Absolutely amazing family holidays. This is the second time we went with Safari Drive, and definitely not the last one :-)
Helpful advice when planing, pleasant to talk to, fully equipped vehicles and excellent support on the ground when needed.

Fantastic organisation and support throughout our trip

From start to finish, this has been an extraordinarily good experience with Safaridrive. Absolutely superb.
We have used them previously to organise a family trip to Namibia, so we had no hesitation in using them again to organise a 25th wedding anniversary trip to Botswana.
At the UK HQ, Jo worked with us to produce the perfect itinerary, with a great blend of superb lodges as well as beautiful campsites for our nights spent under canvas, on the roof of the Landcruiser.
We got home just 5 days ago and as I sit here reflecting on those two weeks in Botswana, I can honestly say that the experience was everything we had hoped for and then much, much more.
We were extremely fortunate with some fabulous game sightings in Chobe, Savuti and Moremi/Khwai that made the safari so special.
Undoubtedly, the enjoyment of self-driving in the wonderful Landcruiser, with its fabulous equipment, great tents and its "go-anywhere" abilities make the whole safari experience into a huge adventure.
I would wholeheartedly recommend a self-drive safari adventure and Safaridrive are absolutely brilliant at turning that dream into a reality.

We travelled to Namibia with Safari drive my wife and I and our three children (8,10 and 12 years). The team from Safari drive were wonderful since day one of planning helping us taylor our trip to our needs including ration camping vs lodge. They then reassured us on the security and easiness we will have to complete the trip. On site, the team were great to brief us for our trip: car, maps, itinerary, equipment, etc. The team offers excellent support throughout the trip. Everything has been thought about and no detail has been left unattended. I would recommend this company to all. We can't wait to organize another trip in Africa with them. Thank you Safari drive for such a memorable trip.

We've done several 4x4 self-drive trips in southern Africa with different companies, and the Safari Drive vehicle has been the best by far. The camping gear is top-notch and the organization of the gear inside the vehicle is very clever. The service provided by the Safari Drive team is also way above average, from planning the route and booking the sites to providing pre-trip guidance. Highly recommended.

Just back from a 2 week 4WD Safari Drive road trip in Namibia. At short notice, the company planned a wonderful bespoke itinerary, allowing us to explore this beautiful country, its wildlife, people and landscapes. Pre-travel information including an informative handbook and a series of short videos on vehicle/driving were incredibly helpful and we had excellent back-up within the country if needed. Accommodation was a mixture of our own roof tent in lovely campsites interspersed with incredible camps where a little luxury was most welcome. Would thoroughly recommend this company and cannot wait for our next adventure.

Really excellent travel with Safari Drive. I was very impressed from the moment of first contact, adjusting and tweaking the itinerary to execution of the trip. Very impressed with how they handled the unexpected (including one of the camps we were booked to being victim to a land grab a fortnight before departure!) and problems with flights to arrive in Windhoek.

Namibia is an amazing country and this is a really fun way to see it.

Safari Drive managed to customize our safari in Bostwana in an outstanding way. They recommended perfect fitting to what we were looking/ hoping for. The lodges booked were wonderful, luxurious without being too overboard with friendly managers and staffs. In among all the location choices available in Botswana, the four that were picked were excellent with abundant game viewing in a beautiful African bush setting. The itinerary design was very well planned with not too excessive daily driving but sufficient adventure. The Toyota Land Cruiser was amazing, very well equipped and we got all the support needed to have a smooth travel.
We highly recommend the expertise of Safari Drive.

Just finished our 5th trip with Safari Drive. All of our trips have been wonderful experiences, with great help and advice with planning through to excellent in-country support in Africa. Our first trip was in 2018 with a trip through Botswana which pretty much followed one of the suggested itineraries, then as we gained more experience we did trips through Zambia, Malawi, Namibia and Zimbabwe. We have just returned from an epic 9 week trip from Cape Town to Livingstone via Namibia and Botswana where we made lots of special requests to suit our wishes.

What we have loved about the self-drive experience is the chance to visit some of the most remote campsites in southern Africa interspersed with some really delightful 5 star fully inclusive lodges.

The Safari Drive vehicle setup has been continously evolving and the current setup is pretty much ideal for remote area travel. The latest version of the roof top tent is comfortable, easy to put up and pack away, even for us over 65 year olds! While having the satellite phone is comforting, we have always kept in mind that while the person who answers the phone may be able to organise help, it may take hours or even days for that help to arrive. Having a fully equipped and reliable vehicle is therefore more than just a luxury.

Just back from our 5th and wildest trip with Safari Drive, to NW Namibia and the Angolan border via Etendeka and through the Palmwag Concession and up to Puros, West to Bludrom, north to Hartmannberge, across to Marienfluss, north to the Kunene River. In total 3,500km with some great 4x4 experiences and wild camping in some very remote areas. Great wildlife viewing. Our first trip with Safari Drive was in 2008 in a Landrover Defender, the last trip and this one were in the Toyota Landcruiser 79, fully equipped with extended range fuel tanks. The vehicle and equipment have evolved to the point where everything is just right. Part of the fun is the planning and Safari Drive provided excellent assistance in putting together our none-routine trip and ensuring the logistics worked. The in-country support was very good available via the Safari Drive supplied satellite phone. Great trip, as always.

This is the third time we've travelled with Safari Drive. From planning to in country support they have been excellent. Very knowledgeable team. Well-equipped vehicle. Good back up if needed. We would definitely recommend them and plan to use them again ourselves.

I cannot speak highly enough of Safari Drive and the team. From the first conversation with a UK Rep to the end, we were looked after every step of the way. Having done a lot of safari, I was specific about who we chose to book with and what we were looking for - Safari Drive surpassed every expectation. The itinerary, the kit, on the ground up to date knowledge and service delivered with pure kindness. They have the best 4x4 that are impeccably maintained, the best kit and you will benefit from on the ground up-to-date knowledge and they know the best lodges.

So many highlights. The wildlife of course, being so close to lions, rhinos, elephant, leopard, cheetah etc etc. Plus the amazing landscapes. Joanna at Safari Drive was simply excellent in planning the trip and making it all work. Only real negatives were some disappointing responses to dietary requirements in a couple of the hotels/lodges.

We had a fantastic trip from Windhoek to Cape Town. Safari Drive´s overnight-mix proposition between extremly nice Lodges and beautiful Campsite was just perfect as well as the rhythm/mix of driving and nature experiences. But mostly important, the Landcruiser 79er is THE car to travel with throught Southern Africa. Safari Drive´s set-up for the Landcruiser is just perfect in terms of equipment and various "uprades" to the car itself. Everything is there and everything is at its place. We loved the car and never had worries about security or technical issues. Jens (in Windhoek) gave us an extremly well introduction to the Landcruiser and was reachable for any kind of questions throughout our tour. And Joanna (in the UK) gave us great support in organising the entire tour. All in all, an extremely well organised tour with a fantastic car in breathtaking countries. We will be back soon :)

The itinerary build and booking process was a pleasure and stress free.

The vehicle was brilliant, built like a tank and handled deep sand easily.

In-country support was very friendly and helpful.

However, it wasn't until our eldest son became ill in the latter stages of the trip that we realised the hidden depths of the Safari Drive machinery.

After an early morning satellite phone call to the company, medical advice was obtained and an ambulance dispatched to attend to my son.

Whilst we were dealing with the medical side, a number of people were working in the background to ascertain rerouting options for the remainder of our holiday.

After a night in hospital, my son was able to continue on a modified intinerary with us, avoiding the remote camping previously planned. His condition improved after a few days allowing us to spend the final day back on safari.

During an intense period Safari Drive lifted the logistical weight from our shoulders and allowed us to focus on looking after our son, whilst quietly readying extraction options in the background should the medical situation dictate.

What could so easily have been a very distressing time was mitigated to such an extent that rather than being a trip-defining terrible experience, we are instead able to look back on the memorable adventure we had hoped for wrapped around a short period of illness.

In short, Safari Drive were great from initial contact until the trip was complete, and simply superb when it really mattered.

Exceeded our expectations. They planned out the perfect itinerary for us - a great mix of camping and lodges and the trip built up perfectly. A great adventure with the kids. You have the freedom of being on your own and doing what you want but with fantastic support via sat phone when you need it (which we did). If you are thinking of this do it. Life is too short not to.

The friendly team at Safaridrive organised a fantastic family holiday for us in Namibia. The planning and information before we left was very detailed, the safari vehicle and equipment was of a very high strandard, the support in Namibia was fantastic and we felt that we would have been well taken care of in case of any mishap. The selected camps, lodges and hotels were all excellent.
