The transition from being approved to making the first payment was frustrating. After three calls it was cleared up. Mis-information was provided by the first two SBLI associates. Third associate, very helpful, placed the blame on the initial “ sales person” who established the contract.

I'm an Agent..I've written close to 75 policies with SBLI. They have competitive Preferred rates and nothing beats a quick underwriting decision fairly quick into the App. I find it disappointing that as an Agent, I am not able to make or request simple changes. They are giving me problems just asking for address changes. We can't update their payment info. No way to manually process payments. Additionally, I don't want to have to ask for a full social, some carriers the last 4 works. They send out policy documents with the full socials and full bank accounts. Not ideal but still one of my Top 3 FEX carriers.

I have had SBLI Insurance for over 25 years and at this point/age in my life I had to transition into getting term life insurance. When I called to ask what my next steps and options were I was lucky to get sales agent, Ron Van Woesik, he made it easy. He went through my options, the costs and the what the medical exam entailed. The phone interview with with Latrice Edwards was friendly yet very professional. My home medical exam was on time and very professional. My overall experience was excellent.
I am glad to be approved for the next phase of having my Life Insurance with SBLI.

This is my second policy. I have researched other companies and found that the products that SBLI has to offer are transparent and considerably less costly.

I had a really frustrating experience working with SBLI. After my policy was approved, I tried to create an online account in order to submit payment and received an error. I reached out to customer support three times and no one responded. Then, I got a letter in the mail saying that if I didn't submit payment in 2 days, my policy would be void. So, I called and sat on hold for 15 minutes before I was sent to a voicemail box. I finally had to go onto their website, find the email address of the agent who sold us the policy, and reach out to her directly. Wouldn't recommend – hours of frustration to try and give them my money.

The policy was held up in underwriting for quite some time, probably due to my A1C @ 7. There were no communications during that delay and the policy was issued, with ~$100 per month higher premium than original quoted. No one told me of this, but I took it anyway. I like your company, and the people have been great. Seems to me they are overloaded and can't devote a lot of time to applicants.

I just received a mailing in the mail for life insurance from your company . It was addressed to my late son. How truly INSENSITIVE and Hurtful it was to receive such a mailing . I would advise anyone thinking of usingSBLI as an life insurance company not to use this company Ed G

Communication was very poor during the experience. I had to get a medical exam, which I was not expecting as I was told only a small percentage of applicants require a medical exam. Then I took time off work for my scheduled exam and the examiner never showed. Finally, once that was all straight and I was approved, I did not get access to my online account for 2.5 weeks due to a technology issue on their end that required me to reach out about through multiple phone calls and emails. Although I am happy with the policy, the customer service experience was poor.

I was given a verbal quote, which in the end ended up being more than double the original quote. I felt like the victim of a bait and switch scheme. I am also curious about the purpose of the medical exam/Labs if the results are just going to be discounted if it doesn't show the results they wanted. My blood, urine and blood pressure were all perfect and showed that anything I had been diagnosed with in the far past are perfectly under control, yet I was still rated based on past diagnoses.
