Awful service and a rip off
I had to cancel my car insurance after 34 days and was expecting a pro rata refund, less the £55 cancellation fee stated on their website. After requesting a refund, I was told I was only going to receive £44 from the £250 that I had originally paid. This is unacceptable and I have never dealt with something like this from any other insurance company. Live chat was useless too and pointed me to a document that was only accessible when finding a link to a document within another document.
That's 80% of the whole years premium for 1 months worth of insurance.
Edit: They have now reduced the cancellation fee to £25 but I've still lost 70% of my premium after 1 month.

Extremely Poor Customer Experience
What should have been a simple change of number plate request turned into a thoroughly unpleasant experience culminating in an exceptionally unhelpful live chat agent who didn’t appear to understand my concerns and was more interested in fobbing me off than actually empathising and resolving the issue - all over £10!!
Firstly I called before the phone lines closed on Friday evening and despite being told I was caller number 1 in the queue I gave up holding after 30mins as it was clear as it was then past their closing time nobody was going to answer my call - perhaps understandable but do at least say at 530 whilst on hold the office is now closed so hang up and try during the next available opening time.
I then tried the online portal during their opening hours on Saturday morning which advised me after entering the info that someone would come back to me within 10mins - they didn’t.
I then missed an email they sent on Sunday with a link which expired after 24hrs (Monday) to pay an admin fee to make the change.
By the time I saw this email on Tuesday after I once again attempted to update my number plate via the portal the portal had frozen and the link in the email had expired hence me trying the live chat option as I was travelling on a train so calling was difficult.
The live chat agent I engage with didn’t once apologise or acknowledge that I had to contact for a third time, it’s hard to know whether it was a real person or a bot as no name was given at the start of the chat to the best of my knowledge and the responses i received were either brief or felt templated as they were longer.
I was advised after the agent completely ignored my complaint about the poor experience I’d received to date to just pay the £10 again - I think they said ‘anyway’ as if to totally disregard everything else I’d said and just get me to pay and off the chat.
I once again called this out which did this time provoke an apology and confirmation after I’d once again asked to speak to a manager that a manager would call me within I think 48hrs - there was no thank you for contacting us / is there anything else I can do, the chat just ended.
As yet no call from a manager has been forthcoming or if it has no message has been left advising they were attempting to call me.
I have two policies with Peter Best and had my call been answered on Friday all of this would have been resolved, had my portal request been responded to on Saturday my issue would have been resolved, had the live chat agent apologised initially and resent me the payment link m on Tuesday my query would have been resolved (or even better given the inconvenience the charge being waived as a gesture of goodwill - it was £10) and had I received a call from a manager my issue would have been resolved but none of this happened hence the 1* TrustPilot review - I am very unlikely to renew with them again as I dread to think what the service is like if I need to make a claim - will be very interested in the response to this issue.

Insurance was a great price
Insurance was a great price, very easy to deal with and they don't pester you after you've purchased Insurance. Best seems to be the best.

Having done some research Peter Best came up with a better quote. Years ago when we lived in Colchester Peter Best came to our army quarter when he was beginning his business. I hope that he is still alive and well. It was 48 years ago!

I’m not sure it was great
I’m not sure it was great. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant and helpful but making a claim was not straightforward. First of all your claims line was not available on the weekend I needed to speak to someone, in spite of it advertising you were open every day. When I spoke to someone on Monday I had to give all details, which is quite right of course, however then I was told that Peter Best was only the broker so I would be put through elsewhere and my details would be passed on. Not sure they were as I had to got through the whole lengthy process again. But even they were not able to deal with my problem and I was told my details would be passed to another department. It all took up more time than I would have liked and I’m not sure it was all necessary. As I said, everyone I spoke to was very very polite and helpful so they were doing their jobs well but it wasn’t a very positive experience.
