Terrible communication, lack of empathy
I was an NHS patient and have withdrawn from care at Woodford/Ilford because it felt so lacking. The consultant showed no empathy and made no effort to explain a treatment plan. I was met with shrugs and sarcastic comments, which felt so weird for a caring profession. I left feeling so confused. Comms with the department were also terrible. I was lost in the system multiple times, didn't get results until I chased and chased. I have now been chasing my records - constantly - for two months, and am preparing to report them to the Information Commissioner. I have now transferred to an NHS hospital instead, and the care I am getting there is wonderful - there's a wait list but they are deeply caring and have excellent communication. But the time with Practice Plus has very much delayed a resolution to my health issue.
Excellent treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome
After some delays (at the NHS end of things) I was referred to the hand surgery team at Practice Plus Group, Ilford. I was reviewed on the Tuesday and immediately scheduled for a carpal tunnel release on the Saturday following. Mr Pardiwala and his team did a fantastic job: the procedure takes less time than a dental examination. It was painless and the recovery took about ten days. Fantastic!

The whole experience at the King George…
The whole experience at the King George Hospital in Ilford was excellent, from the anaesthetist, consultant and all the nursing staff from start to finish.
It is now four weeks since my keyhole inguinal hernia repair and I continue to experience pain in my groin, although I am told that this is not unnatural.
Should this continue after the suggested time I should like to reconsult with Erica , the surgeon, and talk over the results and hope this would be a possibility.
Please note that I have already reviewed my procedure shortly after the operation and submitted it. Kind regards, Reverend Ian Gow.

Apathetic, Substandard service
I saw Mr Ahamed, Orthopaedics surgeon on the 30th January. At the start of the appointment, I explained that I sustained a knee injury approximately eighteen months ago and that I continue to experience pain when the area is touched and when attempting full flexion. While I was describing my symptoms, I was interrupted and told that my MRI was normal. No further explanation or discussion followed, and there was a prolonged silence.
I asked what my options were and whether physiotherapy might help. I was told that it would not. When I asked how I could improve my condition or return to my previous level of function, I was told that physiotherapy was unlikely to help after eighteen months. I then asked whether arthroscopy was an option and was told no, as the MRI did not show a surgical target and a diagnostic arthroscopy would not be considered.
I attempted to explain that while I understood the MRI findings, I was concerned about the very real and specific functional limitations and symptoms I continue to experience. These concerns were not explored further, and no alternative explanations, investigations, management plan, or follow-up options were offered.
I left the appointment without any clarity, guidance, or plan for managing my ongoing pain and functional impairment. The consultation felt dismissive and rushed, and I was left with the sense that I needed to push for answers, yet still received none. The lack of engagement, explanation, or shared decision-making was concerning and, in my view, fell below an acceptable standard of care.
Additionally, I did not receive any feedback link following this appointment, which further reinforced the overall lack of accountability and patient-centred care.

Ilford / Hornchurch practice
We have to deal with Ilford but are seen too by Hornchurch, this is the worse service I have known the receptionist at Ilford is rude, they do not pass on the information to our reffered NHS or to our NHS Doctor, and even had the audacity to say that this is an issue they have in house, who says private is better than NHS, try ringing them by the time you get through you would of had an NHS appointment, what an absolute shambolic service, should be struck off as a NHS back up !!
Appalling
Appalling. I went to the Ilford facilities for a consultation for my left hip including X-rays, which I paid for directly. They noted an unspecified growth, some dysplasia and advised MRI to check for labral tear, which I couldn’t afford to pay privately for right arm so I was discharged back to my GP care, and told he would get a letter from the consultant and I’d get my X-ray results as well by email. That turned into a long chain of emails, I filled forms, sent IDs (plural). It turns out the letter was sent to the wrong postal AND email address they sourced themselves - even though i correctly filled in my gp details on the forms.
As for the X-rays, after involving as well my GP surgery to help me chase and being told they couldn’t be found, finally I got a link to them on 26th August. Unfortunately there’s 3 of the knee but only a lateral one of the hip. The main hip one, which I believe was the one showing a growth, is still missing and they’re not replying my phone calls or emails.
Reported. And if I need surgery I’ll be going everywhere but. Avoid like the plague.

The procedure of Right Hip surgery went…
The procedure of Right Hip surgery went well but an Epidural anaesthetic failed so a General was used. Recovery took 3 days before going home but pain relief and thorough nursing care helped me through
Again the physiotherapist was great and the exercises used during 1st 2 weeks until suture/ clips removal which was so easy with the adept Nurse
The next 4weeks saw me back to work and driving with walking every day plus prescribed exercises
Unfortunately the Left Hip requires surgery and I am on a waiting list as the pain is holding my progress back currently

Bad Experience
am writing to express my deep frustration with the way my endoscopy appointment has been handled. Initially, I had to chase repeatedly just to receive my original appointment. Following that procedure, I was informed there was an issue and that I would need to undergo the endoscopy again.
I was told I would receive a new appointment within two weeks, yet I have heard nothing since. Despite my patience, I’ve now had to follow up myself again—calling the number provided (020 8598 4600) multiple times with no answer.
This level of communication and care is simply unacceptable. I understand the NHS is under pressure, but patients should not have to chase basic information or feel forgotten.
