Collectively and legally we can demand answers via the Charity Commission in the U.K.

Let the originator and owner of this page set up a petition and then submit it to the Charity Commission in the U.K. This is the only way to get answers. There were will be a lot of signatures on this petition I promise you.

We are an institution based in Manenberg, Cape Town, South Africa, which is one of the most impoverished communities in South Africa. The unemployment rate in the area exceeds 80%

We operate a no fee primary and high school that offers a high quality education for the children and youth of this community. We also operate a Hafith academy on the same premises.

Our school has benefitted tremendously from your donations. Penny Appeal has been supporting our school for the past 4 years. Alghumdulilaa we now have learners from our school that has become doctors, chartered accountants, educators, IT Specialist, Specialists in Mathematics etc etc. These young adults are now capable of not only upgrading their lives, but also the lives of their families as a whole.

It is only through the Grace of Allah Almighty and your kindness and generosity that the youth of this very challenging community can prosper to the levels it has.

RIZWAN HUSSAIN is a sexual predator and has been involved in every hustle there has ever been. Any charity that will take on this anti-semite who is well-known is very questionable in my opinion. Anyway this guy goes he leaves a massive trail and destruction behind him he has destroyed many men and women lives in the past.

These guys are total con artists, they have hardcore atheists running the British Muslim TV. People I personally know; who I went to university with, who other non muslims would even call snakes. They abuse women sexually and would even try sleeping with other people's partners.

They steal money from the mouths of the poor to live a lavish life of luxury.

I would give 0 stars but can't. Do not support this charity. They do not give 100% of your donations. They have done alot of terrible things and Allah will punish them severely. They have exploited children in Gambia where members of their charity sexually abused children. Not one single apology was given. Boycott them!!!!!!!!

We got told by barrister rizwan Hussain himself that half of the Donations money they receive goes into their pocket. Since then I stopped believing giving them or any other charity money. They’re not trust worthy.

Read the child abuse in Penny Appeals Orphanage in Gambia. Recent article in August 2020 as Penny Appeal again under investigation but this investigation is more than The CEO’s dipping into funds, paying their rogue business partners (Khan brothers are MB Trading) whilst having the Khan brothers family working at Penny Appeal who do nothing, yes Nothing as if anyone did anything these children would be protected.
CEO was suspended Sept 2019 and then in August 2020 it it announced no evidence!!! Now is this because Adeem is friend with the current CEO and friends of the chairperson of the trustees??
During Covid-19 many organisations struggled yet Penny Appeal a charity able to open Director of Operations position paying someone to travel from London and pay for their hotel costs along with Director who also is based in London!!!! Who is paying for the salaries, benefits of the consultants and staff at PENNY APPEAL...,no not the CEO, trustees but general public who make donations such as sponsoring orphans, Qurbani, Wells etc

Me and my sister donated for a water well In my fathers name over fasting and received no correspondence to say it had been received or any acknowledgment. I had to follow up on social media before receiving and email apologising. We do not know if the well has been given in my fathers name or anything. So disappointed will never donate to this charity again!!

I am very disappointed to hear that penny appeal have been misusing funds. For years I have been donating zakat after watching there shows on British Muslim TV - I was convinced 100 percent of my donation would to go to the cause I donated to. I wont be donating in the future as I have lost faith in this charity.

I worked at Penny Appeal part-time for more than a year

Pros

Free food: but even that isn’t good because it’s paid for from charity money. Apart from that there is nothing else good about this company. They like to steal from people claiming it’s going to charity but it really isn’t.

Cons

All management are snobby and disrespectful and walk around like they own the place; which they pretty much do! All management are family or related by some sort, they take it upon themselves to make life hell for all other members of staff who aren’t their family.

Advice to Management

Close this fraud of a charity down! You claim that you donate 100% of Zakat money but in reality you only give 27% and you all take from the charity. Special place in hell for you people.

Worst online charity site. Made donation, got message "there was a problem with payment" even though the bank confirmed transaction. Some minutes later, got a refresh that payment processed, yet no follow up mail. So dont know if the donation went through and will be processed or pocketed? I will assume the latter and just put it down to that I made the niyyah and let the organisation answer to Allah swt.

I made a donation many years ago. I usually opt for one off donations as I like to donate between different charities and also hate being spammed with letters, emails and texts. Unfortunately, Penny Appear has consistently been sending lots of letters leaflets and donation packs to my house. I really wonder how much they are spending on these and it is likely the donation money is being used on marketing. Just like the other reviews on here, I would never trust charities like this unless they have good reviews

They refused to provide financial reports as a proof for my donations also they have never provided me with any receipt for my donations. Please don't trust

Had my well built along with pictures and documents

Sponsored two orphans for 3 years got yearly updates and messages from the kids

Though do agree they pester for money far too much, charity is supposed to be the right hand not knowing what the left hand does

Salem aleykoum everybody. I share some of your concerns. I have been giving to this and other charities.We must remember that ALLAH is witness to everything. He knows our intentions. Our intentions and donations will be acknowledged by the SUPREME.
Woe to those charities who do not fulfill their duties of trust," Amana".Vis a vis ALLAH we have fulfilled our duty to give to the poor. We have entrusted the charities to channel our donations. Yes from now on we have to be choosy, which charity deserves our trust. May ALLAH accept our devotions and intentions and juge the untrustworthy.

i've been giving to this organization for a while, I have full trust and faith in them, its sad to see how quickly some people rush to judge. Thank you

I donated some money a while ago and I asked to opt out of any further correspondence from them. Recently I’ve been inundated with text messages from them and their sister charities (they’ve clearly sold on my data) wanting money from me. I’ve contacted them several times to ask them to remove my details from their databases and they still continue to spam me. I’ve reported them to my mobile network and the ICO

I and my family members have all previously donated to this charity. I was just about to donate again today and thought I would just check the reviews.
Previously after donating I have never received any correspondence from Penny Appeal other than asking for more money.
It is absolutely disgusting if our hard earned money is not reaching the needy.
I always send money overseas to family members as they actually go personally and hand money or provisions over to the most needy.
I also regularly donate in UK as I would like to give something back in the country that I live in.
This has really opened my eyes and I cannot trust any charity in UK.
Best bet if you can, send money overseas to your chosen country and distribute via family.
That’s what I will be doing from now onwards.

Wow it is sad to read all the bad reviews. Honestly I haven’t did my research on this organization but my suggestion is if you know a friend or family member living in a third world country Contact them to give out charity for the poor in your behave Or get in contact with an imam that will do it for you. We all want our money to go in good use and hopefully this is some good way instead of Relying on charity.
