This is the absolute worst insurance…
This is the absolute worst insurance company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They deliberately waited until the 14-day cooling-off period expired before raising my premium. To make matters worse, they are now demanding a fee just to cancel the policy. These are typical extortion tactics. Avoid them at all costs!

Unfair
I reached RIAS from a comparison site (Money supermarket). However, when going from one site to another the dates changed and I didn't noticed until I already have paid. I tried to contact them straight away to change the date of the policy and I was told I needed to pay more for the change. Thiefs!

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about your experience. The information used to generate a quote is based on the details entered during the quotation process and cannot be altered once submitted. The date recorded on the quote would therefore be the date that was entered at the time.
If there are any questions regarding the information submitted through a comparison website, we can request verification from the comparison site, which keeps a record of the details entered during the quotation journey. This allows us to confirm exactly what information was provided at the point the quote was generated.
As a policy start date is one of the factors used when calculating insurance premiums, changing the start date may result in a different premium being offered. However, this does not automatically mean the premium will increase, as the price may be higher, lower, or remain the same depending on the circumstances. If you would like us to review this further or provide a quote based on an alternative start date, please contact us directly and we'll be happy to help.

For policy changes, you can obtain a quote through your online account and then contact us if you'd like to discuss the changes with one of our advisers before proceeding, just to ensure everything is correct. This also allows you to view the quote online, helping you avoid any administration fee that may apply when certain changes are completed over the phone.

Not very good
Not very good. I've never had a claim and yet they are putting the car insurance price up by 20%. I've phoned them and they won't even look at reducing. So much for loyalty.

We are sorry to hear we could not offer a more competitive renewal premium this year.
The renewal quote is not just based on the fact you have not made a claim.
Price fluctuations are common in the insurance market and we work hard to maintain our competitiveness, however this will not always be the case for all of our customers.
We do state on renewal invitations that we offer our best price upfront, so contacting us won't lead to additional discounts.
I understand this is disappointing, and we do encourage shopping around to ensure you are getting the best price for your Insurance needs.

Decent while it lasted, but renewal prices make loyalty impossible
I’ve been insured with RIAS for a couple of years and initially had a positive experience. The pricing was competitive, and the service was solid throughout my time with them.
However, this year's renewal quote came through at £1,032.56, up significantly from £783.17 last year—an increase of nearly £250 with no changes in risk or claims made. After a quick look across comparison sites, multiple reputable providers are offering identical comprehensive cover for around £550, which is almost half of RIAS’s renewal price.
It’s disappointing to see existing customer loyalty penalized with such an uncompetitive quote. If you’re considering RIAS, they are fine initially, but make sure you shop around at renewal time rather than letting the policy auto-renew.

Customer loyalty is highly appreciated, however it is not always possible to remain competitive for all customers.
Underwriting criteria is ever-evolving and there are several factors than can make certain risk rated information more of a concern than in previous years. More information about these are available on our website.
The circumstances are unique to every individual and it isn't only your claims history that has to be taken into account.
We do state on our renewal invitations that shopping around is encouraged for this very reason, and we do hope that we can be more accommodating again in the near future.
